    Craigard Cottage reviews
We had an exceptional 4 nights at Craigard Cottage at the end of June. My wife, daughter and dog enjoyed the comfortable accommodation and lovely surroundings, greatly enhanced by gorgeous sunshine. No problem with midges, due to the heat, although the cleggs (horseflies) were a bit of a nuisance at times. The house was clean, with plenty of room and good amenities and grounds suitable for a dog. A garden table would have been useful, but otherwise it was more than adequate. The centre of the town is a few minutes drive away and within walking distance. The very small town does have a convenience store and a number of superb eateries; Botanica is a very good quality restaurant, The Tearoom for sandwiches and cakes, kames Hotel for good quality pub food. Further afield the Oyster Catcher at Otter Ferry is a must, about 10 miles away. A trip to Mount Stuart House on Isle of Bute is well worth while. One of the best beaches in the UK must be Ostel (Kilbride) Bay, just a short drive away. Yes, we were very lucky with the weather, but the scenery is stunning whatever the conditions.
    Mr Blizzard - June 2018
We had a lovely stay at Craigard Cottage. First impressions were the same as some other reviewers regarding the shabbiness of the sofas but we soon forgot about that when we got the wood burning stove on and began to relax. The wifi was good enough for our teenagers devices so that was a plus. My wife was able to store her bike in the large space downstairs and the dog and I were able to go lots of nice walks down to the shore. We had one issue with the electricity going off in the upstairs sockets which could have been a disaster as the tv, wifi and fridge were all off. The caretakers were straight on it and sent someone round when we were out but as he could not fix it until the next day a nice lady drove over from Dunoon with a long extension cable so we were sorted for the evening.
    Mr Smith - April 2018
Cottage was very well equipped and comfortable. Set on a very steep hill so may not be suitable for everyone. Scenery was breathtaking. Would recommend
    Mr White - May 2016
The house is set above the shore road up a steep hill and is quite secluded. It is well laid out with bedrooms and shower room and bathroom downstairs and the combined living area/kitchen and main bedroom and bathroom upstart s. Nicely decorated and functional. Approx 1 mile from shops and 1.5 mile walk to the Royal hotel which had excellent food and drink. Kames is a further walk but also hotel there is good with lively atmosphere. House and location was relaxing. Perhaps couches were a little tired and should be changed.A long drive from anywhere and local roads are sometimes single track and next time we would take western ferry to gourock.
    Mrs Struthers - October 2015
A lovely cozy cottage which was clean and warm. Lorna, the caretaker had made sure the cottage was warm by lighting the wood burner and had made beds up for us. She also quickly found a high chair for us. There were some lovely cakes out for us upon our our arrival and lots of local information and information about the cottage. The sea front walk into Kames was lovely even in the wind and the locals were very friendly.
    Mr Dale - March 2015
The cottage was well equipped and had a fantastic wood burning stove which was useful to dry our wet gear each day. The owner/housekeeper was very attentive and visited to ensure we were OK during the very stormy weather experienced during the week.
    Ms Little - December 2013
A lovely comfortable cottage, very well equipped and perfect for a family. The location is very good a short walk to the sea with loads to do in the local area. The facilities in Tighnabruiach are good with a great hotel just a short walk away and others within a short drive. Would definitly recommend Argyle & Bute are for a holiday.
    Mr Dillon - May 2013
Craigard Cottage is a very comfortable holiday home, set in a beautiful location in Tighnabruaich. It was a pleasure to come back to such a peaceful and welcoming house each evening after days out taking in the wonderful scenery - we particularly enjoyed the Isle of Bute, driving round Loch Fyne and taking the ferry to Tarbert. And to cap it all, we had wonderful weather! I would have rated the cottage as five star, but for a few minor things - no mirrors in the bedrooms, some rings & tie backs missing on the lounge curtains, settees a bit 'tired' looking, and no toast rack/cutlery drainer. Also, there wasn't an iPod dock as detailed in the cottage specification - didn't affect us, but I can imagine that some people might be a bit annoyed! But all in all, we had a great holiday - we felt really relaxed and refreshed by the time we came to going home!
