Description

Cray is an absolute delight, tucked away within its own secluded grounds and yet with spectacular views down Glenshee “The Glen of the Fairies”. This very pretty three storey 18th Century house oozes traditional charm and character and provides excellent self catering holiday accommodation for families and groups of friends to enjoy that special occasion or simply to spend time together in the peace and quiet. It is extremely comfortable and welcoming whilst avoiding any sense of being intimidating or too grand – perfect for family holidays. What's more, the house has undergone considerable refurbishment over the last few years, bringing modern facilities and stylish furnishings to this home away from home.

A graceful drawing room is tastefully furnished with comfort and elegance in mind, and together with an open fire and views over the gardens to the loch and boat house, this is a delightful room to enjoy and relax in. The spectacular dining room is perfect for both formal and informal dining and the completely overhauled kitchen is ideal for catering for larger parties. Two further sitting rooms provide flexibility for mixed parties and together with a breakfast room and large kitchen/diner, make this house ideal for all requirements. Upstairs the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable with five of the ten having en-suite bathrooms. All the bedrooms to the front of the house on both floors benefit from the spectacular views down Glenshee, whilst the bedrooms to the back of the house offer comfortable and flexible accommodation suitable for family groups, children and adults alike. Many of the beds are zip and link, adding further flexibility to accommodate all groups.

Cray is situated within delightful grounds, with lawn, mature trees and shrubs providing habitat to a variety of wildlife including numerous red squirrels that bounce round the trees and garden and the salmon-populated River Shee providing part of the garden boundary (fishing by arrangement). The loch, complete with boat and boat house, is an idyllic spot to while away the hours fishing for trout or just messing about on the water, whilst the playground area is perfect to keep the children occupied, with a seesaw, 4 swings, including child swings, trampoline, large basket swing and a large slide, providing hours of entertainment.

    Cray House is the comfiest, warmest, best stocked holiday house I've ever stayed in. The beds are amazing, it has everything you would need to entertain 20 people in all weather conditions and is in a fabulous location. We will definitely be back.

    Cray is a great, fully equipped house, that will provide anyone hours of entertainment! There is a play park complete with zip line, a football pitch, a lake with a small boat, a good amount of walks nearby. Ben and Vicky are also on hand to answer any questions you have and make you feel at home.
