Davaar Barn is a beautiful and welcoming home with breathtaking views across the Firth of Clyde towards the Kintyre Peninsula. Converted from the original byre in 2015 and extensively renovated with a high quality finish throughout, it provides a stylish yet incredibly welcoming and cosy family space, with the open plan living space upstairs to take advantage of the views.

Its location in the quiet hamlet of Corriecravie would particularly suit families, and the west of the island is an ideal setting for visitors to see some of the spectacular sunsets, as well as having access to many low and high level walks.

With its easy access to the nearby thriving harbour community of Blackwaterfoot, the location of Davaar Barn benefits from a wide range of local attractions including tennis, golf, horse riding, cycling and many excellent beaches. Golf enthusiasts will particularly enjoy the renowned challenging 12 hole Shiskine golf club. A number of nearby historical sites are also easily accessible including King’s Caves and the Machrie Moor Standing Stones.

Guests to Davaar Barn can also look forward to the prospect of fresh bread from the local Blackwaterfoot bakery, as well as sampling the local produce from a selection of excellent restaurants. Brodick is easily accessible with a wide its variety of attractions, including swimming pools and an outdoor pursuits centre.

    Davaar Barn reviews
Davaar Barn was a wonderful home through out, beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The owners have made great use of the amazing views across the bay by turning the house upside down. The house is surrounded by sheep in fields and the sea. The road is at bottom of the drive so traffic not a problem and in Arran it’s not constant anyway. The house had everything anyone could possible need in order to cater for everyone’s needs. For example all kitchen equipment, towels, washing machine, DVD player. A request if there is access to the beach can you leave information out for people to know this. On the nit picking side and I mean nit picking. I would suggest the carpet runner is replaced with a smaller wipe your feet carpet at entrance door. The light in entrance wire is shortened so it doesn’t bang on the door. One of the beds is removed from the twin room and either to get maximum use either change to a bunk or put a bed settee upstairs. It is neither practical or helpful to have 2 beds in that room. A separate bathroom switch would be helpful. Managed to switch the light off a couple of times while in use.

Davaar cottage is a very nicely appointed 'cottage' It was nice to be out of town.and yet close enough to access facilities, especially butcher and Lagg distillery. The presence of the sheep just added to the tranquility. There's plenty to do on Arran with variety, both recreational, historical and practical. The cottage is cosy but could address a couple of practical things. The lack of drying facilities or means to hang wet clothes was a bit challenging. The kitchen lacked a few items that could be helpful, such as whisk, mixing bowl, spatula. Some clearer instructions for using appliances. Dishwasher did not work very well. Stove was confusing. It might be good to include more specifics about places, do, numbers etc Nothing major, but a few things to be considered

We have had an excellent week in the very comfortable Davaar Barn. The accommodation was of a high standard with views across the sea & Ailsa Craig. The kitchen was well equipped with all appliances in good working order. Good WiFi & tv reception, excellent water pressure & showers. It was extremely comfortable & we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Barn is in a v quiet & rural location but Blackwaterfoot has an excellent artisan baker, shop, butcher, post office & hotel. We had good walks & good weather, superb scenery & plenty to see - seals, curlews, whimbrels, to name a few but sadly we didn’t see a red squirrel or any eagles. Binoculars are essential! We loved Arran & feel a yearning to return. Plenty to explore, the varied walks in particular were outstanding.

We love this spot in Arran, it's in a lonely part of the island with great views of the sea, but close to Blackwaterfoot with its shops and only half an hour from Brodick - indeed Arran is a really easy island to get around. Great place for families that don't want 30 degrees, enjoy walking, crabbing, swimming in the sea, watching for wildlife, great Brodick Castle etc. The house has a lovely downstairs with well-done out bedrooms and bathrooms. The upstairs felt a bit tired since our last stay and we feel that at bit more effort could be made by the hosts to be welcoming (no welcome flowers/wine/message as is so common in self-catering these days) and the information about the house could do with a bit of updating. Only 1 tea-towel for the whole week (!) and the fridge and dishwasher / facilities could do with a bit of attention. No info about bins etc. We love this part of Arran but we hope that the hosts/owners would pay just a little bit more attention to the property and welcome as we'd love to return.

Fabulous views across the sea to Ailsa Craig and the Kintyre peninsula. Very comfortable, clean and fresh cottage with good facilities. A short drive to Blackwater foot which has shops, swimming pool, hotel and bar. A great base from which to explore Arran.

Lovely accommodation and view. very nicely finished adaptation of a barn. very roomy and all mod cons in good working order. Nice and local to Blackwaterfoot for restaurants and supplies. On an aside note - your property manager was excellent - helped us get in a little early to allow us to drop off bags so we could collect friends from the Ferry terminal. But even more so when on our last day our ferry was cancelled. When we called him out of desperation he very quickly found a location for us to stay overnight in what was chaos as hundreds of people were stuck with no place to stay. I will definitely use again and cant thank him enough - especially as we had a toddler with us and we were able to get a bed for him for the night!! Great stuff and thanks again
    Mr Macfarlane - July 2018
The house was lovely. Views from windows were fantastic. Lovely quiet ambience. Well equipped kitchen and really comfy beds. Had lovelymeals at Kinloch hotel and Kildonan hotel. Enjoyed the sites of the various wildlife and the many ships and ferries passing. Brilliant walks and we had the best weather possible.
    Mrs Mcmillan - June 2018
Comfortable refurbished barn with high quality furnishings. Most furniture appears to have been upgraded since website photos taken - has good-sized dining table. Great sea views across to Ailsa Craig and Kintyre. Twin room best decribed as very compact, but has two full size single beds. Accommodation very clean and well presented. The children also enjoyed the swings along the road !
