This picturesque holiday home offers outstanding views of the surrounding woodlands. Up to four guests can experience total peace at this tranquil property with plenty of outdoor activities nearby.

With two twin bedrooms, this is a wonderful escape for friends and family of all ages. The split-level cottage has a charming and homely feel, with exposed beams, wooden details and soft furnishings. You’ll find it located at the end of a private track overlooking a small loch, with a decked balcony boasting views across to the village of Cairnbaan.

From the large entrance porch, go down three steps into the spacious, double height open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, where French doors onto the balcony help flood the room with light. At night, it turns into a cosy haven when the wood burner is lit – the perfect place to relax after a day of exploration. Catch up on the day’s adventures over a delicious dinner cooked in the fully-equipped kitchen, before heading up the three further steps to the Super-King and Twin bedrooms, where a peaceful night’s sleep awaits.

Enjoy evening drinks or al fresco dining on the large balcony, taking in the incredible views over this wonderful part of Scotland. From here, you’ll see almost nothing but green hills and trees, lochs, and nature for miles – the ideal spot to get away from everyday life. A nearby path leads through the woods to the nearby hotel for tasty local scran, while a steep path leads from the cottage down to the loch which was once the site of a 19th-century slate quarry.

From the loch, climb the heather-clad hill opposite for impressive views along the Crinan Canal and towards the sea. Wander the towpath of the canal - described as Britain's most beautiful shortcut - which is excellent for keen walkers and cyclists. Head 6.5 miles to the sheltered sandy bay of Crinan Ferry Beach, located at the mouth of the River Add. From here, enjoy lovely views across to the 12th-century Duntrune Castle (also 6.5 miles), which is surrounded by the breathtaking landscape of the ancient kingdom of Dalriada. Discover more history at the Neolithic and Bronze Age remains in Kilmartin Glen (6 miles), with a multitude of cairns, standing stones, stone circles, forts and castles to see and explore. For those wanting to get closer to nature, charter a boat from the nearby Crinan Harbour (5.5 miles) for a day of fishing, wildlife watching and island hopping, or venture further to the famous Gulf of Corryvreckan with its whirlpools and standing waves; here you have every chance of spotting eagles, dolphins or whales. For shops, restaurants and even a nine-hole golf course, head to nearby Lochgilphead town, just 3 miles from the cottage.

A lovely warm cottage. Great to have comfortable seating and bed. A wonderful view across the valley. Endless bird life to the feeder we put out. Peace and quiet in bucket loads. No good if youve got a sports car as the track up is rough. A short walk to the Crinan canal. Good shops in Lochgilphead. Excellent wet fish shop and butchers there.

We had a truly inspiring 3 night stay at Dunamuck Bothy. The accommodation was very spacious the veranda looking out over the valley was amazing. We loved the isolation whilst still only a short distance if you need supplies. The local history, wildlife and landscape was incredible. We will be back!
