Description

Dunstaffnage Cottage is a charming white-washed stone cottage beautifully positioned close to the harbour town of Oban. Converted from a traditional barn, this two-bedroom holiday cottage is adjacent to the owner’s home within a delightful courtyard setting and is just a short walk from the Firth of Lorne and Loch Etive shoreline where you will find magical coastal walks, hidden bays and sandy beaches.

Whilst able to accommodate four people in two bedrooms, this comfortable self-catering cottage also provides the perfect hideaway for couples and romantic breaks. The spacious open plan living room with its glass entrance and wooden floor gives lots of light and space making it a lovely room to relax in after a day spent exploring this beautiful area of Scotland. The double bedroom has patio doors leading to a paved terrace overlooking the large shared garden creating a perfect spot for morning coffee. The cottage also benefits from its own back garden and two other patio areas with seating, a fire pit and barbeque allowing you to make the most of warm summer days and the beautiful sunsets. The utility room has plenty of space to store outdoor gear and is ideal for drying off wet dogs after enjoying the many beautiful walks right from the doorstep.

This glorious part of Argyll has so much to offer all ages. Dunstaffnage is home to the Scottish Association for Marine Science and the Scottish Oceans Explorer Centre & café is well worth a visit. The ancient Dunstaffnage Castle and its 13th century chapel is just a short walk from the cottage, and the adjacent Marina has a popular bar & restaurant (1 mile/15 min walk). The nearby fishing town of Oban is perfect for those who enjoy a bit of town life with excellent restaurants, shops and local attractions. During the summer the area comes alive with a host of highland games, festivals and ceilidhs, attracting bagpipers, highland dancers, traditional musicians and singers from all over the world. There are daily boat trips to the surrounding islands, where seals, porpoise and dolphins are often spotted. Oban is also known as the “Gateway to the Isles” with ferries to Mull and the inner Hebridean islands.

    The cottage is in an ideal location, is very clean and modern, lovely big gardens, kitchen has all the essentials and then some like a dishwasher. Amenities were fabulous none of the cheap hotel stuff, branded amenities. Highly recommend. This from a hotelier.
