Description

East Craigiecatt is a stunning eco-friendly house set on the top of a hill with commanding views across miles of farmland and rolling countryside. It is set in approximately 15 acres of enclosed, gated land which would give peace of mind to allow children and pets to play freely and safely outdoors. Ideal for family gatherings and celebrations, the house can easily accommodate large groups of people and has been designed and finished to an exceptional standard throughout. Even on cold, dull days, the house is extremely bright and warm due to the care and thought put in to its design by the owners.

The large, fully equipped kitchen with AGA, traditional terracotta tiled flooring and underfloor heating with a large oak dining table is the hub of the house. There is a separate large pantry for food storage and a substantial utility room which is ideal for storing fishing equipment if you have been out fishing on the nearby River Cowie or Carron. The beautiful living room contains quality, comfortable sofas in which to totally relax with a large flat screened TV where you can enjoy the cosy open fire whilst watching a DVD or playing a board game. The central atrium area of the house is a unique sunspace where the French doors open to the front and back, creating a sense of having the "outside inside" which is perfect for BBQ's if some shelter is required. There is a large paved area where informal tennis can be played and also a basketball hoop and board. The large garden itself is like one big adventure playground for children to explore and play and adults to walk. In addition, there is an upstairs separate "games room" for teenagers or children to congregate and have their own space away from the adults. Above the garage there is also space with full sized table tennis, full size pool table, weights, exercise bike, step machine and turbo trainer – perfect for those who don’t want to miss a workout during their holiday.

Netherley is a hidden gem in Aberdeenshire which has so much to offer for those who may wish to enjoy a peaceful, rural retreat but also give the opportunity to enjoy city amenities, should it be required. It is in close proximity to Aberdeen with all the usual city facilities just a 30 minute drive away. East Craigiecatt has the best of both worlds: a peaceful, tranquil location that is easily accessible to the attractions in the city.

    From when we booked the house until we left we had a great time. Helen was a great host. I contacted Helen before our stay and she could not have been more helpful. The house itself is fantastic! The kitchen is great and fully stocked with all you need for cooking for a large group I am definitely a big fan of the Aga now!! The living room and games room were great. The garage pool and table tennis tables were fantastic for the men in our group. (and the ladies!!!) The only thing I would say and it didn't affect us at all was the small part of the track would be a bit difficult to get up if you had a low car. We really enjoyed our stay and could not fault anything and will definitely look at East Craigiecatt for future get togethers! Thank you Helen hope we didn't leave you with too much to do. Carol

    What a beautiful house in fantastic surroundings. We were a large party that filled the house but there was plenty of room for all. The house has more than enough equipment in the kitchen and pots/pans in the pantry. The aga is a bit difficult if you haven't used one before but there is an electric one if you have problems. Helen looked after us all with a lovely box of goodies on arrival and a phone call to make sure we were alright. The drive is the only downside as it has a few large potholes and is quite steep, but nothing an ordinary car can't handle with care, just don't take your sports car. We will definitely be back.

    The property is large and spacious and the layout is good. Some aspects were faultless such as the Books and DVD collection and also the childrens toys. Some aspects though were not so good falling short of expectations. The kitchen was not particularly well equipped. No serving dishes, no teapot, one of the ovens did not work etc. We were only a party of 5 a larger party would struggle. No bins in the bathrooms. No shaver points anywhere in the property. No heating in the garage/games room. This property has much more potential than is being realised, it needs some TLC particularly when you consider the price being charged. I also think that the brochure /property details should carry some warning about the condition of the track leading up to the property it could be impossible for certain vehicles. To end on a positive note Helen was very helpful (arranged for Sky box office) and met all our other requests.

    What a wonderful house for Christmas. East Craigiecatt is a large, spacious house yet felt homely and welcoming. Everyone, (young, old and the dog) loved it, Considerable thought and care was given to extras for our stay including a decorated christmas tree in the living room as well as a much appreciated welcome pack - which included treats for the dog! We even mastered the heating, The drive can be slippery in bad weather so a little care needs to be taken in icy conditions. We would readily stay here again for another week!

    We had a large family gathering to celebrate two significant birthdays. The house we booked was very good value for money and was of a standard way above our expectations. The whole process was very professional and the house was stunning. The addition of a lovely welcome pack was both unexpected and appreciated, little touches like this are always special. The house was ideally placed to explore Stonehaven and Aberdeen as both were easily accessible by car. We really enjoyed our time and although there were twelve of us and two dogs the house was spacious and we had plenty of room to enjoy our long weekend.

    We as a party of 9 adults and 7 children rented this cottage for a long weekend. It is very hard to accommodate this number anywhere but this cottage was just the thing! Plenty of space for us all so not under each other’s feet! The house is very well equipped and Helen has thought of everything you might need. The welcome basket was a lovely touch too! The only points to note are that the access road is in bad condition so approach with caution! The bedrooms upstairs - one of them is only accessible by going through the other which under normal circumstances would be ok - but we had babies on each room. The house is very very hot but the velux windows help with that. Despite these few points we would definitely go here again. The large kitchen dining area and large lounge make it super for having nice family catch ups! Thank you Helen for making us feel so welcome!

    We stayed at East Craigiecatt for a family reunion and it could not have been more perfect. There is everything you could possibly need and more! Helen was brilliant and the house was cosy, welcoming and a home away from home. We had a lovely welcome pack and prosecco to get us started which was a very nice touch! The house is so beautifully decorated and is the perfect blend of comfort and modern and there is so much space! The BBQ, basketball net, the pingpong table kept all the children and adults busy. The grounds are huge as well so perfect for all the outdoor games. We could not recommend the house highly enough!

    The property was large, comfortable and very well equipped, we wanted for nothing. The welcome basket was very much appreciated too. Although there is lots to do in the area, the house itself provides plenty of entertainment. We were a mixed party of three generations and having a games room was the jewel in the property's crown and very well used particularly by the teenagers. We enjoyed visits to to Crathes Castle which has beautiful garden and Drum Castle with an interesting guided tour. We were lucky enough to visit Dunnottar Castle in beautiful sunshine - both Stonehaven and Aberdeen are an easy drive away. We would recommend Borsalino Italian Restaurant in Peterculter.

    Holiday Protection Scheme

    Cottages & Castles Ltd. (acting as agents for property owners) provides a guarantee for tenants who have to cancel their holiday at a cottage.

    If it is necessary to cancel your holiday, for any of the reasons A 1-5 below, you may do so at any time up until the close of business on the last working day before your tenancy commences and we will refund your balance. Your deposit is not refundable. If you have made a late booking and paid in full you will receive your payment minus the normal deposit sum (usually 30%).

    There is no charge for this holiday protection – it is included in the cost of your holiday. Please note that the protection does not apply to holidays in our properties with codes beginning with P (usually castles, mansions and lodges).

    Deposits may be transferred to a different date for a holiday at the same property within 12 months of the original holiday date, subject to availability, but not, however, for a different property. If the new booking is at a higher rate the tenant must pay the extra cost. No refund will be made if the new date is at a lower rate.

    A:
    1. Death, accidental bodily injury, or illness (excluding pre-existing or chronic illness/conditions, or illness arising through epidemics or pandemics)
    a) the Proposer and/or persons with whom he/she has arranged to travel.
    b) any close relative or business associate of the Proposer or of any person with whom he/she has arranged to travel or arranged to meet at the specified holiday establishment. We will require appropriate documentary evidence of illness or bodily injury from a registered medical practitioner. This evidence must state that the Proposer is unfit to travel.

    2. Jury service, witness call or unemployment through redundancy of the Proposer after the date of booking and prior to the commencement date of the holiday.

    3. Fire or theft which is the subject of an insurance claim at the Insured’s main residence or business premises within seven days before commencement of the holiday.

    4. Occupational postings not contemplated at the time the holiday is booked.

    5. Cancellation or curtailment of scheduled transport services due to strikes, riots or civil commotion, but limited to the cost of alternative transport up to £50 per person for the outward journey only.

    But not, however:

    B:
    1. Disinclination to travel.

    2. Failure of public or private transport.

    3. Suicide, attempted suicide, insanity, the influence of intoxicating liquor or the effect of drugs not taken in accordance with treatment prescribed and directed by a qualified medical practitioner or booking a holiday which is or would be against the advice of a registered medical practitioner.

    4. Pregnancy unless problems occur which prevent the person travelling. A  verification must be signed by a registered medical practitioner to this effect

    5. Any loss which is otherwise insured.

    6. Holiday accommodation booked outside Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands
