Embo House is an elegant Georgian mansion which will impress from the moment it's seen, after making your way up the enchanting beech-lined drive. Set in an idyllic position with views across the Dornoch Firth and direct access to the beach, Embo House is a breathtaking getaway for families and friends alike. This beautiful, grade A listed property was once owned by the Gordons of Embo and is one of the castles of the Clan Gordon. It has been modernised to create a welcoming home for holidaymakers whilst retaining its original charm. The kitchen has a farmhouse feel to it, and contains a large table that makes it the perfect breakfast room. The formal dining room seats up to 16 guests, making this grand space perfect place for entertaining. There are three separate social spaces on the ground floor: a cedar-lined library with plentiful books, a drawing room with tv, and a games room complete with a bar. This gives plenty of options for large families when the youngsters want to break away to play pool and the book worms want some peace and quiet! Upstairs, the double bedrooms are of ample size and all have a private bathroom. Outside in the 8 acres of land surrounding the house, the garden contains a few delights in the form of a tree house, a beautiful herb garden, a practice pitching hole, a separate studio for painting/yoga, and a detached conservatory/summer house which has mature fruit trees and plants growing inside – simply wonderful!

Dornoch is a golfers delight, with the world-famous Royal Dornoch Championship Course (voted the 5th best in the World by Golf Digest) and several other great links courses nearby. There is also fishing in the surrounding area on the River Carron, Cassely and further north in Brora and Helmsdale. The town itself has numerous gift shops and restaurants that are well worth visiting, and plentiful sandy beaches to explore – one of which is just a 5 minute walk from Embo House itself. No matter what you decide to do on your break in Dornoch, this house serves as the ideal base for exploring Sutherland and the Highlands.
