The cottage has generous accommodation and tastefully furbished with comfort and ease of living in mind. The spacious living room is the hub of this house with its large dining table and comfy sofas next to a wood burning stove, whilst next door the well equipped kitchen/diner, complete with range stove, is ideal for catering. A further snug sitting room, again with wood burning stove, offers flexibility to guests and together with six comfortable bedrooms and three family bathrooms provides a perfect and idyllic place to spend time with family and friends. Surrounded by some of Scotland’s most stunning scenery regardless of the time of year, guests can enjoy the tranquil setting and glorious views whilst watching the red squirrels feeding at the squirrel feeder, the many species of birds (including local ospreys) and perhaps roe and fallow deer grazing at dusk.

Famed for its trees and autumn colours, Perthshire is perfect backdrop for walkers and bikers who can enjoy both high and low level routes to suit all abilities in stunning surroundings. Golfers will love the many golf courses in the area whilst fishermen can take it easy on the banks of the mighty River Tay or perhaps a remote hill loch. There are distilleries and castles to visit including Scone Palace and Blair Castle or Edradour, Scotland’s smallest distillery, and those guests looking for some excitement can try the many water sports on offer including white water rafting, kayaking, and river bugging. Centrally located this delightful cottage is also a great base to explore further afield with Edinburgh (1hr 15mins), Glasgow (1hr 30mins), Inverness (2hrs) drive and Glenshee (1hr) drive.

The accommodation was perfect for our family, with enough rooms for each family with small children (three under the age of 3yrs) to have their own space but come together. Beautiful large living room for us all to gather, and a lovely cosy sitting room where the toddlers could play safely. Two wood burning stoves gave us ample warmth and the large family bathroom meant our little ones could share a bath together. The garden was beautiful, with lovely views over the river Tay, the added childrens play area was really appreciated by our family, where they all had so much fun. Wild life on the doorstep was there to see, with our daily encounters of red squirrels, pheasants, partridge and red deer. A wonderful mature woodland on the doorstep and magnificent countryside to explore. A truly wonderful location!
    Mrs Ditchburn - August 2019
This is a delightful spot and a lovely house - lots of space and everything you might need is provided.
    Mr Williams - July 2019
Our party comprised 7 adults, two small children, an infant and 2 dogs. The cottage accommodated us perfectly with plenty of room for all. The layout is good with the bedrooms away from the communal areas. Up to two dogs are welcome, which was key for us, and dog rules (keep them out of the carpeted areas, including bedrooms) are easy to comply with. The place was spotless, ready for our holiday. There are outdoor play areas with swings and trampoline, barbecue and a drinks fridge in the summer house. And if the weather is inclement (we had a thunderstorm) there is plenty room for indoor cooking and eating and a selection of board and card games to keep children and adults amused. The scenery is beautiful, it’s peaceful and a haven for wildlife - we watched red squirrels, jays and a nuthatch amongst more common birds visiting the feeding post in front of the house. There are nearby nature trails and wilder walks. This is a great place for a family get-together and a fantastic base for walking, fishing or just chilling.
    Mr Davidson - June 2019
This is the second time we have stayed at Forebrae and it did not disappoint. We had a fabulous family weekend and the children loved our wildlife visitors, red squirrels, woodpeckers and pheasants. The cottage is well equipped and homely and suits our family well. The garden is perfect for children to play and grown ups to relax. I think we might be back.
    Mrs Wright - May 2019
Forebrae was perfectly set up for our party of thirteen. Set in a beautiful location with wildlife all around, we felt truly removed from daily life and able to relax. Though the weather wasn’t great, we did venture down to Butterstone Loch, which was the perfect way to get a bit of fresh air. We will definitely be back.
    Mrs Johnson - November 2018
My family and I recently stayed at this cottage set in the most beautiful countryside. I found cottages and castles extremely professional and very helpful in managing my booking. On arrival to the cottage my family and I were absolutely delighted as the cottage was a spotless and the best equipped cottage I have ever stayed in. Three generations of my family stayed in the cottage and they all had a super time a lot of thought has went into this cottage to make it a home from home, we have stayed in other cottages over the years but this is by far the best and cleanest we have had the pleasure of staying in. The garden was thoroughly enjoyed by all young and not so old and we loved seeing the red squirrels that came into the garden and the deer literally standng at the garden fence. So a massive thank you to all involved and especially the very lovely lady who looks after the cottage for the owner she very kindly contacted me to let me know that we had left a few items behind and kindly arranged to return them to us. We will definitely be back next year
    Mrs Lennie - October 2018
This is a lovely property, well equipped with everything you are likely to want. It is in a very picturesque area and very secluded. Enjoyed the warmth and comfort the house provided. Would recommend it to anyone.
    Mrs Nicol - October 2018
Lovely cottage. Well equipped clean comfortable lovely garden beautiful setting. We would love to go back.
    Mrs Wright - August 2018
Given 4 out of 5 stars only as there was a problem with the boiler which needed to be sorted during our stay. Aside from that we couldn’t have been happier with Forebrae Cottage & we will definitely recommend it to others.
    Miss Condliffe - August 2018
Forebrae was everything we could have wished for for our family break to Scotland. Plenty of Space around the cottage for the children to explore. Surrounded by wildlife, red squirrels and deer. Perched high with wonderful views of the surrounding areas. A Very well equipped cottage with a homely feel. Hope to go back one day.
    Mrs Addison - July 2018
The house was ideal for an extended family stay. We had 4 kids 5 and under and they loved the garden and play area. House very well equipped and in beautiful surroundings.
    Mr Scott - July 2018
The cottage was very well appointed and furnished to comfortably support a large family group . It was very well equipped , both internally & externally , to support multiple social functions . It was also clean , tidy & easily managed . The above points , together with the location and environment , made for a very relaxed break . The area & the town impressed everyone and we look forward to returning . The one ( slightly ) negative issue was the recycling process which really meant driving to the Loch of the Lowes car park to saty on top of it ......and make sure it was done right . It would have been easy to become lazy & not follow instructions to the letter .
    Mrs Cairns - May 2018
The Cottage is as lovely as ever. Do go visit the Ospreys at the Loch of the Lowes and/or view their webcam of the nest and new chicks. The deli in Dunkeld is absolutely super - great food, friendly service, excellent wines - even open in the evenings for tapas
    Dr Rookwood - May 2018
Our week at Forebrae exceeded our hopeful expectations. It is a very spacious and well-equipped house in a lovely setting - wild-life (red squiirrels, all kinds of birds) in the garden; good walks nearby; the ospreys at the Loch of the Lowes; the attractive village of Dunkeld a few minutes along the road. An excellent place to have an extended-family holiday.
    Rev Shanks - April 2018
Forebrae is in an idyllic setting and the views from the front of the house are stunning. The accommodation was good in terms of space for 12 people. All the bedrooms were spacious with access to bathrooms. The kitchen was well equipped for a large group of people and it was great to have a separate utility room to stack all the used dishes. The main living area next to the kitchen was cosy especially with the wood burning stove and the dining room table was . I would certainly return either with a group of friends or with family as the garden looks ideal for children.
    Miss Lam - February 2018
Lovely weekend spent at Forebrae, beautiful home setting , view and finished to a superb standard. Would and will recommend to anyone.
    Ms Hunter - January 2018
We went with 7 persons in the house - all in the house was more than enjoyable The rooms were warm and clean
    Mr Wiegmans - October 2017
Lovely cottage which offered good accommodation for a large group of friends, whom had small children and dogs. Well equipped and well located.
    Miss Gray - September 2017
The house was fabulous, had everything we needed provided. Plenty of room for 8 adults & 3 children. Garden swings etc wonderful for entertaining children. Only let down by two uncomfortable, lumpy beds.
    Mrs Cameron - August 2017
Forebrae was perfect. We had two families stay, and one family took one end of the house and our family had the other end. It was a perfect set up.
    Mr Powell - June 2017
We loved the house. Was plenty large enough and the clothes dryer was amazing as we were coming off a 2 week tour and desperately needed clean clothes. Wish it was in same area as the washer but so appreciated it all the same. All of the appliances were wonderful. Only problem was the wifi signal either was not strong enough or wasn't working...had trouble connecting but not that big of a deal. Loved the nearby Tay Bank pub! Thanks!
    Mr Dolt - June 2017
The only problem was a showerhead which would not stay on the bracket. Beds, view and wood burning stoves were all good. Wildlife in garden and at the nearby Loch of the Lowes reserve excellent. Cycling and walking enjoyed.
Mr And Mrs Foreman - March 2017
Ideal location for family travelling from Balloch(Inverness) & Aberdeenshire for mums 70th Birthday celebrations! With 4 couples, 3 of which had young children, the layout & bedrooms were excellent. Dining area was great too! Slight delay in downstairs shower draining & us figuring out the oven, but didn't spoil our stay. Close enough to village for essentials but far enough away for relaxing stay in peaceful surroundings
    Mrs Lamont - November 2016
We love this house, great for large party of friends & the kids have an absolute ball in the garden.
    Mrs Robertson - July 2016
This is the fourth time we have stayed in this property. The cottage, the scenery and the location...all amount to what a holiday in the highlands should be...idyllic. First class service from the booking agents too.
    Mr Webster - April 2016
Forebrae was very comfortable, clean and loads of room for everyone in our party of twelve, the three youngest 3, 5 and 7 years loved it and didn't want to leave.
    Mrs Mitchell - March 2016
Beautiful house in great location couldn't believe how well stocked it was even had sledges which kids and adults were delighted with! Bedrooms spread out and with a few living spaces meant you felt you weren't tripping over each other! Would definetly book this property again.
    Mrs Mcconnachie - February 2016
Forebrae is very comfortable and very well appointed. It is in a lovely location and the weather was kind for a late autumn break. There were excellent walks in the area - we particularly enjoyed the Hermitage - lots of history to explore, and plenty of cafes for refreshment. The beginning of the Perthshire Amber Festival, with the decorated wheelbarrow challenge in particular, provided further interest. A most enjoyable weekend away for a group of friends.
    Ms Sutherland - October 2015
We enjoyed the house and the situation. The bedrooms, lounge etc was clean but we felt we had to wash everything in the kitchen before we used it as there were mouse droppings in the cupboards. Still we had a most enjoyable time and liked the house and the surroundings and facilities.
    Mr Borgen-nielsen - April 2015
Our second year at Forebrae and will certainly be back! The house is perfect for our group, especially with all our children. The layout works perfectly for a larger group and is very comfortable. The house is also very warm, with good central heating and plenty of logs for the 2 fires. Just outside Dunkeld, it is also the perfect base for exploring central Scotland. It is also good for a weekend break, as not too far to travel from Edinburgh or Glasgow.
    Mr Reid - October 2014
The only thing I could find fault with was that the garden was not enclosed. As the house was pet friendly we could not let our dog go unattended. Well equipped house. Garden toys great for the kids. lovely location. Clean and tidy.
    Mrs Dunkerley - August 2014
The house was really well equipped and spacious and provided our family of five children and six adults with plenty of room to relax and chill. The log fires were a huge hit and the kids even argued over whose turn it was to bring in the logs. The garden and surrounding area was ideal too. We did find the bedrooms downstairs quite damp however and a bigger BBQ would have been appreciated, but overall a brilliant place for us all to get together..
    Mrs Cromar - August 2014
A superb house set in a beautiful location. Stunning views to the Loch and plenty of wildlife visitors, deer, red squirrel, partridges and many other birds. Close to Dunkeld where there are a few bars and eateries, supermarket and some nice shops, not to mention the chip shop. So close to the A9 and other attractions. We loved it!
    Mr Wild - February 2014
We stayed at Forebrae for a long weekend in late August, with 9 adults and 4 children between a 5yr old and a 7 month old. The house is in a great location, not far from Dunkeld but remote enough to feel secluded with great views over the surrounding area. The views are enhanced by the resident highland cows which were a great attraction for the young ones. The house is ideal for a large group, with plenty of space, and laid out to give a bit of breathing space with 2 living areas and bedrooms in different parts of the house. It is extremely child friendly with stair gates, and is superbly equipped with everything you may need for the family, including high chairs, toys, games, and a very well stocked kitchen. Outdoors there is a nice front garden, and behind the house a playground equipped with swings, climbing frame and trampoline. We were only there for 3 nights but it was a wonderful getaway which was enjoyed by the whole family.
    Mr Rigg - August 2013
A great house that is well stocked with all the bits and pieces you need to enjoy a break away with all the home comforts. Lots of advice on local activities etc.
    Ms Barnett - August 2013
Beautiful and well appointed cottage with everything you could need. Lovely gardens and very close to Dunkeld. We had a wonderful stay and several of the party said they'd like to come back.
    Miss Jones - August 2013
We had a lovely stay at Forebrae and the house has been kitted out with everything you could wish for, especially for young children. Highchairs, cupboard locks, stair gates, swings, sandpit, bath toys, toilet steps, eating equipment, huge toy box, to name but a few of the things that made visiting with our little ones a better stay. Everything else you might need for your stay has also been thought of and the place has a lovely outlook with huge garden. Also a great location for exploring nearby Dunkeld and Blairgowrie which are both lovely little towns. I'd have given the place 5 stars if it wasn't for a strong damp smell in the downstairs bedroom if the door and window was closed and the bed sheets in that room felt damp to touch so we felt we couldn't use it. Also a TV in the main living room would have been a welcome addition as this is where the majority of the seating is. As a whole a lovely place to stay though.
    Miss Smith - June 2013
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Forebrae (although a few of us had to leave early as our mother was not well and had to go home!). The description was 100% accurate! The house was very comfortable and there was everything anyone could possibly have needed - from a BBQ to a log burner! The only slight disappointment which could cause disgruntled teenagers was the fact that wifi was limited to where it worked in the house!
    Mrs Lamb - May 2013
The cottage was absolutely beautiful and catered for all our needs. The kitchen was one of the most well stocked we've seen, as well as catering for the children. The childrens play area was thoroughly enjoyed and the wildlife was wonderful. We have been holidaying in Perthshire for more than 30 years and as our family keeps extending it takes a lot to accommodate all the needs of so many people. Your cottage certainly ticked every box.
    Mrs Feeney - March 2013
We really enjoyed the coffee shops 'full of beans' and the Dunkeld Arts Centre (this is also very good for small children)
    Mrs Garden - January 2013
What a fantastic house. We had 4 families staying with plenty of room for everyone. The decor is modern with beautiful wood mantels, a gorgeous dining table. The kitchen is extremely well resourced with plenty big pots. Great outdoor toys for children. We would definitely book again.
    Mrs Fleming - October 2012
