Glenburn is a majestically positioned and beautifully finished house set on the hill on Whiting Bay with commanding panoramic views across the sea towards Holy Isle.

With luxury accommodation for four people, this is a very welcoming house which will be appreciated for its sheer space and attention to detail. Guests will be spoilt for choice when deciding from where best they are able to enjoy the uninterrupted views and can look forward to the prospect of a relaxing evening in front of the fire, as well some spectacular sunrises over Holy Isle.

Although just a few minutes from the beach and a short walk from local cafes and village delicatessen, guests to Glenburn will appreciate the tranquility of its location, making it a very relaxing place in which to unwind. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped and the dining area makes the most of the views out to sea. However, for those who prefer dining out, there a number of excellent places in Whiting Bay, as well as many more to choose from in Lamlash and Brodick.

From Glenburn there are many low and high level walks within reach, Glenashdale Falls and Giants Graves being the closest.

    Wonderful time was had by all and I would highly recommend this property. However, the unmade road that leads to the property could cause serious damage to some vehicles and a torch in the house would help to negotiate the road if walking after dark. However, the above are observations and would not deter me from staying again!! Thank you Karen and Rob.

    This was our first visit to Arran and what a way to start it arriving at Glenburn. The house was amazing with great views. Great facilities and information about local attractions. We walked up to Glenashdale falls which were beautiful especially as it had been raining the night before so they were in full flow. We also enjoyed a trip over to Holy Isle which we would highly recommend. Overall we had great holiday and will definitely be back.

    I cannot praise Glenburn enough. The property is stunning, wonderfully equipped and spacious. It certainly has the wow factor. The views from the large picture windows are fantastic; you could spend hours just staring out to sea. Karen was the perfect host, unobtrusive but next door if we needed anything. Be aware though that it is at the top of a fairly steep, partly unmade road. The cottage is located in Whiting Bay. Having never been to Arran before we were pleased we came here. The village runs along the shoreline, is beautifully maintained and although peaceful has all the facilities you need. We ate in Felicities a number of times and Coast, both which were good. Our favourite though was Bay Stores, just at the bottom of the drive. They sold everyone you could want and more, and their coffee and croissants in the morning were fab. Arran is great for wildlife, we saw seals, porpoises and deer. To summarise, an outstanding property with views to die for in a lovely village. Oh and we had wall to wall sunshine.

    Wonderful spacious and light filled house with stunning views. The house was immaculate and beautifully decorated. Everything had been thought of. The master bedroom really has the ‘wow factor’. We ate at home more than we usually do on holiday because the kitchen was very well equipped and the huge conservatory was a lovely space to eat in with better views than any restaurant. The house looks amazing in the photos on the website but is even better when you get there. I genuinely walked around the house in disbelief when we arrived! A wonderful place to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. Nothing to fault.

    I have stayed in many Self Catering properties in the UK including some very good ones in the Lake District but I can say that this is the best one I have stayed in by far. The property has an excellent location with splendid views and privacy. The accommodation is spacious and uncluttered with just the right amount of equipment for a pleasant and relaxing stay. A big thank you to the owners. I will certainly look to book again the next time I'm back on Arran.

    It's a beautiful spacious house, with lots of light (even when it was rainy outside), and a commanding view of the Firth of Clyde and Holy Island. We watched birds and ships through the big tripod-mounted monocular in the sitting room. Sadly it was too cloudy to make good use of the telescope in the conservatory, but we did lie on the heated conservatory floor and look at the stars when they peeped out. The location is good - there are lots of walks direct from the house, and the Bay Stores is nearby. The kitchen was very well equipped. There's an eclectic selection of books and lots of board games. It was good to have a washing machine and clothes drying rack. The house was nice and warm. The extra single bed was a proper comfortable bed, not a folding contraption, and there was plenty of room for it in the huge master bedroom. I think sunny mornings in midsummer could be a bit challenging as the master bedroom is so bright - there is fabric to hang over the bed frame, but this might not be quite enough.

    My Husband and I stayed at Glenburn over the Easter Holidays with our 2 dogs. What makes Glenburn so special are the stunning sea view of Whiting Bay and the Holy Isle. It was fully equipped with everything you need to offer that real home from home cosy feel. The weather wasn’t the best, however it didn’t matter as the property is so beautiful it was no hardship to stay indoors.

    Cottages & Castles Ltd. (acting as agents for property owners) provides a guarantee for tenants who have to cancel their holiday at a cottage.

    If it is necessary to cancel your holiday, for any of the reasons A 1-5 below, you may do so at any time up until the close of business on the last working day before your tenancy commences and we will refund your balance. Your deposit is not refundable. If you have made a late booking and paid in full you will receive your payment minus the normal deposit sum (usually 30%).

    There is no charge for this holiday protection – it is included in the cost of your holiday. Please note that the protection does not apply to holidays in our properties with codes beginning with P (usually castles, mansions and lodges).

    Deposits may be transferred to a different date for a holiday at the same property within 12 months of the original holiday date, subject to availability, but not, however, for a different property. If the new booking is at a higher rate the tenant must pay the extra cost. No refund will be made if the new date is at a lower rate.

    A:
    1. Death, accidental bodily injury, or illness (excluding pre-existing or chronic illness/conditions, or illness arising through epidemics or pandemics)
    a) the Proposer and/or persons with whom he/she has arranged to travel.
    b) any close relative or business associate of the Proposer or of any person with whom he/she has arranged to travel or arranged to meet at the specified holiday establishment. We will require appropriate documentary evidence of illness or bodily injury from a registered medical practitioner. This evidence must state that the Proposer is unfit to travel.

    2. Jury service, witness call or unemployment through redundancy of the Proposer after the date of booking and prior to the commencement date of the holiday.

    3. Fire or theft which is the subject of an insurance claim at the Insured’s main residence or business premises within seven days before commencement of the holiday.

    4. Occupational postings not contemplated at the time the holiday is booked.

    5. Cancellation or curtailment of scheduled transport services due to strikes, riots or civil commotion, but limited to the cost of alternative transport up to £50 per person for the outward journey only.

    But not, however:

    B:
    1. Disinclination to travel.

    2. Failure of public or private transport.

    3. Suicide, attempted suicide, insanity, the influence of intoxicating liquor or the effect of drugs not taken in accordance with treatment prescribed and directed by a qualified medical practitioner or booking a holiday which is or would be against the advice of a registered medical practitioner.

    4. Pregnancy unless problems occur which prevent the person travelling. A  verification must be signed by a registered medical practitioner to this effect

    5. Any loss which is otherwise insured.

    6. Holiday accommodation booked outside Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands
