Visit Arran's main village of Brodick (8.5 miles) to browse its shops and eateries and explore its historic castle and beautiful gardens. From here, keen walkers should take on the mighty Goatfell, the highest of Arran's mountains and the culminating point of some dramatic granite ridges. Or, for less strenuous terrain follow the Arran Coastal Way, which runs for 68 miles and promises breathtaking views at every step. Grenrof is a spacious and well-equipped cottage with the most amazing views of Whiting Bay from the lounge and garden. We had a wonderful few days exploring the island from this lovely base and would definitely come back.

Just like previous stay last year the grass was very long and untidy on arrival and the paths and patio areas badly in need of weeding I would have thought good management would organise grass cutting on a Friday the day before turnover
