Description

This traditional building conceals an absolutely charming and modern interior following a complete renovation.  The whole ground floor is now one room with plenty of light to enjoy the stylish, fresh presentation and remarkable views. The wood burning stove, soft tweeds and solid wood floors complete the picture making it the sort of holiday house you always wanted to find. Upstairs are two luxurious and delightful double bedrooms  - sloping ceilings, deep window sills, crisp linens  and gorgeous views across the fields and Strath give it great character as well as a sumptuous feel. The bathroom has both a modern shower and a tempting traditional claw foot bath that looks across the fields.

Outside Straloch Estate is a series of wonderful landscapes from rolling fields to rugged heather hills.  At its centerpiece is a beautiful loch where you can fish for brown trout (by arrangement) and have a barbecue on the island; there's the Millennium Wood with its tree sculpture, lochans and other hidden delights, and the Walled Garden to explore.  Most of all you will love the peace and beauty of this place. In the autumn you can hear the stags roaring on the hill, red squirrels can be seen on the feeder throughout the year and the birdlife is a delight. Dogs will relish the freedom here though they need to be well controlled as this is a working estate and farm.  They can run free though in the 5 acre Millennium Wood which is completely deer fenced.  

The property has robust environmental credentials and runs biomass heating from redundant wood felled on the estate.

Your own garden (fenced) complete with patio and furniture, mature plants and a small tumbling waterfall is a perfect spot for a morning coffee or an evening drink (small children do need to be watched due to the burn, although it is small and usually very shallow). There are also swings for children and a tree house with slide.   Next door is a fantastic little games room, shared with the next door holiday house, with a pool table, table tennis and darts board.  There is parking for up to cars at the rear and lockable bike shed.

Whilst you will relish the rural idyll, nearby you have Pitlochry complete with shops, theatre, pubs and more. Edinburgh is just over an hour away or head to the Highlands for a day. The house is beautifully located to explore. If you have a larger party the other estate holiday home sleeps 6 in equal style, Stalker's Lodge – ideal for 2 families.

    Keeper's Cottage reviews
    A really lovely cottage on a beautiful estate. The cottage has been beautifully renovated and is very comfortable throughout. The private fenced wood and lake with island were a real bonus to us as places to walk our dog in the early mornings and evenings and in between there are plenty of excellent places nearby to visit and walk. Children would love it here with the games room and outdoor facilities. The only problem we had was the wifi signal was very weak and we were unable to use email or browse on our laptops although our phones coped a bit better with the wifi. There was no phone signal.

    Keepers Cottage is a beautifully decorated and well equipped cottage. The wife life and walking is fantastic (Red squirrels feed on the bird tables) we visited culloden moor, Loch Ness,Queens view a week is not long enough to see so many historic places. Lucy was very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend keepers cottage for a amazing holiday.

Streets away from your average holiday house, the cottage is exceptionally comfortable and well equipped with everything you need for a memorable and hugely relaxing stay. The surrounding estate provides beautiful walks and scenery, and Lucy the owner is always on hand to assist with any requests. Can't wait to return again next year.

Location is perfect, cottage is beautiful, with everything you could ask for, and you get so much more. Absolute quality through & through. Keepers Cottage at Straloch is a real gem.     We could not have been happier or more comfortable at Keepers Cottage. The owners have gone to so much trouble in decorating and furnishing the house, it really feels like you are staying in a luxury hotel - streets ahead of your average Scottish holiday cottage. It is in the most lovely setting with brilliant walks and views. We will definitely be returning again next year, we could not fault it, we were dreading the end of our holiday.

    Cottages & Castles Ltd. (acting as agents for property owners) provides a guarantee for tenants who have to cancel their holiday at a cottage.

    If it is necessary to cancel your holiday, for any of the reasons A 1-5 below, you may do so at any time up until the close of business on the last working day before your tenancy commences and we will refund your balance. Your deposit is not refundable. If you have made a late booking and paid in full you will receive your payment minus the normal deposit sum (usually 30%).

    There is no charge for this holiday protection – it is included in the cost of your holiday. Please note that the protection does not apply to holidays in our properties with codes beginning with P (usually castles, mansions and lodges).

    Deposits may be transferred to a different date for a holiday at the same property within 12 months of the original holiday date, subject to availability, but not, however, for a different property. If the new booking is at a higher rate the tenant must pay the extra cost. No refund will be made if the new date is at a lower rate.

    A:
    1. Death, accidental bodily injury, or illness (excluding pre-existing or chronic illness/conditions, or illness arising through epidemics or pandemics)
    a) the Proposer and/or persons with whom he/she has arranged to travel.
    b) any close relative or business associate of the Proposer or of any person with whom he/she has arranged to travel or arranged to meet at the specified holiday establishment. We will require appropriate documentary evidence of illness or bodily injury from a registered medical practitioner. This evidence must state that the Proposer is unfit to travel.

    2. Jury service, witness call or unemployment through redundancy of the Proposer after the date of booking and prior to the commencement date of the holiday.

    3. Fire or theft which is the subject of an insurance claim at the Insured’s main residence or business premises within seven days before commencement of the holiday.

    4. Occupational postings not contemplated at the time the holiday is booked.

    5. Cancellation or curtailment of scheduled transport services due to strikes, riots or civil commotion, but limited to the cost of alternative transport up to £50 per person for the outward journey only.

    But not, however:

    B:
    1. Disinclination to travel.

    2. Failure of public or private transport.

    3. Suicide, attempted suicide, insanity, the influence of intoxicating liquor or the effect of drugs not taken in accordance with treatment prescribed and directed by a qualified medical practitioner or booking a holiday which is or would be against the advice of a registered medical practitioner.

    4. Pregnancy unless problems occur which prevent the person travelling. A  verification must be signed by a registered medical practitioner to this effect

    5. Any loss which is otherwise insured.

    6. Holiday accommodation booked outside Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands
