This cottage/bungalow is lovely. It is much larger than you think from the photos online. The bedrooms are very roomy and very comfortable. The lounge is huge and looks out over the excellent and large garden. There is a dining room, a large kitchen, utility room and an en suite and family bathrooms. There is plenty of parking and it is very quiet and secluded although only a short drive from the village. We did not actually go to the village store so can't comment on that. We travelled to either Aviemore or Inverness most days. The reasons I have given it a four star rather than the five star is for two reasons. Firstly, there is no shower in the en suite. There is a shower tap, but no wall hook and the room is decorated with wallpaper and hanging pictures over the bath, so no way of taking a shower in there. I have mobility problems so cannot get in and out of a bath very well. The shower in the family room was over a bath, which was a bit awkward for me, and the shower is not too great. It could do with a new shower fitting and would be useful if the en suite room was a shower rather than bath room. But then that's my problem I guess. The other reason is because, lovely as the Aga is, it was so hot in the house, especially the kitchen, that it was quite unbearable first thing in the morning until we could open all the windows again. It's probably lovely in winter, but in the heat we have had this summer, it was a bit much. I was a bit concerned about my grandson accidentally touching the casing of the range because that too was very hot. Otherwise, we had a very lovely stay and the cottage is full of DVDs, books, magazines, games etc, if you require them. The TV was Satellite although the size of the tv was a bit small for such a big room. We saw plenty of wildlife from the back windows, in the garden including deer, red squirrels, a weasel, rabbits and lots of different birds. We put out food and nuts and were rewarded with many visits. possibly another point worth mentioning is there are just a few steps down at all three exit doors. I found these a bit difficult, but then I have mobility problems and steps are a pain for me. The caretaker, is a lovely lady and she came round to see us to ensure we had settled in and everything was OK. First class care and the cottage was spotless. They even left us a pint of milk in the fridge. The larder has oils, gravy ingredients, condiments, and other bits and pieces which make life easier when self catering. There is plenty of crockery and cutlery and everything you could need really. There was nothing we wanted that was not there.

Learag is in a tranquil, private location but with easy access to the A9. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Beds were very comfortable for us. All the cooking utensils and facilities we needed were readily available. The shower is an over the bath type but more than adequate. Our boys have allergies and we were concerned that pillows or duvets might have feathers. Although nobody could provide information about this it turned out to be fine. We were unfamiliar with the Aga range but this turned out to be easy for cooking and was always warm - so welcome on cooler mornings. The house is south-facing and basks in dappled sunlight. The gardens are managed woodland and welcomed plenty of wild birds and squirrels, with deer in the fields beyond. Wifi worked well. We usually like to vary our holiday lets but this is one we would like to visit again.

3rd time staying at this wonderful house. Fantastic central location for visiting the north of Scotland. The bungalow is large with fantastic enclosed gardens, perfect for the dogs. Love the country interior and most of all the AGA. It is very homely and kitchen fully equipped. Have to thank the owner for sharing Learag and allowing it to be holiday let! Can’t wait to return!! I have been ill for some considerable time and booked Learag in an effort to recover. I have returned feeling a different person and back to my own self due to the relaxed holiday. The facilities are just exactly right for us. The bungalow was warm well furnished as a home and certainly had every utensil and cooking pots etc. making it easy with the Aga Cooker to relax in the house when not wishing to go out. I would recommend this property for anyone wishing to relax fully and just walk in the surrounding area together with the interesting and large garden which our Labrador found fascinating. The deer came into the garden together with the red squirrels and various birds. We once saw an eagle soaring above the property. Opening the curtains in the morning and seeing the deer meandering in the garden was lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return at the best opportunity. It really was home from home in lovely surrounding private and quiet area.
    Mrs Gorst - September 2017
We chose Learag for peace quiet and tranquillity. This property provided it all, The garden was amazing especially for our Labrador Oscar. There were walks right outside the gardens and a short walk over the woods to the shop in Tomatin which is adequate for holiday purposes and very friendly. We needed the peace as we had experienced illness for a few years and this holiday provided us with recuperation. I was a little concerned as there was just an aga cooker but this proved to be an excellent way of cooking. We saw deer in the fields adjacent to the property and even in the garden at one point. We also sighted eagles and of course numerous sights of little rabbits together with birds in the garden i.e. lesser spotted woodpeckers, chaffinches etc. A short drive away is a long road along the findhorn river (dead end) where people try to spot eagles and any other type of bird and deer on the craggy stops. We had excellent weather (which of course you can't guarantee) but it just added to a lovely holiday. Short drive into Aviemore or Inverness for more serious shopping if that is what you are looking for. We are visiting the property again in September.

    Mr Myles - February 2017
Learag is the most wonderful find. A perfect Highland getaway. Beautifully decorated, warm and comfortable with everything one could require. The situation is quiet and surrounded by rolling hills and marvellous walks. I certainly plan to return, with so much more to explore.
    Mrs Budgett - October 2016
What a lovely property in peaceful countryside. Has all the amenities you need, plenty of space and comfy beds but the location really makes it. I could easily have spent the week sitting in the garden enjoying the scenery and peace and quiet. Would thoroughly recommend.
    Miss Ball - July 2016
We had an excellent week in a very comfortable cottage, which I would highly recommend. The caretaker, Mrs Fraser, made is particularly welcome. My only suggestion would be that the gate to the drive is sagging a little, making it difficult to open for those not blessed with strength. But this is only a minor observation. I'll be booking again once I know dates for 2017.
Owners Response: "Thank you for your feedback and as a result the gate has now been fixed"
    Mr Robinson - June 2016
We had a lovely time in this gorgeous spacious cottage with our two toddlers. The cottage has everything you need for a wonderful trip away from home. The garden is so pretty and we had a great time playing in the snow.
    Mrs Adamson - December 2015
Wonderful for wildlife, with a red squirrel and roe deer seen in our own garden and five stoats seen on local walks.Well stocked village shop nearby.Within easy reach of Loch Garten and other Wildlife Reserves. A very lovely bungalow, very cosy with Aga and plenty of logs for a fire if needed. We thought it good value.
    Mrs Ward - June 2015
Best value for vista and house comfort, more than worthwhile.
    Mr Luyt - October 2014
Amazing cottage. Could see wild (e.g.) in garden which was great... the house is good and all facilities are excellent
    Mr Sundaram - August 2012
Learag is a very comfortable and well appointed holiday house situated in a beautiful environment. Our only complaint was that the water pressure was very poor and it took a very long time to run a bath. Also, if we had been fortunate enough to catch a fish, which we weren't, there was no deep freeze.
Owners Response: "Thank you for your feedback - there is a deep freeze at the property behind the garage, sorry this was not made clear to you."
    Mr Evans - August 2011
