The youngest and smallest in the Gannochy "family", this is a newly renovated cottage beside the Little Gannochy House. Inside it is simply charming with its double aspect windows making it bright and cheerful. The house has been stylishly refurbished with great quality from its slate floors to its new shower room and luxurious bedroom. The open plan sitting/dining/kitchen is a cosy spot to enjoy a quiet evening or a romantic meal for two. The en suite bedroom has a beautiful and sumptuous bed with antique linens and the shower room is brand new with crisp clean presentation.

Outside there is a seating area with furniture and the sound of the River North Esk tumbling through the gorge (salmon fishing can sometimes be arranged). There is a beautiful riverside walk through the ancient beech trees - a wonderful spot for peace and reflection.

This is a gem of a spot - a delightful cottage in a green and lush hidden spot. Perfect for a holiday whether young or old.

Cottage for 6, Little Gannochy is also available to book.

All on the ground floor:

Entrance hall, open plan sitting/dining/kitchen. King sized bedroom (can be twin) with en-suite shower room with WC & WHB.

    Littlest Gannochy reviews
We enjoyed our relaxing and peaceful break to Littlest Gannochy. We cooked a lot and found the kitchen well stocked, it might be small but perfectly formed. Having realised we left our cafeteria at home we were very please to find one in the cupboard. The big bed was as advertised, very comfortable and the shower was very powerful and just what is needed after a nice long walk along the river (just outside the door). We had read a review that the internet and TV did not work but our experience was completely opposite, we have full 4G on our Vodafone mobile phones and even streamed to our laptops, we also had the TV a couple of times which again had no problems at all. Perfect quiet getaway xx

The cottage is very good peace and quiet really good walks people are very friendly good butchers .
    Mrs Stahly - July 2019
What a wonderful little cottage. The bed was massive and reaaaaaaaalllly comfortable. The shower was simply the best - big, powerful, plenty of hot water! Sofa comfortable. Kitchen well equipped. No WiFi or phone signal - heaven! Everything we needed. There were even red squirrels in the courtyard too! Beautiful riverside walks into Edzell, plus also the other way through the blue door on the bridge - absolutely stunning. Only slight downside was the tiny weeny tv which was shockingly bad, but we read plenty of books instead which is no bad thing. All in all a lovely week and would highly recommend.

Littlest Gannochy is a beautiful little gem, perfect for a couples break. Unfortunately, as I run my own business I still need to have some connectivity and here there is........none! I have a mobile broadband connection on 3, my mobile phone is on Vodafone and my husband is on O2 and none of them connected a) within the cottage or b) anywhere close by. We had to drive to Brechin to get online. A bit frustrating which eventually led to us having to leave a day early because I just couldn't manage my business like that. Additionally, the TV was, and is still, advertised as having Freesat (TV with Freesat) but it only had a DVD player. I don't think it's right to say it has Freesat and then say 'oh but you can't watch TV' like that is OK! Finally, the wardrobe (cupboard in the hall) had 3 bent and twisted metal (dry cleaner) hangers and one 'broken' plastic hanger. I bought 10 robust velvet hangers for £1.99 in a high street bargain store and I left 4 so that the next person into the cottage would at least have some proper hanging space. Unfortunately, the above points would have an adverse effect on us returning unless I no longer had a business or we didn't require to be in contact with the outside world! On another point which doesn't reflect on the cottage. we are golfers and a pet owner however the local golf clubs do not allow dogs on with golfers. We asked at Edzell, Brechin, Montrose (2 courses) and Arbroath. We eventually got to play, and take the dog, on Letham Grange Golf Course. We obviously wouldn't leave the dog in the cottage as per the owners request.
Owners Response: "Thank you for review. We do not have internet at Littlest Gannochy and do not advertise that we do and there is very poor mobile reception in Edzell. The TV does have Freesat which was working when I checked a couple of weeks ago. If you had contacted me I would certainly have gone to investigate and try to sort it out for you. Usually it just requires turning on the Freesat box with the remote. Hangers - my apologies! You would be amazed at how often they leave with guests. I will replace them now and again I would have done so if I had been informed. I am always disappointed when someone is unhappy when they leave and would have been more than happy to resolve any issues during your stay. Thank you"

I so enjoyed my stay here, I felt revived on leaving. Lots of walks, the sound of the river and the red squirrels were plus points outside. Inside the cottage was tasteful, comfortable and cosy. I am planning to return later in the year as it was a lovely break. Thank you.
    Mrs Mclean - February 2019

    Mrs Stahly - July 2018
This little cottage on the Gannochy Estate was absolutely superb for two people. The setting was idyllic ( red squirrels in the courtyard) and a beautiful river valley across the road. The furnishings were excellent and I don't think I've ever slept in a more comfortable bed. If you want peace and quiet and comfort then this is the cottage for you. The only suggestion would be for some coat hooks as if it rained ( and this is Scotland) there would be nowhere to hang wet coats. The surrounding area is beautiful and for an excellent lunch try The Arch in nearby Fettercairn
    Mrs Lovejoy - May 2018
We were surprised that their was no wifi facility also that there was no TV signal so it had to be DVD's & the selection was limited. The shower was very good and the bed was comfortable.
    Mr Gibbs - October 2017
This was our first time in Scotland. We loved staying in this cottage, it was so peaceful and the bed was really comfortable. A great location. We would recommend highly and would even come back again ourselves.
    Miss Button - July 2017
Our second visit to cottage. Lovely place, everything on hand in cottage you could want. Biggest, most comfortable bed I've slept in.Quiet, private, peaceful surroundings. Edzell itself is a lovely wee place, everyone very friendly and helpful. Plenty to see and do in this beautiful part of Scotland. Can't wait for our next visit.
    Mrs Mcallister - June 2017
What a lovely wee cottage and so very comfortable. We were made to feel very welcome on our arrival and the riverside location was perfect for me and the dog. There was so much walking to choose from with the riverside walk nothing short of stunning. What a lovely touch having a little vase of fresh flowers on arrival.
    Ms Brechin - January 2017
We found this a lovely place to stay and a comfortable cottage. We did miss having no television or wifi and it would have been nice to have curtains on all the windows in the living/kitchen area. We were fortunate with the weather but at night it would make the cottage cosier.
    Mrs Ward - October 2016
The cottage is very comfortable throughout and has been tastefully decorated and furnished. Although it is not large it is extremely well equipped. Upon arrival we were very pleased to see we had been left milk, tea/coffee, fresh flowers and some very tasty local bread, which were very welcome. The central heating is controlled from the large house next door and came on for a short time morning and evening, which we thought might be a problem, but there are two electric fires provided which are more than adequate. You don't need them on for long before the rooms are toasty. We had a very enjoyable holiday visiting distilleries and coastal towns all within driving distance for a day out.
