    Luangwa Lodge reviews
Great location at the top of Blackwaterfoot ,the lodge has a quiet peaceful setting in immaculate rounds.Accommodation is perfect for a holiday with everything you need and in pristine condition. Overall a great place to get away to.
    Mr Crawford - May 2019
Very good and big house, clean and well equipped.
Mr Van Der Heijden - April 2019
Excellent well equipped lodge in a great location just outside Blackwaterfoot which has a superb local butchers and bakery. Lodge is very well equipped and we felt very cosy and secure inside when the weather was less than clement outside! Great base to explore Arran from.
    Mr Fardon - August 2018
Had a great holiday at Luangwa Lodge. Really nice lodge, had everything we needed and fantastic views of the hills from the windows. Good location for outdoor activities, cycling and walking trails etc. Wish we could of stayed longer, everyone enjoyed their time, was V sad to leave.
    Mrs Rodger - July 2018
    Very nice Lodge.
    Mr Mckay - May 2018
Excellent location in well maintained site: close to village and beaches.
    Ms Arthur - March 2018
This is an immaculately kept, perfectly kitted-out holiday lodge in a great location, on the "sunset" side of Arran, a short walk from the village of Blackwaterfoot, which has great local amenities. The accommodation is comfortable, clean, bright and airy with high ceilings and exposed wood giving it a slightly Alpine feel. Great views across to Goatfell and nearby hills, with a handy terrace to watch the sunset. Good location, just a half hour from the ferry and handy for Blackwaterfoot which boasts a hotel with nice pool, bar, and restaurant, the island's only butcher, and a well-stocked Post Office/shop (a wider range of exotic gins and fever tree tonics I've never seen in a local shop!). Well- equipped kitchen allowed us to cook island delights from said butcher while the hotel was handy for meals out. Great for walking to the King's Cave and a short drive from Machrie Mor standing stones. Easy to get to Broadick to climb Goatfell and visit the nearby Arran brewery, Equally handy for Lochranza with its castle and distillery- all worth a visit, the brewery especially. Great to have such a lovely home-from home on those rainy days when we were recovering from lots of hiking the day before. The owner, Linda, provides lots of local books and guides as well as a stock of board games for quiet days. Handy to have WiFi too, though I enjoyed pretending we didn't so I could get away from all! TV signal not always great, but this is a Scottish island, so that's expected. DVD player meant we could watch our favourite films instead.
    Mr Whitehead - August 2017
Lodge was so well equipped we had a competition to see if we could find anything missing !?!? It was a pastry brush to coat our frozen croissants with milk!?!?! We managed somehow!!!!? We particularly enjoyed Holy Island and Thyme cafe (fantastic food) with great area for children and adults to play. We were party of 3 adults between 40 and 70 and 2 children aged 6 and 7.
Mr And Mrs Towers - July 2017
We visit Arran every year for a week in the summer. Usually we stay in Lamlash or Brodick. This year we decided on Blackwaterfoot. Luangwa lodge was available and at a fair cost. We were joined by my daughter, her husband and seven year old granddaughter. The lodge was very comfortable. Good space and well equipped. Towels were not supplied, bed linen was but although clean was a bit tired. Outside space was great, plenty room for a lively seven year old to safely run around. Surrounding lodges were quiet and well looked after. My only complaint was that the lodge was not attended by cleaners after each visit. We left it cleaner than we found it. This is unfortunate as it is an excellent accommodation.
Owners Response: "Thank you for your review and awarding Luangwa Lodge four stars. We are glad to know that you enjoyed your visit to the Lodge. In addition to changing over beds, doing laundry etc. our caretaker does check out the Lodge carefully to ensure that all is in order for the next guests. We do ask guests to assist our caretaker by leaving the Lodge clean and tidy in order to ensure that this can be achieved in the limited time available and I would like to take this opportunity to thank guests for their assistance with this."
    Mrs Shields - July 2017
We could have given this lodge 5 stars if cleaning had been provided. We were asked to strip beds and leave clean as no official cleaners come in. All tidy when we arrived but several large cobwebs and sticky fingermarks on windows. This could be improved by a good cleaning service between let's. Otherwise good quality
Owners Response: "Thank you for your review and awarding Luangwa Lodge four stars. Our caretaker who carries out the changeovers really appreciated the help you gave with stripping the beds and leaving the lodge tidy so that she was able to get the lodge ready for the next guests in the limited time she had."
    Mrs Harding - June 2017
