As you enter Mill House, it immediately feels like the home you have always wanted with a bright and cheerful ambiance, a stylish design throughout and a garden to delight in. The large conservatory is where you will probably spend most of your time looking across the beautiful stone walls, bespoke stone seating, BBQ pit and the pretty garden. If you are lucky, you may see magnificent golden eagles spiralling above for they nest each year on the cliffs opposite. The surrounding hills are home to deer which are readily visible.

The rest of the house continues the comfort and the master bedroom is luxurious with its own sitting room with large TV, en-suite shower room and doors to the patio. The kitchen dining room is beautifully equipped and decorated, as is the sitting room with its extensive array of art and collections. Upstairs two further bedrooms, also en-suite – a rare luxury in the self catering market.

This part of Arran gives you the best of both worlds – a mere 15 minutes from Brodick, surrounded by spectacular scenery and only 10 minutes from the wonderful seaside on the west coast.

    Mill House reviews
Lovely big house but somewhat isolated. Once house was warm it was lovely but lack of instructions as to how the heating worked made it difficult. Also instructions for tv and electrical items and general household information were lacking. Folder with emergency numbers or people to call if any problems would help. Stunning location albeit a bit too far from amenities. The house is dog friendly but there is literally nowhere to walk a dog within a couple of miles. Garden not secure which meant we had drive to take our dog for exercise. A welcome pack on arrival would have been appreciated. Underfloor heating in conservatory and walk in showers were nice. No phone signal at house and WiFi sketchy. All in all we had a great week and we would go back.
    Mr Cameron - August 2018
A lovely house in a beautiful location, but not equipped for 6 people. Despite three double en-suite bedrooms, two had no wardrobes or provision to hang clothes and the dining table was only for four people and hence we couldn't all eat around the same table. The general maintenance of the house left something to be desired with many light bulbs needing replacement, no plug in one of the bathroom basins and there was a general lack of instructions for important services, especially the heating.
    Mr Clay - September 2017
A delightful holiday home. Although 5 miles from Brodick,it only took a short time to travel there. We enjoyed visiting most of the island and found the cottage very well situated. The cottage was very attractive and comfortable. We found the sitting room next to the master bedroom a bonus. We had to turn the heating off as we were too hot! The following points are not complaints- just points to consider. 1. As we had a baby with us a small washing line would have been helpful ( not all fabrics can be dried in washer/ drier) 2. Hot water supply rather erratic 3. Tv instructions not very clear. No pin code for Bang and Olufsen tv.
    Mr Whitehead - July 2017
Spacious comfortable and quiet house in an ideal location on the middle of the string road. Lovely scenery and garden. Would stay there again.
    Mr Culshaw - July 2017
This is our 2nd holiday using Cottages and Castles for our Accomodation. Both properties has been very good. The Mill House was excellent. The property was very homely and had an excellent standard of epuiptment throughout. The only point I could make is there are no wardrobes in the upstairs bedrooms. This is most definitely a property we will visit again
    Mr Currie - June 2017
A stunning house in a remote location which gives you seclusion and a great base to explore the island. A really spacious house with excellent facilities. Well equipped with everything you need to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Our own issue was that we had to hunt for all the instructions to work the appliances, such as heating and fire, but once the house warmed up it was excellent.
    Mr Sutherland - April 2017
Beautiful cottage, surpassed all our expectations. Great location for exploring the rest of the island.
    Mr Mcdonald - July 2016
Located almost in the center of Arran, this cottage made it easy to explore everything and everywhere during our one week stay. The remoteness of the location means no telephone service and the wifi is slow and spotty, but since I am retired this didn't bother me in the least. The bedrooms, plumbing, and appliances were top notch. There are plenty of opportunities for all levels of walkers. My favorite memory of our visit was a whisky tasting experience at the Arran Distillery, followed by a wonderful lunch in their restaurant. A couple of niggling problems: we couldn't get the gas fire to come on and we couldn't figure out how to adjust the volume on the television.
    Mr Bruer - May 2016
This is a lovely house in a beautiful setting with plenty of space for a family of five. There are lots of different living areas if you need some peace and quiet. We found it to be very clean and comfortable, not too far from anywhere as it is in the middle of the island - but wouldn't want to stay there without the car. I have an allergy to down, and the bedding was changed for me, which was really helpful. There is no phone signal at all at the house, but there is wifi which is fine for checking emails etc. The manager was helpful when we couldn't get the TV to work, getting back to us with the codes very quickly. We were initially a little uncomfortable with the fact that the owners had photos everywhere of their children - it made us feel like we were staying in someone else's home, rather than in a holiday let - and this was added to by the fact that every room had drawers and cupboards filled with their personal effects and clothing. We had to move some things to make space for our clothes. We also felt the kitchen could do with some more cooking equipment, as there were only three pots and not one baking tray to be found. That said, we had a brilliant time, and would stay again. Arran is beautiful, even in the pouring rain and hail! For dinner, we can really recommend Fiddlers in Brodick - really good food, and great service as well (even when dealing with three very tired, fussy, small children!).
    Mrs Storey - March 2016
Mill house was a delight to be in, beautifully furnished and the perfect location for exploring the island of Arran. The master bedroom is a real treat with a huge bed and beautiful en-suite shower room. We had adults and children in our group and both enjoyed ourselves equally. Beaches were visited during the day with picnics and evenings were spent with the little ones in bed, enjoying the gorgeous conservatory which was very quickly labelled as 'the grown up room'! Mill house was a treat to stay in, and I hope we will be able to visit again. Thank you.
    Mr Bettoli - August 2015
The location of the house in the nature as well as the decoration and technical equipment were absolutely outstanding. We enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend the Mill House.
Mr Von Arnim - August 2014
Mill House is a very smart home with attractive living areas and plenty of space to relax. It is exceptionally well decorated and fitted out which means that staying here is a real luxury. There is a beautiful conservatory and garden to enjoy and the location is remote but very central for accessing all areas of Arran. We enjoyed coastal walks especially on the West of the island.
    Mr Raven - July 2014
A lovely property in a great location on the String Road. A couple of minor hiccups were speedily resolved and we felt very well looked after. The conservatory was a most comfortable place to sit and admire the lovely garden. The house in general, and the kitchen in particular, were well equipped. We had plenty of sunshine, but the house would be a great place to stay, whatever the weather. It would have been helpful to have some hanging space in the upstairs bedrooms and an information file (re the electrical equipment etc).
