A singularly pretty stone built cottage on the banks of the River Tay, this cottage is simply delightful.  When renovated it was with the emphasis on style and comfort; the cottage exudes quality. The drawing room has been cleverly situated on the first floor allowing you to enjoy the beautiful river views and with its welcoming wood burner this is a great spot to enjoy the sound of the river or its salmon leaping. The cottage retains some lovely original features such as tongue and groove lined walls and old fireplaces.

There are three very comfortable bedrooms and an inspiringly welcoming dining room/kitchen, where you can enjoy preparing and eating meals. There is a garden laid to lawn surrounding the cottage and ample parking.

For those who enjoy game fishing, the name may ring a bell, for this was the home of Miss Georgina Ballantine who caught the largest ever salmon on rod and line in Britain - a 64lb giant. The stone where this giant fish lay before it was hooked can still be seen. If you are not into fishing, then you will still love this gorgeous part of Perthshire. Nearby are Caputh and Dunkeld - both lovely villages and there is a wealth of things to see and do here

Second floor:

Spacious drawing room. Double/twin bedroom with sink.

    Miss Ballantines Cottage reviews
The cottage is lovely and spacious with wonderful views from the upstairs sitting room. Situated close to the river there are a number of walks which don't require you to drive anywhere. There are fabulous places in both Murthly and Spittalfield (Walk in Café) where you can enjoy lovely coffee and home baking. A visit to the House of Bruar is always worthwhile and it is great to include a trip to Pitlochry theatre with dinner in their restaurant. While the house is lovely it would benefit from some TLC. Some of the chairs in the sitting room are a bit worn and threadbare and it would also be helpful to have some additional crockery. These factors would prevent a 'five star' rating. That said we would definitely consider going back for another holiday.

This is a lovely cottage in a very accessible location overlooking the Tay. The sitting room, with its log burner, and dining kitchen made the holiday. Dunkeld is a good town to have nearby and the station there was very helpful for our children coming and going when joining us for a few days
    Mr Inglis - October 2018
Miss Ballantines Cottage was a delight, very homely, very relaxing, went there with my elderly parents and their big dog, and if dog is happy , parents are happy and I am delighted. All boxes were ticked , my husband and father went fishing and mum and I explored Dunkeld, Dunkeld Hotel for a lunch in their gardens, very tasty, a browse in the lovely shops in Dunkeld , The Gallery & Jeffrey Interiors were a great hit and a nice coffee in the corner bistro that sells lovely cheeses and filled rolls. Weather was great so we ate happily in the garden with the barbeque supplied and enjoyed the walks along the Lupin fringed banks of the river. Fab break away!

Gorgeous cottage, worked very well for our family of 5 with 2 bedrooms downstairs. We had a lovely stay.
    Mr Carter - October 2017
Lovely cottage and location. Lovely views over the river from first floor lounge. Two more easy chairs required in the lounge not enough seating for six adults. The TVs is too small and the remote control did not work at all even though we purchased replacement batteries. The controls On the oven temperature scale have worn off so difficult to set but the oven burns everything anyway, really needs replacement. Appeared clean on arrival but many cobwebs at ceiling level. Stair rail on left at top of stairs very loose requires attention.
    Mrs Mason - July 2017
Very comfortable cottage and nicely furnished, especially the sitting room. Very convenient for Perth, Dundee, St Andrews and of course the area around Dunkeld. (We could have done with more plates and cutlery as there were 6 people ...)
Dr Kassis Henderson - October 2016
Excellent Cottage and very spacious. Clean and presentable throughout and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Caputh. I would highly recommend the accomodation for anyone looking for a ski weekend at Glen Shee ski centre.
    Mr Sperrin - February 2016
We had a truly great stay at Miss Ballantines. The upstairs living room with views of the river and a fireplace is marvellous. Three very generous and comfortable bedrooms. Great garden too. You can get fantastic smoked salmon at dunkeld smoked salmon on Brae street.
    Ms Bogers - August 2015
The house is in a lovely setting and it is beautifully decorated. As our party is a bit spoiled from our former rentals in Great Britain, I do need to mention some flaws of the house which mostly can be easily taken care off: The window in one of the lower bedrooms does not open. The oven is not working - only the grill, we had to be inventive. The house sleeps 6 people easily and all 3 bedrooms are very nice, yet there is only one full bathroom which makes some heavey traffic if you are renting with 6. We had been only be two people and a dog and that was ok. Very good place for a dog as he does not need to walk stairs and the garden is pretty secured. Our dog loved to enjoy the sun outside the kitchen in the garden. The house is ideally situated when you want to go on hicking trips but also when you want to visit Edinburgh. You can do all in under two hours. A definite "must" is Blair Castle and its gardens as well as the Kingdom of Fife and its idyllic small villages. We did enjoy our stay and Scotland did offer us loads of sunshine!
