Moinadh is an oasis of peace and tranquility with panoramic sea views and spectacular sunsets over the Mull of Kintyre. This traditional white-washed Arran cottage is full of charm and character and provides an idyllic holiday home. Surrounded by large grassed garden and grassy fields, it has a feeling of space and seclusion, although it's within easy reach of the village amenities.

The self catering holiday accommodation provides spacious modern living with all the comforts of home. Many of the rooms face due south, capturing the natural light and warmth of the sun. The stone barn extension contains a large lounge room with deep sofas, a log burning stove and Sky TV. The sun room is a delightful retreat where you can watch the wildlife and spectacular sunsets over the sea. There is also an extra snug/TV room where the children can have their own space. Moinadh will appeal to families looking for a relaxing holiday and also to golfers and walkers on active breaks.

Outside, the gardens are enclosed and safe for children to play, with a paved patio, garden furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining. There is an enclosed a dog kennel available for guest pets, if required.

The bird feeding station attracts many types of birds and the garden is alive with bird song. This quiet, undisturbed area is a haven of tranquility and is home to a wealth of wildlife, including seals, otters, raptors and a large number of sea birds. You may also see a rare white pheasant passing through the fields.

A short stroll leads to the amenities of Blackwaterfoot, a former fishing village clustered around a tiny harbour, just big enough for 2 or 3 boats. The village has a friendly, 'laid-back' atmosphere and is self-contained with a grocer, post office and butcher and the local hotel has a bakery with fresh morning rolls. There is also a garage for petrol and cycle hire.

    Moinadh reviews
A wonderful place for our family to gather and spend some quality time on Arran. Even in the poor weather, the views from the conservatory were stunning. The cottage felt very “homely” and had everything we needed and more. The lounge and wood burning fire were awesome and the “starter pack” of logs was enormous. My son and I played nearby Shiskine golf course which is possibly the most picturesque I’ve ever played.
    Mr Mcleod - November 2018
Fabulous position would stay again. Shame there is no footpath direct from the garden to the beach. Gift left for us on arrival which was lovely. Bread bakers and butchers at Blackwaterfoot ...fantastic.
    Mrs Brown - August 2018
Great location and spotless accommodation although paper and rubbish had caught in scrub and ferns outside rear sun room. Could do with topping up the crockery supply (especially mugs) given the capacity of the property. Several dinner and side plates were found to be chipped /cracked. Steak knives would also prove extremely useful. Grass should also be cut weekly during the summer season as it was long on arrival and extremely long on departure? Local farmer also trotted down driveway, 4 or 5 x daily and passed close to kitchen and living room windows - this soon became a tad irritating and intrusive! Also worthy of note that CD players don't always work, especially the one situated in the sunroom. Entry code supplied by Cottages & Castles was incorrect and local contact had to come to the rescue! Payphone has been removed. Gas BBQ is actually a charcoal BBQ. Toilet rolls soon ran out - previous properties have always supplied adequate supplies of sundry goods? Opening of windows proved extremely challenging.
Owners Response: "Thank you for your review. Paper and rubbish caught in scrub and ferns outside rear sun room - very unusual - except we are very exposed to the elements so I will ask the housekeeper to keep an eye on this. Crockery recently has been replaced, now at least a dozen mugs and steak knives have been replaced again recently also. Grass is under contract for a 2 week cut but sometimes weather doesn't always permit the gardener to cut the grass on time. The farmer has the right to the fields sometimes walking down the drive. I will ask him not to approach the house when visitors are in. Was not aware that the CD was not working properly. This will be looked at the next time I am over. The new entry code to the house was given to Cottages and Castles but obviously has not filtered through in which Cottages & Castles are dealing with. Usually there are 2 toilet rolls left in each bathroom. Payphone has been removed as we were finding it difficult to work with BT on the Island. The gas BBQ has been removed and this will be looked into, meantime the Charcoal BBQ is on site. I was not aware of any problem opening windows at Moinadh. I hope overall you did have a good holiday ."

Great house met our needs as a family. Views were spectacular.
    Mrs Hird - September 2017
Great authentic island house. We shared this house with both family and friends. The layout was incredibly flexible and accommodated all very well. The views and feeling of space inside and outside the property were second to none. It is in an ideal spot to feel away from people and the hustle of everyday life.
    Dr Lane - August 2017
This is an amazing house suitable for a family holiday/ reunion/ celebration. There is plenty of room for adults and children( kids loved sleeping in the snug away from the adults!) we loved the views toward the mull of kintyre and regularly spotted seals early in the morning. The outside space is safe for children to play. The kitchen is well equipped and the utility area ideal for storing shoes, wellies and coats. We did not feel isolated at all. However, the road to Blackwaterfoot is not really suitable for walking safely as there's no pavement. The beach at Blackwaterfoot was a favourite as there are lots of rock pools which the kids loved pottering around in with their fishing nets. The golf course at shiskine was felt to be excellent value for money by our golfers. We all walked to kings caves one morning via the golf course in very mixed weather but still enjoyable! The butcher in Blackwaterfoot sells excellent meat, sausages, burgers and fish which we cooked on the BBQ. We loved our holiday here and although the weather could have been better for us, this house is warm and comfortable. The log fire burner was a nice feature on wet evenings. We could thoroughly recommend this house- its a well loved property in a wonderful location.
    Mrs Forbes - July 2017
The house is lovely and the views were fantastic, but there are just a couple of things which would have improved our stay. Neither of the locks on the two bathroom doors worked and with 10 people in the house including two children this was not ideal. The lovely patio doors didn't work, therefore we could not enjoy the room as much as we would have liked and the wifi didn't work. Although the house was a good size with a good size garden it is a real shame there is not access down to the beach as for us this would have made the location of the house perfect. Also a washing line outside would also have been a huge help.
Mr And Mrs Bell - August 2016
    Mr Gunning - October 2015
We had a family gathering at Moinadh to celebrate our Golden Wedding and it was a huge success. The house was just right for our party of six adults and four children & the snug was particularly well used by the children. If we couldn't find them that would be where they were. The only slight drawback was that the house was further from the village than we expected. Arran even managed to lay on the most fantastic weather. Our thanks to all for a memorable stay.
    Mrs Ross - October 2015
Felt as if we were house guests in someone's home
    Mr Dunse - May 2015
Excellent property - fantastic lounge with log burner and fantastic snug area above the lounge for the children - aged 8,5 and 2 but would be fantastic for teenagers too. TV in the snug and a sofa bed. Highlight of our stay was the New Years Eve sleepover in the snug with the children in their fold-up beds :-) Lots of happy memories and hope to be back again for New Year 2014 :-)
    Mr Barnes - December 2013
This is a lovely house in a great setting with sea views. It suits larger family groups with enough space to come together or have your own space. Situated within walking distance of the town of Blackwaterfoot.
    Mr Findlay - July 2013
We loved the house, great location for 9 of us. 6 x adults, 3 x teenagers and 1 dog. Very spacious with lots of extras like games, DVD's, books. The sun room is a great room to enjoy watching he sunset at the end of the day. Will definitely return
