  • A short walk into Blairgowrie
  • The perfect base for walkers, golfers and fishers
Property code: CA248

A charming 19th-century converted cottage located in beautiful grounds, surrounded by an abundance of wildlife and within a short walk of the bustling town of Blairgowrie, which has an array of cafes and shops. An ideal base for exploring Perthshire and all that it has to offer.

For walkers, the Cateran Trail starts in Blairgowrie, weaving its way through 60 miles of majestic terrain; or why not explore the more local Bluebell Wood Walk, or head up Knockie and round down the River Ericht to Cargill’s Leap. Further afield, for the day tripper, is The Hermitage at Dunkeld or Queen’s View at Loch Tummel or the slopes/hills at Glenshee. For golfers, the Rosemount course at Blairgowrie Golf Club is 2 miles away and has an 18- and nine-hole course. Local golf courses include Dunkeld, Alyth, Strathmore, or you can travel to St Andrews or Gleneagles. For fishers, the world-famous River Tay weaves its way through Perthshire. Alternatively, there is the River Ericht in Blairgowrie where day tickets for salmon or trout are available, or a number of lochs nearby. Perth is just 16 miles away and Dundee is 19 miles distant. There are numerous tourist attractions in the area, from Glamis Castle and Scone Palace to The V&A Museum in Dundee and the newly opened Perth Museum. You can also travel to Blair Atholl and Pitlochry, visiting the Blair Atholl distillery, castle, or the Pitlochry Fish Ladder, or the famous House of Bruar.

The front door opens into a bright hall/conservatory with a seating area. To one side is a bright, spacious sitting room, with comfy sofas, a lovely flame effect electric fire, and a TV to keep you entertained. Off the sitting room, you’ll find the large, well-equipped kitchen; a stylish space where you can spend sociable evenings enjoying a meal at the dining table. Off the hall to the right, up a short flight of stairs are the two twin rooms, similarly decorated with warm, cosy tones. One twin has an en-suite shower room, while the other has a private bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Outside is a large walled garden, which is fenced, a paved patio with a seating area ideal for al fresco dining, enclosed dog run and ample parking.

In Blairgowrie, you'll find a friendly town centre and shops and cafes offering fresh produce from the nearby farms, especially soft fruit in summer. Surrounding Blairgowrie are woodlands, known to be some of the most beautiful bluebell woods in Perthshire. Come in spring to see the flowers in bloom. The town also has its own golf club if you want to practice your game while away.

Blairgowrie is also the starting point for some fantastic walking on the popular 60 mile long Cateran trail. Around a mile from the town centre is Cargill's leap, a small waterfall, which makes a good easy walk. 19 miles from the property is the hill town of Glenshee. In winter, Glenshee is a skiing town. In summer, the chairlift opens so you can easily get up the hill and enjoy the spectacular views out over the Cairngorms. The rest of the Cairngorms are easy to explore from the property too and there is a centre for hiking, climbing and white-water rafting, with adventure sports available all year round.

A little closer, 16 miles from the property, is the Tay Forest Park. This park offers both challenging and gentle walking through woodlands and alongside lochs. The bustling town of Pitlochry is 23 miles away where you'll find great shopping and dining, a spa and the famous Blair Athol Distillery.

The cottage is very comfortable in a great location for exploring the Cairngorms. We saw plenty of wildlife in the field beyond the cottage. Deer on a daily basis and red squirrels which was magical. There is no drier for guest to use but there is a washer.

We thoroughly enjoyed our sweltering hot week at this cottage. Well equiped kitchen and comfortable beds. Very comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Garden is lovely and we saw roe deer, pheasants, rabbits and red squirrels every day from the cottage. Location is ideal with so much to do and Pitlochry and Dundee as well if lots of lovely countryside all very close by.

Very comfortable, well equipped and beautiful cottage. Spotlessly clean . Ideal for our lab dog who loved to play with her ball on the big lawn. Great to see the deer in the field. Would definitely recommend it.

This is a wonderful cottage. Well located close to Blairgowrie town but it felt very rural with the field next to it where we saw deer most days. A lovely spacious cottage. Well equipped kitchen and lovely four legged neighbours (deer). We also had a pheasant come and visit every evening. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us so could not explore as much as we would have liked.
