Located near the coastal village of Gardenstown, Palace Farm Cottage is the ideal self catering property for those looking to explore the seaside towns in Moray and the castle trails of Aberdeenshire. Named after the farm it is situated within, the cottage is set amongst the rolling countryside hills beside a quiet road.

The cottage has been recently refurbished to provide comfortable accommodation for holidaymakers. The sitting room contains a large woodburning stove which is capable of heating the whole house, so enjoy spending your evenings in front of the cosy fire. The kitchen is well equipped and contains everything you will require during your stay here. Each of the bedrooms have been tastefully decorated and the comfortable beds with high quality linen are sure to be a welcome sight after a busy day of exploring! Overall, Palace Cottage is a great base from which to explore this fantastic part of Scotland.

Gardenstown is a picturesque fishing village built into the cliffside on the Moray coastline - an area that is well known by keen wildlife spotters for the abundance of birds and dolphins that are often seen in and around the village. There are plenty of historical sites to see, such as an old kirk, Pictish forts and Bronze Age archaeological sites nearby. There are regular boat trips from the bay too, which are well worth doing during your time here. Further afield, other seaside towns such as Cullen and Portknockie are great places to explore the great outdoors. For those looking for a bit more hustle and bustle, then Aberdeen itself is just over an hour’s drive from the cottage and has many attractions for the family to enjoy.

    Palace Farm Cottage reviews
We booked the cottage after a cancellation, and as a result got a far better price than was initially advertised. A great little cottage which is within an hours drive of a host of stunning Moray Coastline with hidden coves, beaches, and old fishermens' cottages by the sea. We used the cottage as a base for striking out on coastal walks with our dogs. I used Macduff and Banff for buying food etc, although maybe 8/9 miles away it is less than 15 minute drive and there are Tesco, co-op, smaller shops, chip shops, takeaways etc. Now the downside, the cottage could do with an enclosed garden with perhaps a picnic bench for alfresco eating / drinking without fear of the dogs straying out as there are many sheep, horses, cows etc close by. (it was described on the ad as having an enclosed garden) The cottage could also provide a wee welcome / information pack outlining where things are, how things work, nearest doc, dentist, hospital, and also where is the best places to eat locally (minor thing, but we have seen info sheets like this in other cottages we have rented in the past, and found them to be invaluable) Apart from that we couldn't fault the place, and Robbie and Pearl are very lovely hard working people who respect your privacy but ensure that you are aware that they are close by if needed.
Owners Response: "Response from Cottages & Castles : Thank you very much for your review and on checking we do not mention an enclosed garden so sorry you thought this was the case. We are glad you enjoyed your holiday overall"
    Mr Smith - July 2018
Unfortunately there are a couple of errors in the listing. No enclosed garden nor outdoor furniture. We had our dog with us and it made a slight problem in that we couldn’t just let him out early morning and last thing but it didn’t affect our enjoyment of our holiday. The weather wasn’t nice enough to sit out, and had it been, the lack of a nice garden and some seating would probably have been frustrating. The area is lovely with rolling verdant fields, stretching away as far as the eye can see, beautiful villages tucked under steep cliffs and pleasant towns. Unmissable were Gardenstown, Crovie (do the walk between them along the shore) and Pennan. There are some stunning beaches that we often had to ourselves but of course during the peak holiday season that will be different. Dunn House in Banff is worth a visit and the woodland walk nearby a delight for owner and dog. Our other favourite town was Turriff. Fordyce, a wee village inland was also worth a visit. Because we had the dog we didn’t eat out but coffee from Dunn House to take away was excellent. From the cafe at the beach in Fraserburgh overpriced and disgusting. We liked the Coastal Cuppie at the end of the pier at Pennan.
