Poppa’s Cottage is set in a delightful row of green and white painted terraced cottages in the heart of the seaside village of Lamlash. Enjoying one of the most beautiful settings on the Island of Arran, this 19th century former estate worker’s cottage is filled with historic character and has uninterrupted views across the picturesque bay to the magnificent Holy Isle beyond.

Poppa’s Cottage is a much-loved family holiday home perfectly located on the Lamlash seafront just a short walk from the village pier, shops, restaurants and bus stop giving access to the whole island and allowing you to leave the car behind. With the beach just across the road and a large village green at the front, this is a perfect holiday destination for all the family. The bench right outside the front door is a favourite spot for relaxing while admiring the view and watching the world go by. Seals are often spotted sunbathing on the nearby rocks along with a wide range of seabirds and the occasional inquisitive dolphin.

Inside this homely cottage you will find a cosy sitting room with a large bay window allowing the natural light to flood in and taking full advantage of the fabulous view. This relaxed room, decorated in a traditional cottage-style with a collection of china, grandfather clock and comfy seating, is an ideal place to spend time after a day exploring this interesting island. The characteristic steep cottage staircase leads up to two double bedrooms and the third compact double bedroom, allowing the cottage to sleep up to 6, is located off the dining room. The well-equipped kitchen leads out to a bright utility room and the family bathroom.

Arran, with its incredible diversity of landscapes and seascapes, is often referred to as “Scotland in Miniature”. There is something for everyone whether you’re looking for an action-packed break or to just get away from it all. Poppa’s Cottage, which is on the island’s east coast just 5 minutes’ drive from the main ferry town of Brodick, is an ideal base and perfect starting point for a memorable holiday.

    Poppa's Cottage reviews
Lamlash is a lovely location on the island with good restaurants, Lamlash Bay Hotel very good and Glenisle Hotel also very good.
    Mrs Elliott - June 2019
Beautiful cottage, small but well-appointed, it could comfortably sleep six but is probably best suited to couples. The only toilet is downstairs, which are frighteningly steep, so may be inconvenient for some. to You can really feel that this is a family place, lot's of board games, puzzles and DVDs for lazy, rainy afternoons. Tastefully, neutrally decorated, there are a few ornaments etc that need to be moved out of way of kids. Internet is functional but intermittent. Not a problem for most people looking for this type of break but if you're hoping to do serious online work or stream a movie it won't happen. We holiday every year in Scotland and found that Arran offered everything. Superb walking with maps and guide books in the cottage - something which is often overlooked. The distillery at Lochranza is great - generous tastings, unpretentious advice and some 'distillery exclusive' whiskys that you won't find elsewhere. The shops and pub are both within walking distance. There are restaurants in Lamlash, all of which need booking for the evening. The Pier Head tavern has nice beer, live music and OK food. The Lamlash Bay Hotel has excellent food and service. Also try the Coffee Pot in Whiting Bay, friendly people and great place for a lunch time bite. Do not miss the sea life centre about 300 metres to the right along the sea front Would definitely come back.

Lovely homely cottage, with literally EVERYTHING you need to be at home for a week. I forgot our flask...there was a flask. I made up some sandwiches there was cling film! And to wake up to that sunrise was just awesome.
    Mrs Dobson - December 2018
Poppas cottage was a first class place to stay. It was comfortable and cosy and a real home from home. Lamlash was a great town to spend time in and we had lovely food and great fun in both the Pierhead tavern and the Lamlash bay hotel. Our stay was further enhanced by the fantastic after stay service by Colin Syme . I left a jacket in the cottage and Colin pulled out all the stops to return the jacket to me. A real 5 star experience.
    Mr Campbell - September 2018
Very well equipped, but maybe a few too many knlck-knacks and ornaments when young children are about. Shame about the restricted headroom in the bathroom. Lovely views from bay window.
