Surrounded by water on three sides, with the Summer Isles framed by the Torridon Mountains, Reiff Beach Cottage is in one of the most spectacular settings in NW Scotland and really is one of the hidden gems of the Highlands. Several sandy beaches and rock pools are waiting to be explored, all from the doorstep. Fishing, kayaking, bird watching, walking, photography, painting or observing the abundant wildlife on land and shore will fill your days without the need to drive anywhere. Seasonally, prawn, crab and lobster can be ordered from local fishermen, whilst a few miles along the coast there is a friendly pub serving food, a general store and an excellent restaurant at the Summer Isles Hotel, known for its seafood. Ullapool is less then an hour by car and has an arts centre, museum, leisure centre with swimming pool and range of shops, restaurants and pubs, many of which have live music in the evening.

This is a place to spend lazy days absorbing the sheer beauty of the surroundings followed by nights round the fire with only the sound of waves on the beach. The house has a seaside feel with white floorboards throughout and warm and natural fabrics, wool and furs. There is one bathroom and another shower room. Each of the four bedrooms has its own colour theme and individual style. The main sitting room has a large viewing window with comfortable sofas round the fire and armchairs in the window to put your feet up and admire the garden and mountain views. Great care over the environment and sea is taken by this cottage as it is set within an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Reiff Beach Cottage is on the western edge of the Coigach Peninsula which is reached by a quiet winding road passing the famous Stac Pollaidh and running through a valley of lochs with the stunning Coigach mountains on either side. From the top of the hill before a sharp turn right to Reiff, there is one of the most unforgettable views of the Summer Isles spanning the horizon. Guests can spend days watching the ever changing sea or looking across the Minch to the Hebrides, south to Skye and north to the mountains of Sutherland. Here the seasons are dramatic, each with their own extraordinary colours, views and sounds. Visitors are attracted here to be reminded of nature's rhythms away from the stresses of modern life. If you want to star gaze, peer into rock pools, sail round islands, walk coastal paths, listen to music and song, climb mountains, capture breathtaking sunsets, stroll deserted beaches, catch wild trout for breakfast, then this if for you.

This property has a garden cottage that is used by the owner from time to time.

All on one level:

Access from main door into hall, lounge, four bedrooms, shower room with WC and WHB, bathroom with bath and separate shower, WHB and WC, kitchen/dining room, utility room, porch to rear door.

By special request, guests are asked to bring environmental products if possible. Great care is taken of the marine environment and an attempt to restore the Reiff Loch is underway so their help would be appreciated.

This property has a garden cottage that is used by the owner from time to time.

    Reiff Beach Cottage reviews
Beautiful house by the sea. Well equipped and very spacious. Amazing views and beautiful area to visit. The weather was amazing which was a bonus. I very much recommend this house.
    Mrs Ritchie - July 2019
This excellently presented and equipped and roomy property is in an enviable position in a satisfyingly remote hamlet in Coigach, miles from anywhere on a single track road. It delivered exactly what we wanted. Understandably pet-free. There are great walks in the area, abundant bird life, solitude and quiet. The place is exemplary for its emphasis on sustainability and environmental sensitivity. We were there only a week but would have been very happy to have stayed longer.
    Prof Leadlay - July 2019
"Reiff Beach" is a great place to stay for all in search of some true tranquility. It offers great views over the coastline and the nearby lake as well as the Summer Isles! The house itself is very comfortable, well-equipped and offers (almost) everything one can expect. Communication with the caretaker went well. We only stayed for two nights but we definitely enjoyed our time there!
    Mr Schlindwein - June 2019
The cottage is warm, comfortable, very well equipped and plenty of room for our family of six adults and two children. The location is beautiful with a beach metres from the large garden with the Atlantic on one side and a sea loch at the rear. Great views of the mountains of Skye and on the mainland. Greylag geese rearing their young along with ringed plovers, oystercatchers, dunlins, sandpipers, Great Skuas, Red-breasted Mergansers, Common Scoters and many more all spotted from the house. Our family were there particularly for the rock climbing and Reiff has quality sandstone sea cliffs with routes of all grades within walking distance. An ascent of The Old Man of Stoer was perhaps the highlight. Abundance of really good hillwalking readily accessible, beaches for the children. Local shops to keep stocked up with essentials, boat trips to the Summer Isles - never a dull moment for those wishing to get away from all of life's trappings!
    Mr Cole - May 2019
Fantastic house, excellently stocked/equipped, surrounded by stunning scenery.
    Mr Mckendrick - December 2018
Spacious homely cottage. Original and unique. Not thoroughly modern which is a refreshing change from the modern minimalist style favoured by many. Washing machine and dishwasher came in very handy with 4 children in our party. Original artwork throughout. Very comfortable beds. Warm cottage. Great views of the loch and plenty of wildlife to see. Whatever the weather, staying in Reiff is a wonderful relaxing getaway. Loved the 'secret beach' at the other side of the loch. We had it to ourselves. Local shop about 6 miles away but well stocked. We also went to the local Ceilidh which was a real taste of local culture. Boat trips can be taken locally for wildlife watching (we saw seals, birds and porpoise). The clear night sky's are also a treat. We saw shooting stars and the milky way on a clear night.
    Mrs Fletcher - August 2017
I've never felt quite so at home in a holiday cottage as I did here. The house might not be 5* in the traditional sense of 'perfection' but if you are looking for a very comfy, cosy and peaceful home-from-home then this is the one for you. My family (Ages 2, 5, 32 and 37) had amazing adventures exploring the rocky bays and climbing the hill on the island to the cairn. We lit the fire pit, toasted marshmallows, played and chased in the garden and looked out the massive living window to see sheep, birds, rabbits a stoat and a toad. The nearby (15 minutes) shop at Achiltibuie is amazingly well stocked and the local restaurants/bars/cafes were lovely too. With the kids being so young, we couldn't start exploring from the water, but we saw many people rock climbing and a few kayakers too. It was a week of pure heaven, with no telly (the view was far better!), plenty reading, family time, cooking and chatting. I honestly wish we could have called it our own and would love to still be there!
Mr And Mrs Hopkins - July 2017
Great location between the sea and the loch. Rooms were clean and tidy. Felt at home. Didn't use the sitting room much as the kitchen with table felt more homely. Shame the view from this window wasn,t that of the living room. Sunsets were fantastic and loved sitting round a driftwood fire under the evening sky which never got completely dark! Peace and tranquillity reign. Roxy (our Cocker) loved having rabbits in her garden. Nothing like a cold dip in the sea in the morning to clear the head!
    Mr Arnold - June 2015
We had a great week at Reiff Beach Cottage. The house is pet-friendly, well-equipped and has a lot of space. There was a lot to explore around Reiff, e.g. the fantistic Summer Isles Festival at Achiltibuie, Stac Pollaidh, trips towards Lochinver, Loch Assynt, ... excellent holiday
