Set on the sunny Kintyre Peninsula which boasts huge skies and dramatic sunsets, this delightful Victorian stone-built villa is just steps from glorious long stretches of sandy beach warmed by the Gulf Stream. Newly renovated, this semi-detached holiday house is perfectly placed for exploring the many Scottish islands that surround this magical part of Argyll with ferries to Islay & Jura, Arran, Colonsay, Gigha and The Cowal Peninsula all nearby.

With a fresh modern feel yet still retaining its traditional charm, Rothmar East will always welcome you home after an active day out and about. The delightful sitting room with its cosy open fire and large stylish sofas make it a wonderfully relaxing retreat for all seasons and the spacious open plan kitchen and dining room offer plenty of space for everyone to gather and enjoy holiday meals. The large traditional sash windows enhance the character of this charming house and allow natural light to flood in, and the wooden floors in the kitchen and play room are kept invitingly warm by under floor heating. Upstairs, the four comfortably furnished bedrooms all boast lovely views either out to sea or over the hills and have the luxury of crisp white linen and soft towels.

The large ¾ acre private garden is ideal for all the family - summertime barbecues and lazy afternoons can be spent on the patio under the pergola or relaxing on the lawn by the palm tree and there is a wildflower garden at the rear of the property with views of the hills to the South.

This forty mile long peninsula with its hills, lochs, rivers, forests, beaches and rich history has a gentle pace of life and friendly local atmosphere creating all the characteristics of Scottish island living - it is easy to see what captivated Sir Paul McCartney when he wrote the world famous song "Mull of Kintyre".

2 well-behaved dogs are welcome on the understanding that they are not allowed upstairs and must be kept off furniture at all times.

    Amazing location, great drive down the whole length of Kintyre. Beautiful scenery and peace and quiet with lots of places to explore with the kids. House is lovely, the front bedroom with a view of the golf course and the sea is a treat! Spacious sitting room for family games and a lovely kitchen for eating for 8 of us. Great garden for football matches and running around. You must go to the tea room on the way to Southend. Lovely family run place with great food. The local beaches with the seals were great fun. The adults enjoyed the championship golf course and the kids enjoyed the shorter course. All in all, an amazing holiday.

    Large and comfortable house in great location with lovely views over the Machrahanish golf course to the sea. Beach very close by - ideal for bracing walks. Hotel and pub only a short stroll away serving well presented food. Dog friendly café called Amelia's Bistro in nearby Campbeltown does a good all day Scottish breakfast. The Network Tearoom just outside Carradale also welcomes dogs and some way marked forest walks around there. Fantastic views over to Arran from the 9 hole golf course at Carradale. We played there a couple of times and were allowed to take the dogs with us on the course.

    We were so happy to arrive at Rothmar East. We were able to relax and feel at home. The 'housekeeper' was very kind, finding us a cot for the little one and a Moses basket with stand for the baby. The house is beautiful, well appointed and kitted out. The disappointment was that we only had a weekend there.

    The house was perfect for two families with plenty of space to relax. It was modern, very comfortable and has everything you need. Fantastic views across the Sea from the house and easy access to the Beach and Golf course. We made use of the pub and restaurant next door which had great menu (and carryout!). The garden is huge with lots of space for kids to play. The area has breath-taking scenery and would strongly recommend a trip to the island of Gigha. The Machrihanish Golf course was as good as any of the St Andrews links courses with a well stocked pro shop.

    A large and comfortable house overlooking the golf course and the sea. It was very clean and well-equipped although we were surprised that there was no hair-dryer. We did have to report some rain ingress to the owner but it did not spoil our holiday. The garden is great for children. We would love to return.

    Lovely house in a great spot for the beach and golf courses. House was clean and tidy with a thoughtful range of goodies to eat and drink. Garden was excellent with loads of room for kids and dog to play. The kids also made good use of the pool table and darts board. The range of books was great.. We loved the underfloor heating in the kitchen too. Only minor shortcoming for us was intermittent broadband. We had a great time and would definitely return.

    Cottages & Castles Ltd. (acting as agents for property owners) provides a guarantee for tenants who have to cancel their holiday at a cottage.

    If it is necessary to cancel your holiday, for any of the reasons A 1-5 below, you may do so at any time up until the close of business on the last working day before your tenancy commences and we will refund your balance. Your deposit is not refundable. If you have made a late booking and paid in full you will receive your payment minus the normal deposit sum (usually 30%).

    There is no charge for this holiday protection – it is included in the cost of your holiday. Please note that the protection does not apply to holidays in our properties with codes beginning with P (usually castles, mansions and lodges).

    Deposits may be transferred to a different date for a holiday at the same property within 12 months of the original holiday date, subject to availability, but not, however, for a different property. If the new booking is at a higher rate the tenant must pay the extra cost. No refund will be made if the new date is at a lower rate.

    A:
    1. Death, accidental bodily injury, or illness (excluding pre-existing or chronic illness/conditions, or illness arising through epidemics or pandemics)
    a) the Proposer and/or persons with whom he/she has arranged to travel.
    b) any close relative or business associate of the Proposer or of any person with whom he/she has arranged to travel or arranged to meet at the specified holiday establishment. We will require appropriate documentary evidence of illness or bodily injury from a registered medical practitioner. This evidence must state that the Proposer is unfit to travel.

    2. Jury service, witness call or unemployment through redundancy of the Proposer after the date of booking and prior to the commencement date of the holiday.

    3. Fire or theft which is the subject of an insurance claim at the Insured’s main residence or business premises within seven days before commencement of the holiday.

    4. Occupational postings not contemplated at the time the holiday is booked.

    5. Cancellation or curtailment of scheduled transport services due to strikes, riots or civil commotion, but limited to the cost of alternative transport up to £50 per person for the outward journey only.

    But not, however:

    B:
    1. Disinclination to travel.

    2. Failure of public or private transport.

    3. Suicide, attempted suicide, insanity, the influence of intoxicating liquor or the effect of drugs not taken in accordance with treatment prescribed and directed by a qualified medical practitioner or booking a holiday which is or would be against the advice of a registered medical practitioner.

    4. Pregnancy unless problems occur which prevent the person travelling. A  verification must be signed by a registered medical practitioner to this effect

    5. Any loss which is otherwise insured.

    6. Holiday accommodation booked outside Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands
