Smuggler's Den near Corrie is a spacious and welcoming ground floor apartment situated just metres from the shore and benefitting from fabulous sea views. Otters are frequently spotted from the front windows, who usually make their appearance around breakfast or dinner time, so keep your eyes peeled - how exciting! Offering well equipped and comfortable accommodation for up to 8 adults and with a south facing garden in which to relax, its enviable location would particularly suit families and outdoor enthusiasts as there is a large shed for cycles and outdoor equipment.

A wide choice of walks are accessible from Corrie, including Brodick Castle, the forestry tracks and access to Goatfell. Kayaking is also popular in this area, as well as the possibility of playing at one of Arran’s seven golf courses. In addition, guests can look forward to a range of wildlife, including frequent sightings of otters and seals. Lochranza is also less than 20 minutes drive, and home to the Isle of Arran Distillery. From Lochranza there is also the option of a short ferry ride to explore the Kintyre peninsula.

Just five minutes from Brodick, with its shops, galleries and restaurants, Smugglers Den would make a very comfortable and welcoming base from which to explore the Isle of Arran.

    Smuggler's Den reviews
    Our party aged from 5 - 75 and we all absolutely love Arran & we loved Smugglers Den! A very well appointed & equipped house, so comfortable & clean, with an excellent garden. The small beach across the road provided hours of entertainement- watching otters, hunting for crabs etc. The nearby Corrie Hotel was fantastic for dinner, and we drove to Brodick every day. The kids loved soap making at Arran Aromatics, seal watching at the Duke's Beach & we had a fantastic day out at Brodick Castle where the kids spent hours playing in the Adventure Playground. A really happy family holiday for 3 generations & we cannot wait to go back.

    An amazing location and a really comfortable house, with everything you could need for a perfect holiday on Arran. Wildlife and sightseeing every day and still plenty more that we never got around too, with some great cafes all over the island

    Smugglers Den is truly the perfect house for a family holiday. We had 8 adults and two infants. The house has everything you need for a house full of people. It's clean, has all the necessary equipment. The garden is lovely and secure. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is :- The decking in the garden is actually dangerous and needs attention. The ensuite bathroom really needs an upgrade, there were nails protruding from a wooden baton ! The sitting room could benefit from some more small lamps. In the evening we had to bring bedroom lamps through. I would return without hesitation.

    Fantastic property with room for a large group of people end otter/seal spotting to congregate or enjoy individual space. Views are terrific with hours of fun spent otter/seal spotting.

    This is a comfortable, welcoming and thoughtfully equipped place. It is spacious and easy to share, with plenty of room. The views and environment are peaceful, calm and the large kitchen and sitting room are sociable, relaxing areas. An excellent base for exploring by car and bike . An easy drive to Brodick for food and other shopping, Brodick castle and the brewery, cheese shop and gift and coffee shops in one direction and the beautiful villages of Corrie and Sannox in the other.

    Very spacious and comfortable accommodation. The only downside was a noisy water pump. Everything else was very well appointed. We watched otters, seals, oyster catchers, curlews from the front of Smugglers Den. Crossing the road to the shore needs a little care as the traffic tends to speed along that stretch of road. We ate at Stags Pavilion in Lochranza and had a superb meal which was very reasonably priced. Also ate at the Corrie hotel and had good well priced food. The sandwich cabin in Lochranza does amazing sandwiches but get there early as the bread can run out! It's a few years since we visited Arran and although there seems to be more traffic and people about, the island hasn't changed. It does the soul good to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the glens and hills in the north and the views from the west coast over Kintyre out to Jura.

    We were a group of 7 late middle aged! walkers. Everything in the cottage was in good condition (Except shower over the bath). Comfortable beds, large lounge, well appointed kitchen. Excellent location to travel by car and bus. Good views out to sea - we did see wild life but no sea otters. Had a nice meal at the Corrie Hotel on our first night.

    Great location , spacious property ideal for family get together. Plenty hot water, well equipped house. My only criticism is that we arrived on a cold evening and there was no heating on so it took the whole evening and night to get the place warm, once it was warm , it was very comfortable.

    Excellent cottage. Only 2 of us stayed so was obviously much bigger than our requirements but the cottage is very spacious for 8 people. Great kitchen with everything you require. Lovely huge dining table with views out to sea. Great place to eat breakfast while looking at the sea. Garden at the side of the house is a real suntrap. We visited in Sept and where able to sit out on the decking to relax in the sun. Bedrooms and bathrooms all well equipped and comfortable. Loads of towels available. 1 large TV in lounge with sky. Who needs that though when you have the views out of the window. Location of cottage is amazing right on the waterfront, only the small road between us which has very limited traffic even though it is the main coast road. There is not much in the immediate vicinity to walk to so you are isolated. Nearest pub is 2 miles away in Corrie but not suitable to walk on the road in the dark. Corrie Hotel is a great pub though. Lovey tiny mini harbour there too. We walked over to the waters edge on first morning and immediately saw an otter. How beautiful! Great cottage , great choice.

    Cottages & Castles Ltd. (acting as agents for property owners) provides a guarantee for tenants who have to cancel their holiday at a cottage.

    If it is necessary to cancel your holiday, for any of the reasons A 1-5 below, you may do so at any time up until the close of business on the last working day before your tenancy commences and we will refund your balance. Your deposit is not refundable. If you have made a late booking and paid in full you will receive your payment minus the normal deposit sum (usually 30%).

    There is no charge for this holiday protection – it is included in the cost of your holiday. Please note that the protection does not apply to holidays in our properties with codes beginning with P (usually castles, mansions and lodges).

    Deposits may be transferred to a different date for a holiday at the same property within 12 months of the original holiday date, subject to availability, but not, however, for a different property. If the new booking is at a higher rate the tenant must pay the extra cost. No refund will be made if the new date is at a lower rate.

    1. Death, accidental bodily injury, or illness (excluding pre-existing or chronic illness/conditions, or illness arising through epidemics or pandemics)
    a) the Proposer and/or persons with whom he/she has arranged to travel.
    b) any close relative or business associate of the Proposer or of any person with whom he/she has arranged to travel or arranged to meet at the specified holiday establishment. We will require appropriate documentary evidence of illness or bodily injury from a registered medical practitioner. This evidence must state that the Proposer is unfit to travel.

    2. Jury service, witness call or unemployment through redundancy of the Proposer after the date of booking and prior to the commencement date of the holiday.

    3. Fire or theft which is the subject of an insurance claim at the Insured’s main residence or business premises within seven days before commencement of the holiday.

    4. Occupational postings not contemplated at the time the holiday is booked.

    5. Cancellation or curtailment of scheduled transport services due to strikes, riots or civil commotion, but limited to the cost of alternative transport up to £50 per person for the outward journey only.

    But not, however:

    1. Disinclination to travel.

    2. Failure of public or private transport.

    3. Suicide, attempted suicide, insanity, the influence of intoxicating liquor or the effect of drugs not taken in accordance with treatment prescribed and directed by a qualified medical practitioner or booking a holiday which is or would be against the advice of a registered medical practitioner.

    4. Pregnancy unless problems occur which prevent the person travelling. A  verification must be signed by a registered medical practitioner to this effect

    5. Any loss which is otherwise insured.

    6. Holiday accommodation booked outside Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands
