A delightful cottage in a charming hidden away part of Perthshire, Southwood Cottage is a lovely holiday house. Surrounded by large gardens and fields you can walk for miles from the door without seeing a road. The cottage is part of the large Southwood House and grounds but has its own driveway, garden area and entrance so remains private. On the day we visited a roe deer was grazing on the lawn so here in this peaceful spot the wildlife comes to you.

The house is furnished and presented extremely comfortably and is a quality holiday destination with a welcoming feel. There is a big dining kitchen – well equipped and sociable as well as a separate lounge. The single bedroom is on the ground floor so useful for those with less mobility. Upstairs two spacious bedrooms have lovely views across the gardens and fields.

Southwood is only 3 miles from Crieff where the well known Hydro can offer you most activities plus some you have never heard of. The Trossachs National Park is simply stunning and can be explored easily from here. The famous Gleneagles beckons for a spa, dinner or golf and even Edinburgh and Glasgow are easily reached for a day trip. The cottage is a perfect rural retreat to come back to whether you are here on holiday, to golf or just to relax.

    Southwood Cottage reviews
Lovely rural location but close to Crieff and a range of local attractions suited to a range of different tastes; hill walking, beautiful drives around Strathearn, coffee shops in Crieff and a wonderful French restaurant in Crieff, Yanns. The cottage is attractively decorated and well equipped. The sitting room is cosy and the main double bedroom in particular has beautiful views. The heating is controlled by the main property which is attached. The owners are very helpful.

We had a brilliant week in Southwood Cottage. Many lovely local walks in nearby Crieff (we saw a red squirrel on two occasions) as well as spectacular walks in the mountains nearby (saw two Eagles by loch Turret). The cottage was very welcoming to come home too after a days walking. We found the internet access was very good downstairs. The lounge is nice and cosy and the kitchen and it's table a nice big sociable place. Both showers are really good - difficult to decide on which to use. Nice big and comfortable double bed.

We had a wonderful week in this lovely cottage. Its a home from home. We will happily stay here again when we visit family in the area.
    Mrs Clifford - August 2018
Very well-equipped property, friendly owners, quiet and peaceful holiday place
    Mr Benes - August 2018
The house is in a lovely peaceful location, yet within a few minutes drive of Crieff. The town offers shopping and eateries which are v enjoyable. We found the house had an ideal layout for us. The Wi-fi was v patchy and didn’t cover the whole house. The property was let down by lack of attention to detail with some much needed items being missing. Shame, as it’s such a great setting.
Owners Response: "There is not usually a problem with the internet in the main areas of the cottage and connection is generally quite good considering the rural location. However, the internet can be patchy if there are several devices all operating at once. We have responded to the suggestion of providing the missing items and would be very happy to expand our facilities accordingly to any further requests. We are relatively new to the holiday let market and strive to improve all the time, therefore we welcome any helpful advice from our guests."
    Mr Sharp - July 2018
We have just returned from a lovely week at the Southwood Cottage just outside of Crieff. What a relaxing and peaceful cottage. The cottage is part of the owners own property but they left you totally alone to enjoy your holiday but if had any problems, which we didn't they were on hand. Sitting outside on a wonderful sunny evening was sheer delight away from the hustle and bustle of normal work life. The deer running across the land of an evening was a splendid sight. The cottage was comfortable and cosy and the welcome pack was a great help after our long journey and we didn't have to worry about food shopping until the following day. Two of our friends joined us half way through the week and there was plenty of personal space for bathroom/shower use. Would definitely go back of we stay in the Crieff area again.
    Mrs Oxley - July 2018
We had a wonderful week at Southwood Cottage - helped in no small way by the fabulous weather. The cottage itself is comfortable and well equipped with mist items we would need. We were unanimously agreed that the showers were the best ever! Location is wonderful, walking from the door. Nice quiet lanes for cycling. Crieff has all you need for supplies and places to eat and drink. Further afield - the mountains and lochs were so inviting. India was very friendly and approachable and quickly provided the odd bits and bobs that we couldn't find. Wholeheartedly recommend and hope to return. Thank you so much.
    Mrs Theaker - May 2018
Peace quiet and tranquil fabulous place and area
    Ms Clements - May 2018
A well cared for and welcoming cottage. Perfect for a few days escape. Kitchen and bathrooms were nicely stocked. Kitchen had a few essentials such as bread, eggs and butter. Bath towels and bedding were also good. We did get lost on our way there but the owner graciously rescued us! Internet service a bit spotty. TV reception is good. Variety of places to eat locally from formal to pub food. Location was great for day trips. Truely beautiful countryside. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at Southwood Cottage. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
