Description

Set in what can only be described as a spectacular, secluded, elevated position above Loch Ness, directly overlooking the historic Urquhart castle “Strone Castle Cottage” is a charming property fully refurbished in early 2017 with some of the most picturesque views we have ever seen. Several Loch Ness television documentaries have been filmed from the property over the years due to its unique vantage point overlooking both Loch and Castle, the most recent being Channel 5s documentary on the monster “Conspiracy: The Missing Evidence” in November 2014. The property has been lovingly restored from a derelict building to a stunning, sympathetically remodelled cosy two up two down but’n‘ben croft house sitting high in 3 acres of rough hill land. There are sites, possibly ancient siege works, currently under archaeological investigation by Historic Environment Scotland in Edinburgh.

The property was the subject of a 3 page design feature in Scotland on Sundays “Homes & More” property magazine in May 2017 and has featured in numerous other newspaper articles. You can watch our vlog for Strone Castle Cottage on Youtube here.

The open plan kitchen/dining area has been refurbished with beautiful oak flooring and boasts a Rangemaster oven with induction hob which is sure to be loved any serious cooks. The large original sandstone lintel over the fireplace compliments the newly exposed ceiling beams warmed by a generously sized classic wood burning stove. The sitting room has the same oak flooring, exposed beams, recovered sandstone lintel and wood burner as the kitchen and has been furnished tastefully with luxuriously comfortable couches and tartan chairs and stools that you can sink into at the end of each day. Put some beech logs or peat on the fire and relax reading one of over 50 rare books available on the history of the area and the monster, watch one of over 30 Scottish classic movie DVDs or play one of the numerous board games available with a dram in hand or just relax in front of the large television to catch up on what’s going on in the outside world. Limited mobile WiFi is also available throughout the cottage for those with a greater desire to keep in touch with anything and everything.

Upstairs both bedrooms take advantage of the amazing views on offer. Newly installed wrap around dormer windows upstairs provide uniquely spectacular panoramic views up and down the loch as well as directly over the castle which when lit up at night completely fill the windows while those on the back look all the way down beautiful Glen Urquhart. Each of the bedrooms has been sympathetically decorated keeping the traditional pointed stone structure on the gable walls as a feature while again exposing the wooden ceiling beams while the tartan curtains and lavish check patterned bedding pay homage to the cottages Highland heritage.

The cottage contains some unique pieces of handmade furniture and décor; antique meal girnels, stag antler lamps, highland cow horns, railway carriage coat hook shelves, pig hot water bottle and old irons located downstairs with a spinning wheel and church pew seat upstairs. Outside there are antique Avery weights, Highland scythes, mill stones, whisky barrels, lobster creels, an anvil and granite rollers to complete the rustic croft feel.

The property grounds have several purpose made viewing points where you can spend the day to make the most of the various breath taking views with accompanying gardening furniture and a barbeque. Numerous Roe deer and pheasants can be seen regularly in the garden and the Loch itself is in constant motion throughout the year. When not scouring the loch for the monster, there are always boats of all types and sizes, as well as daily fly pasts from RAF Lossiemouth with Tornadoes, Typhoons and occasionally two Nimrods all of which fly below the level of the property.

    Strone Castle Cottage reviews
The location of the cottage - above Urquhart Castle and overlooking Loch Ness - is as beautiful as it gets. The house itself has only recently been refurbished. It is tastefully and lovingly equipped with country-house-style furniture and will make you feel at home immediately. Within easy reach there are shopping facilities and good places to eat out, lots of sightseeing objects and many places where you will love to go hiking. There are just two minor downsides to the cottage. One, there is no storage space to hang anything in (you will probably not bring smart suits or evening dresses to the Scottish countryside, but then again: who knows?). Two, when you are in front of the wash hand basin, you won't be looking into a mirror but out to the landscape; the bathroom mirror is next to the toilet seat and has poor lighting which makes making up or shaving quite challenging. That said, we would book this wonderful property anytime again!
    Prof Neuber - December 2018
This was a great find. The cottage is lovely, clean and cosy. It is really the location that is the best part of it! It is secluded with an amazing view. I would highly recommend this for a family (it has 2 double bedrooms and 1 bathroom a living room and an open plan kitchen).
    Prof Esser - December 2018
Couldn't have asked for a better stay at Strone Castle Cottage. It's beautifully presented, well equipped and set in a fantastic location overlooking Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness. Close to Inverness and a great base to explore the rest of the Highlands, what more could you ask for!? Wouldn't hesitate in staying again.
    Mr Knight - December 2018
This was our second visit to Strone Castle Cottage. It was just as wonderful as we remembered it. A magical, fairytale, cozy, peaceful, absolutely adorable little hideaway. We will be returning here again I have no doubt.
    Mrs Rolley - November 2018
Everything lined up perfectly, from the weather to the foliage peak, to the accommodations. Highly recommend this cottage. The owner and caretakers were very personable and highly interested to make sure that the stay was memorable.
    Mr Carlisle - November 2018
There aren't enough words for me to adequately describe how much we loved staying in the Strone Castle Cottage on our recent trip. It's such a charming place on the hill overlooking Loch Ness and has many comfortable upgrades and all the mod cons you could ask for. We were truly sad to depart the cottage when we moved on to our next stop on our trip, but we will absolutely plan to be back to stay here again in the future.
    Ms Kilker - October 2018
Die Unterkunft ist einfach nur super mit Top-Einrichtung und sehr freundlichen Vermietern. Der Blick auf Urquhart Castle und Loch Ness ist unbeschreiblich. Translation : The accommodation is just great with top facilities and very friendly landlords. The view of Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness is indescribable.
    Mr Haubold - October 2018
Strone Castle Cottage sits in the most stunning location, overlooking Loch Ness - the photos really don’t do it justice! The views are spectacular and we never got bored of them. The cottage itself is very comfortable and furnished to an exceptionally high standard. It was also immaculately clean. We can’t recommend this property highly enough!
    Mrs Chapman - September 2018
Had a wonderful stay in this beautiful cottage. The views are stunning over Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. The house is renovated to a very high standard, lovely furnishings and comfy beds. We used the firepit in the garden a few evenings whilst having a glass of wine - very relaxing. We were visited nearly every day by fallow deer which were absolutely beautiful. The cottage is in a perfect location for visiting the surrounding areas. We will definitely visit this amazing cottage again in the future.
    Mrs Monday - September 2018
We've had a dream vacation at Strone Castle Cottage. the cottage was perfect, as was the service, the location and the scenery were breathtaking. We fell in love immediately and have already booked for next summer. Some friends of ours also booked the cottage for the end of January 2019. from us a very clear recommendation
    Mrs Hohmann - August 2018
Strone Castle Cottage is an amazing place to stay and the perfect place to unwind. The cottage has been beautifully renovated and was immaculately clean. The views in the garden over Loch Ness and the castle are amazing and continuously change depending on where you sit, the time of day and the weather. We did not eat out often as wanted to enjoy our evenings sitting in the garden looking out over the Loch, but the two nights we did eat out we went to The Loch Ness Inn and were not disappointed. We had a great day out walking around Glen Affric and felt as though we were walking through a scene from Lord of the Rings! Other good walks were around Dog Falls and Plodda Falls. We had a great RIB ride from Fort Augustus, booked through Cruise Loch Ness and this was reasonably priced but great fun with very knowledgeable and fun guides. Would definitely recommend a stay at Strone Castle Cottage, we left feeling relaxed and wanting to return again. Would certainly recommend this cottage and the staff at Castles and Cottages.
    Mrs Bond - August 2018
Strone Caste Cottage is a lovely cottage in a great location. We enjoyed a lovely relaxing break there and whenever it was sunny and dry spent time sitting on the various seats round the garden. The cottage was great and had everything you could want, perhaps with just the exception of a wardrobe to hang clothes up in. However, I am not going to mark the cottage down for just this as it was wonderful.
    Mr Clackson - July 2018
From the moment you arrive the views are breath-taking. The cottage itself has been lovingly restored and tastefully furnished. Upstairs the double aspect bedrooms capture the views from sunrise to sunset. The whole cottage is kept beautifully clean by the caretakers, who had also baked us a delicious cake. We made full use of the garden with its many seating areas, especially the fire pit at the top of " the 39 steps". Every seat has magnificent views of Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle.
    Mr Babiel - July 2018
Everything about Strone Castle Cottage is amazing; the house itself and its location. The owners have done an amazing job restoring this property and making the most of the land surrounding it. They have thought of everything their visitors may need, from toiletries to maps. They cottage is sparkling clean, well maintained, and beautiful in every way. The view from the bedroom windows is spectacular and the outdoor seating area offers a splendid lookout of the loch and Urquhart Castle. The beaches of Narn, river walks of Inverness, and Urquhart Castle are not to be missed. The Benlva Hotel is tucked away out of sight but serves great food at good prices. Strone Castle Cottage expected my expectations and is a must stay for those wanting to unplug and relax.
    Miss Swift - July 2018
This is a beautifully refurbished holiday cottage, standing on a 'lookout' point, looking directly down to Urquhart Castle, and with magnificent views along both lengths of Loch Ness. There are 3 separate 'viewing' points outside the cottage. Cottage has all mod cons, including 2 very comfortable bedrooms and lovely modern shower room. Cruises on Loch Ness and visit to Urquhart Castle are highlights. The Loch Ness Inn in Drumnadrochit serves lovely meals, including gorgeous home made fish pie. This was our 3rd visit to the general area of Loch Ness in the last 14 years, but Strone Castle Cottage was undoubtedly the best self catering accommodation we stayed in. All in all, a superb holiday, and we were so lucky with the weather (hot sunshine all week!). Highly recommended for a 'get away from it all' break. Many thanks!
    Mr Main - June 2018
This was our first stay on our very first trip to Scotland. We are from Colorado U.S.A. and wanted a place to unwind after busy day trips visiting castles, trail walking etc. We could not have chosen a better place to start! Strone Cottage was just right for us (two couples who don't mind sharing a bathroom). After sight seeing all day, we had a HOME to relax, enjoy the outdoors, make our supper,....so peaceful. Waking up to the many different bird songs, sounds of waves on Loch Ness down below...being visited by a beautiful little fawn, pheasants, and (daily) two escapee lambs from the pasture across the road!...the wildflowers all around...the lovely (labeled) flowers planted in front. The house is exactly as pictured and extremely CLEAN. Nicely equipped kitchen, comfy beds, plenty of hot water, and best of all (for me) instructions to operate the appliances! The co-op in town was good for a few supplies- found a Tesco (about 20 min. away??) in Inverness for a bigger selection as we were packing lunches and having other meals at home. The Loch Ness Inn was great for our one meal out. Auntie and uncle also ate at Fiddlers and enjoyed it. These are the main dinner spots in town so reservations are a MUST. The caretaker and everyone else we crossed paths with in the area were just so friendly and kind... at the end of our week we were excited to continue on our trip but also a little sad to leave here. Thank you for ALL YOUR HARD WORK turning this place into a little piece of heaven and sharing it with the rest of us!!!
    Mr Weinzierl - May 2018
An excellent and exceptional place, peaceful and idyllic. Definitely be back.
    Mr Palmer - May 2018
Beautifully restored cottage with breathtaking views of Loch Ness. Every amenity is provided. Loved the privacy and the walking path from the road into Drum past postcard farms and countryside. We felt relaxed and restored after our stay here. Hard to venture forth to site see but we did lovely walks and castle tours before departing. The cottage is beautifully decorated and a historic gem. If ever back in the area, we will stay here.
    Mr Foster - May 2018
We loved out stay at Strone Castle Cottage. The views are breath taking and you feel very privileged to be living in such a great position. There are lots of great places to sit outside and enjoy the view of the loch. We had lots of little birds visiting, as well as a pair of pheasants and lots of beautiful grazing deer. The cottage itself is very cosy and comfortable. It's lovely to be able to light a log fire and dip in to the Lochness related library and movie collection. We enjoyed cooking in the well equipped kitchen and enjoyed sleeping well in the comfortable beds. I only wish we could have stayed longer.
    Miss Nunn - May 2018
We’d been looking forward to a trip to Loch Ness for many years and Strone Castle Cottage provided the most perfect setting possible for our visit. The cottage is beautiful and offers the perfect blend of tradition and modern luxury. The surroundings and views of Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle are simply breathtaking and unequalled. We particularly enjoyed an evening barbecue on the upper terrace whilst keeping an eye out for the monster. Whilst we didn’t have any Nessie sightings ourselves we did enjoy observing the local wildlife including roe deer and pheasant. Village amenities are ample and the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre in Drumnadrochit is just down the road. We were also blessed with warm sunny weather for the duration of our stay. Many thanks to the caretaker who was most welcoming and answered all our Nessie-related questions. We couldn’t recommend Strone Castle Cottage highly enough and are already planning our next trip!
    Mr Blades - April 2018
We had a fantastic week at this cottage. Location is great with fantastic views across Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle and loads of viewing points/seating areas in the garden. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. If you are after peace and quiet in a beautiful location then this cottage will tick all the boxes. Would definitely return if we come back to this area.
    Mrs Brooker - April 2018
We had a fabulous week in this beautiful cottage in early April. The location is outstanding and the views are world class. The cottage is really cosy and very well appointed, and the log burners are great and easy to use. Sit out around the fire pit in the evening for a wee dram and some Nessie watching! (Bring your binoculars!) The kitchen is easy to use with all mod cons we enjoyed browsing the Loch Ness themed library of books and DVDs. There is good little Co-Op in Drumnadrochit for all your supplies. The Ness Deli is a brilliant place for lunch (especially the haggis and cheese toasties) and the Loch Ness Inn is great for an evening meal after a long day of exploring. Can recommend the walking in Glen Affric and the drive through Glen Shiel to Eilean Donan castle. Closer to home, Castle Urquhart is right on your doorstep and just a short walk away. Would definitely recommend and hope to come again.
    Mr Campbell - April 2018
When we first found this place online, we thought it was a bit too good to be true. And when we arrived, we still couldn't believe our luck and spent the first day wondering when something was going to make the place 'less' attractive. It never happened. Absolutely gorgeous cottage with comfy beds and cosy living areas. Everything is as described and the pictures are spot on. Friendly and helpful caretakers and owner.
Mrs Street Kolasa - April 2018
We had a wonderful long weekend stay at Strone Castle Cottage at the end of March, we were very impressed with the attention to detail and cleanliness. The caretaker was very helpful and considerate and nothing appeared to be too much trouble. The cottage is situated in an area of outstanding beauty and has a many wonderful historical sites to visit. We arrived to be welcomed with a beautifully baked cake from the caretakers wife, that made us feel at home. We are looking forward to a return visit and have been recommending this cottage to family and friends. Nicki and Simon
    Miss Cavill - March 2018
The attention to detail in the restoration of this cottage is to be applauded. Not only does it pay tribute to its roots but is decorated, equipped and maintained to a high standard. All ‘mod cons’ are provided throughout and even came with a delicious cake from Karen and excellent support from Kevin & Keith. Although secluded enough for privacy, it’s a five minute drive from the Main Street of Drumnadrochit where we enjoyed good food and friendly service at both Ness Deli and Loch Ness Inn. The open aspects provide excellent views with plenty of opportunities to those with a love of photography, particularly in the evening beside the fire pit overlooking Urquhart Castle - enough said! The location is within short drive distance for many of the local walks including Rogie Falls, Falls of Divach (pronounced Jeevach) and for the longer trek of the stunning Glen Affric. We treated the cottage as if it were our own and looked after it.
    Mr Anderson - February 2018
My partner and I came all the way from Perth, Australia to spend a traditional Scotish Christmas with my sister who lives in the U.K, and we were not disappointed and chose well by staying at this cottage. We loved it so much we were all very sad when our time came to an end and found it hard to leave. On the day of check-in, we arrived at dusk and the first thing we fell in love with was the view of the castle, I've never experienced quite a view before. The castle, loch, and hills are all you see and the castle lit up at night really takes your breath away. I could not stop saying out loud the whole six nights we were there "What a view!" every time I walked past a window or went outside to watch the last of the sun at one of the many sitting areas. The owner has done an amazing job at placing seating areas that take advantage of all the views of the property. The cottage itself is terribly cute, inviting and perfect. We were so impressed with the attention to detail that has gone into this cottage with there being so many small thoughtful touches throughout the cottage that made for a very memorable stay. We loved all the little Loch Ness monster figurines, all the tartan decorations, and were so thankful to find Christmas decorations put up. As we spent Christmas there we used the kitchen a lot and found it to be adequately equipped. When we weren't feasting on Christmas food in the dining area we enjoyed local whisky in front of the fire while playing one of the many board games supplied in the loungeroom. The lounge room itself is a decent size, very cozy and the sofa and armchair very comfortable to relax in. Upstairs, the two rooms give both astounding views of the castle and the local area, with comfortable double beds and are surprisingly big. The bathroom is also very adequate and all you need in a cottage such as this. Kevin who looked out for us did a marvelous job and is a friendly bloke, we also loved the cake that was made for us by his wife, it was delicious :). Overall, it was very hard to leave the cottage. We absolutely fell in love with the place and our Christmas and time in the cottage will always be one of the most memorable experiences we've ever had. While we were there all we wished for was a white Christmas and were fortunate to have snow, not too much to the point we were stuck but enough to have a lovely white Christmas in the cottage which felt magical. I can not recommend a stay in this cottage enough, it is everything you need for a stay in the Scottish highlands, you would be a fool to miss out on such a unique experience. My partner and I loved it so much that we will be back in the future.
    Ms Henricksen - December 2017
A beautiful, cosy cottage, tastefully restored and decorated luxuriously. Very warm and cosy. Brilliant heating system. Really comfy beds. Lovely modern shower. Fantastic range cooker. Perfectly proportioned. Gorgeous furnishings. No expense spared. Lovely dining area. The location alone is breathtaking. The view up and down the Loch is beautiful, capturing sun rise and sunset. We enjoyed a lovely dinner at the Inn in Drumnadrochit. We explored the glens of Cannich and Affric. Stunning scenery, and both very different. Enjoyed a gentle stroll at Plodda Falls and Dog Falls. Would absolutely recommend this cottage. Hope to return! Thank you for the lovely cake on arrival!
    Mr Davis - December 2017
Beautifully restored cottage in fantastic location with full modern amenities. All facilities are totally inkeeping with the period nature of this charming picture postcard cottage. The views from the seating vantage points in the cottage grounds, overlooking Loch Ness, are spectacular.
    Mr Dennison - November 2017
A beautiful little cottage set in one of the most picturesque locations. Prime position overlooking the loch yet within a stone's throw of the village where there is a fabulous place to eat called The Loch Ness Inn, along with a well stocked co-op and various attractions. There's a trekking/riding center next door which is also very good. The cottage itself is warm, cosy and finished to a great standard. We didn't want to leave! We will definitely be booking Strone Castle Cottage for our next adventure of Scotland.
    Miss Scott - November 2017
Strone Castle Cottage is the most idyllic place we have ever been to. The location of it is simply perfect and the views over Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle are to die for. The cottage itself is absolute luxury and has everything you could possibly need. The decor is beautifully traditional and very warm and cosy. We also had a couple of visits from an adorable family of deer whilst we were there. We will definitely be returning in the very near future!
    Mrs Rolley - October 2017
Everything you need in this cottage great views ideal for walking the great glen way
    Mr Ridehalgh - October 2017
We loved our week at the cottage. The photos don’t really do it justice. Location is absolutely stunning, with our own private view of the castle, up and down the loch and lots of well-designed places in the garden to soak it up. The house itself is beautiful - very modern and well equipped and with lots of character too. Keith, the owner, helped us to quickly resolve a couple of small teething issues. It’s a great base to explore the area. We’d recommend the Loch Ness Inn in Drumnadnadrochit for good food, the swimming pool in Inverness for great flumes, the modern and well-presented Culloden visitor centre, and the fab castle on the doorstep. We also enjoyed the Loch Ness centre & exhibition in Drumnadrochit and the hour-Long cruise. And we lapped up Keith’s Loch Ness-themed dvd collection. Scooby Doo and the Loch Ness monster was the best!
    Mr Muirhead - October 2017
Not only is it in an amazingly secluded and stunning location, overlooking Loch Ness, but Strone Castle Cottage is also very well equipped and so very cosy. Clearly much thought and attention to detail has been put into the furnishings and fittings, throughout including a very well-appointed kitchen, with everything you require for dining in. The bedrooms are spacious affording fantastic views across the Loch and to the country side behind via very cleverly designed ‘panorama’ windows, front and back. The position of the cottage, sitting high above Urquhart Castle provides a truly unique view of this historic castle, both during the day and when floodlit at night. The log burners in the downstairs rooms are a great feature for an autumn evening in. The surrounding gardens give yet more opportunity to take in the breath-taking views of the Loch. We saw deer grazing at dusk in the garden as well as the odd visiting pheasants. Unfortunately, the weather was such that we could not make use of barbeque area in the garden, which again is well positioned and clearly thought about in its design. All in all, the fresh and clean lined renovation has been undertaken to a very high standard. The cottage is in an ideal location for exploring the many walks in the surrounding Highlands. We found that the local tourist information centre in Drumnadrochit particularly helpful in pointing us in the right direction – in fact following their advice we did 5 great Forestry Commission walks (each 5 to 8 km) through beautiful, enchanting forest scapes. Our time at the cottage was very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. If you are looking for a special location and a relaxing break with to ‘die for’ views we can think of nowhere more suitable. We hope to return! Liz and Chris Ferguson – October 2017

We really enjoyed Strone Castle Cottage thank you and it was perfect for my Canadian friends. I'm glad I was able to find a traditional property so full of character for them. We could see that you have put a massive effort into the cottage as there was so much attention to the furnishings and fittings, we particularly loved the tartan theme with the carpets and curtains. It was a very comfortable place to stay. The bedrooms are large and spacious with views in both directions. The large bathroom is warm with a good shower. The setting of the cottage is just stunning! I love the way you've planned seated areas at all of the viewpoints. I would book again just to hope for a nice sunny day to work my way from bench to bench with my book and a cup of coffee. Ending of course with some nibbles and a glass of wine up at the top! My husband was lucky enough to see a family of roe deer grazing one night and my friend got to see a wonderful night sky. Unfortunately this was only a 3 night stay but we had time for a good visit to Culloden and to Fort George. We also did a great 11 mile hike around Loch Affric enjoying the beautiful Highland scenery all to ourselves! The views of Loch Ness and the surrounding hills are stunning. Sitting up above the cottage and looking in every direction on a sunny day is just the best! Perfect peace and quiet! We'd love to come back.

We had a wonderful time at Strone Castle Cottage and it was hard having to say goodbye to such a special place on our last day. The setting of the cottage above the castle is truly unique and cannot be emphasised enough. Looking out the window every day was such a pleasure and the castle is lit up at night, so the views continue well after sunset. The cottage itself is beautifully refurbished to a very high standard. The owner obviously has very good taste and has invested a lot in making the place just right for people. It has everything you need and feels so cosy and comfortable. We will always remember our stay there and hope to return at some point.
    Mr Playford - September 2017
We stayed for a week in August. The place is magnificent. Possibly one of the best locations in Scotland. The house is stunning, yet new and of good quality. Everything is thought to the last detail and is very comfortable. We have been with our children and have visited Eilian Donan Castle, Skie, Inverness, Fort Agustus, Urquhart Castle, Loch Ness Visitors Center and do not forget to take a walk on the trails at Rogie Falls. We'll come back
Mr Garcia Sierra - August 2017
We arrived to the gift of a fabulous cake. The cottage is in an amazing position . The cottage is fully equipped, very comfortable and ideal for exploring the Highlands. We can highly recommed.
    Mr Isles - July 2017
A well appointed, thoughtfully renovated cottage in a stunning location. Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness provide the back drop to this period cottage which has been tastefully furnished and provides a warm and cosy holiday retreat. The log burners in the downstairs rooms are a welcome feature on chilly evenings and a well appointed kitchen and barbeque area outside make it easy to prepare meals. All the rooms are well furnished, comfortable and provide plenty of storage for personal items. The outside seating areas are situated to make the most of the stunning views and provide an opportunity to relax and enjoy your surroundings and fully appreciate this area. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and this cottage is a 'yes! - definitely go there' recommendation.
    Mr Mcallister - July 2017
We stayed in the cottage mid-June for a week. First of all, the location is spectacular with far reaching views up and down Loch Ness, and overlooking Urquhart Castle which was lit up at night. Amazing. The cottage is finished to an extremely high standard. The kitchen was high grade (range cooker, granite worktops) and had everything you could possibly need; the lounge comfortable and tasteful, two large bedrooms with comfy beds and wrap-around windows with views front and back, and a new bathroom with a fantastic shower! Outside, there was total privacy, no noise from any neighbours and just the sounds of nature and the loch, and the seating area up the steps complete with a fire pit to sit out watching the sunset was the icing on the cake. Very very highly recommended, this is the place to stay if you are staying in the highlands. We hope to be back. Jon
    Mr Porter - June 2017
This is one of, if not the best equipped holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. The owner (Keith) has went to every length possible to ensure that everything is really top class. The views over Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness are magnificent. Lovely to relax in the morning or at night after a day exploring. The local area offers a great range of restaurants and bars and there's plenty to do - from visiting Inverness, to local walks, the canals at Fort Augustus and much more. We had a fabulous time and will certainly be back in future. I couldn't recommend the place enough.
    Mr O'donnell - June 2017
The cottage has a superb location and beatfiful views from its garden but also from inside the house. It is decorated with very good taste, and is very well equipped. A great place to stay but also a starting point to visit multiple places such as Inverness, GlenCoe, Eilan Donan castle, ...
    Mr Mathys - May 2017
Absolutely stunning location with a lovingly restored house.
    Ms Beechey - May 2017
We had a perfect stay in this newly renovated cottage in a stunning, tranquil and private location.
    Mr Blackwell - April 2017
We had a wonderful quiet stay at Strone Castle Cottage. It's very secluded and peaceful despite looking over Urquhart Castle, and has been freshly renovated, so it's very comfortable as well. We would thoroughly recommend it.
