5* for the setting alone! A beautiful cottage in a picturesque village. We are a family of 5 and a dog. Plenty of room for us all. Fully kitted out kitchen, smart TV and of course the all important WIFi. Great little cafe just 2 doors along. Sadly the hotel was closed when we were there. Lots of walks and the falls and the place is steeped in history. Any negatives? Yes, I wish we had stayed longer. Great place perfectly close to Inverness and Dingwall too.
    Mr Hutton - August 2019
A very well equipped and nice cottage, Tomich is a vey small village with only a thea / coffee shop. The hotel/bar were closed and for sale. In the near surrounding a forest for (dog)walks and a few miles away the Glen Affric.

Translation : We have been for the second time in this cottage and it has charmed us again with its charm. Everything is there, what you need and it is very clean overall. That's how I imagine a cottage! The only small drawback is the small couch in the living room. We (2 adults, 1 teenager and 1 dog) can only recommend it!

Lovely traditional cottage in beautiful setting, with lots of walks and places to cycle.

Surronded by lovely nature in a small village Swallow cottage offered us everything what we needed for a perfect holiday.
    Mrs Janotova - June 2018
My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed a week at Swallow Cottage in May. It was easy to find and we were greeted by the housekeeper who was very friendly and helpful with local information. The cottage was immaculately cleaned and well equipped (just remember to bring your own towels) with everything you might need. There is a local shop that was more than adequate for all our food/drink needs (5 minute drive). We spent most nights eating at the Tomich Hotel which does excellent homely food with friendly service in a quaint setting (also a great selection of Whisky!). We took our dog to the cottage and there was an enclosed safe garden for him, with plenty of beautiful walks nearby. Our favourite was the Plodda Falls which you can walk to from the cottage (approx 3 miles there and back) and a walk in Glen Affrich (a very short drive away). We did several day trips which were easy to get to from the cottage including Inverness, Loch Ness, Glen Livet Distillery and Cawdor Castle. We went fly fishing on the nearby rivers, permits were from Kerrow House B&B approx 3 miles away. I would not hesitate to book here again, thank you for such a wonderful holiday!

Our stay at Swallow Cottage was super! The cottage was very pretty and welcoming and the lady who is the key holder was incredibly helpful which was much appreciated, particularly as she had to give up some time on Christmas Eve for us. The supply of coal for the fire was particularly welcome. There are some things that could be slightly improved:- 1) The name does not appear on the gate or the door, just the No. 14. If the number also appeared an the website and/or “Swallow Cottage” appeared on the gate that would make arriving in the dark much easier. 2) The windows are only single-glazed and some of the leaded pains are cracked so, due to the very low temperatures, it was difficult to keep the warmth in the cottage. In fact one morning the bedroom curtains were frozen to the window and ice had formed inside!!! If it’s not possible to put new windows in, might I suggest secondary glazing? 3) The water pressure to the showers (particularly the upstairs bathroom) I’d pretty low. I understand how difficult this is when operating from a storage tank so perhaps a booster pump for the downstairs shower would be an option. 4) I absolutely think towels should be provided without having to ask. The quality of the towels that we did get was not great. Otherwise, everything was really great and I would certainly be happy to rent this cottage again. The location is like my version of paradise as it is only a short drive to Glen Affric and wonderful walking and scenery.
Owners Response: "Thank you for taking the time to review Swallow Cottage, we are pleased that you enjoyed your time there. Following your suggestions our letting agents are including No.14 in the travel directions as we prefer to use that as our address. The cottage is a listed building and the windows are unique. We have about 600 small panes of glass and I could only find 4 with cracks I think they are victims of gravel and children. All our curtains have extra insulated linings, and along with our ten electric heaters and solid fuel stove, help to keep the cottage cosy. Sorry about the towels, but we do not advertise the cottage with them, we were pleased, however, that our caretaker was so helpful to you. We are glad that you would be happy to rent the cottage again, it is particularly lovely in the summer when all the roses are in full bloom."

Comfortable and well equipped throughout (though a utility sink would have been handy for those muddy outdoor clothes). We enjoyed a great bike ride into Glen Affric, round Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin and back through the woods to Tomich, walks on the higher hills, and a visit to Plodda Falls just up the road. Were about to enjoy a well-earned pub meal over the road when an unscheduled trip to hospital intervened (no major damage)! The Spar at Cannich is not far away and has a decent range of groceries.
    Mrs Carstairs - October 2017
We enjoyed our stay at Swallow Cottage immensely. The house is small but well equipped and modernized, and the bedrooms were very comfortable. We loved having the pub just across the road - very convenient! And it was close to hiking trails and not far from Inverness. Mrs. Harrison was very helpful and available for questions if we needed her. It was great to have the washing machine and tumble dryer, and the dishwasher. We would definitely go back!
    Dr Heathcote - April 2017
Nice and characterful cottage, especially from the outside. Some of the interior decor and setup was a little dated, and the windows were a bit draughty, so could be cold in winter. A lot of heating was needed to keep it to a sensible temperature in April. Beds were also not very comfortable. But kitchen had all you need for self-catering. Lounge had a TV with Freesat and a DVD player. Wifi was painfully slow though - no streaming movies here! The garden is well fenced, so if you have a dog, they can wander and do their business without being able to get out. Area is lovely - more info on walks direct from the village would have been good, but there are great walks after just driving a few miles, including the waterfall just a bit further up the valley accessed from a car park off a dirt road. The local hotel is very good, both for eating and for drinks, including good range of whiskies and Scottish ales. The coffee shop and post office in the village is also useful. So, overall, a positive experience, with just a few minor downsides. I would mainly not advise this one if you are looking for all mod cons luxury, but if you are prepared for things to be a little more rustic, this could be perfect.
    Mr Maclaren - April 2017
Used the cottage as a base while touring Scotland. Made very welcome by the caretaker when we arrived and the heating was on ready for us. Everything you need is there for you and there are heaters in the bedrooms if needed. There is a table and chairs in the front garden but as it rained most of the time, we didn't get to use them. Tomich is a lovely secluded village nearest shop is about 10 min drive. The food in the pub opposite is highly recommended and take a walk or drive up to the Waterfall it is well worth it. Just couldn't fault this cottage.
    Mrs Jones - September 2016
Swallow Cottage was all we had imagined and more. Set in the stunning village of Tomich, we couldn't believe how well supplied and spacious, the cottage was. So cosy. We loved Tomich Hotel, fantastic food, and dogs are welcome. The surrounding areas available to visit are beautiful, especially Plodda Falls and Glen Affric. Would book again in a heartbeat.
    Mrs Agnew - August 2016
Lovely cottage and in such a perfect region of Scotland. Mr. and Mrs. Stirling - the care takers - could not be more helpful or charming. Don't bother with the pool though unless you don't mind it being small and shallow.
    Mr Bate - August 2014
We had a great holiday at the Swallow Cottage!
    Mrs Desa - February 2014
A lovely cottage, well equipped immaculately presented, perfect for a quiet break, nice little hotel just over the road, would thoroughly recommend it,very nice helpful caretaker living locally.
    Mr Carleton - September 2012
Tomich is a pretty little village on a single track road. The area is great for walkers and outdoor activities. Swallow Cottage is well positioned for a number of good walks and trail runs. We took our dog with us and she was in her element. Swallow cottage was clean, well equipped and we settled in quickly. The facilities were good with limited mobile reception, and the best thing about that was that the local hotel had beer and Wifi. The hotel owner was very friendly and the food was excellent. If you are looking for a real break, Swallow Cottage is perfect for you.
