Set in a serene position by the water, Taigh Ailein is a cosy cottage that has recently had a complete refurbishment in 2018. Located in the peaceful township of Manish in the south of the island, this cottage is ideal for those looking to take a quiet break in the Outer Hebrides.

Inside, the cottage is modern yet cosy, and each of the rooms has breathtaking views of the water at the front of the house. You are sure to spend hours taking in the scenery, whether that’s from inside or outside the cottage! The kitchen/dining room is the perfect social space with its open plan layout, which is ideal for the cook in the party so they will always feel included whilst they are cooking up a storm for the group. The sitting room has the added bonus of a multi-fuel stove for those chillier evenings, but please note that fuel is not supplied and should be purchased beforehand. The bedrooms are bright and fresh, each with beautifully patterned linen to add a pop of colour to each room.

The cottage is located a short drive away from the numerous sandy beaches on the west side of the island, and you can reach the north of Lewis in two hours’ drive away, so you have plenty of time to explore every corner of this beautiful island. There are endless places to go on foot and by bike, and you will truly be enchanted by the scenery that Harris has to offer.

In short, this is the perfect island retreat for those looking for a quiet and relaxing break – you will be truly mesmerised by the stunning location alone.

    Taigh Ailein reviews
A lovely house, well equiped, and in a beautiful location. You couldn't wish for more. We have been visiting Scotland 2 or 3 times a year for over 35 years and this ranks amongst one of the very best properties we have stayed in.
    Mr Codd - May 2019
The cottage is located right on the waterfront with great walks out to the headlands. Inside it is very well decorated with very modern rooms and fittings. The kitchen is large with every need catered for. Perhaps a bit more guidance on local amenities and recycling / rubbish arrangements would be useful but this was only a minor niggle.
    Mrs Falconer - May 2019
A well presented and quietly located cottage on the east of Harris near the best of the scenery of the Western Isles. Ian and Lizzie are great hosts, the house was spotlessly clean.
    Mr Trotter - April 2019
Cant think where to start Lovely cottage, immaculate - very well equipped, everything you would need Hosts were 1st class Loved the tranquillity and the fact we were there during lambing season Fantastic that we were cut off from the outside world as there was no WIFI - please keep it that way !! Beaches to die for I WILL be back.
    Mrs Hynd - April 2019
This is a great holiday cottage and makes a fantastic base for your holiday, regardless of the weather. The owners gave us a wonderful welcome and couldn't do enough for us. Lovely views from the cottage and a great spot for walks, kayaking, and bird-watching.
