This delightful little holiday house is perfect for a couple wishing to get away from it all, and enjoy this wonderful part of Perthshire. Originally the farm bothy, the cottage has been recently refurbished providing very comfortable accommodation which has been cleverly designed to maximise the living space and succeeds in providing a bright and fresh interior with lovely wood effect flooring. The living room has a kitchen, seating and dining area, with stairs leading up to mezzanine level and the double bed. There is also a modern shower room.

Situated high above the pretty village of Dunning, guests can enjoy the spectacular views over Strathearn from the outdoor seating area or explore the surrounded farmland and woodlands, with many walks possible from the door of the cottage. Or venture further afield by car and take advantage of the cottage's central location for seeing all the sites on offer in this area of Scotland.

The historic conservation village of Dunning is only a mile and half from the cottage, and guests can enjoy a romantic meal or a drink or two in the local pubs. Auchterarder is some 6.5 miles away. Known as the 'Lang Toon' because the Main Street stretches a mile and a half long, and is lined on both sides with a variety of shops, inns, coffee houses and a library.

Ground floor: Living room with seating and dining area, kitchen area; shower room with WC and WHB.

Mezzanine Level: Double bed.

Lovely bothy offers all you need to spend some time away from the hassle of life. Fantastic views to the bay and when the weather is good all the way to Skye. Space for up to four people, who should be aware, that there are no doors separating the bed rooms significantly. Cosy wood burner in the living room that will keep you warm after a hike in the rainy weather. Large kitchen with seating area for self cooked meals, very good equiped. Highlight: definitely the hot tub, that faces the lovely view of the bay. Large enclosed property which is good for letting your four legged friends run (watch out for sheep that sometimes get lost on the grounds). Came here for the fourth time - and won't be my last visit.
    Miss Thiede - September 2018
From the moment we arrived to the moment we (reluctantly) left we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Bothy. The fresh, home-produced eggs and the milk provided to get us started were most gratefully received. The water is very good and makes a great brew. The views from the accommodation are far-reaching and very mesmerising. Bob and Sue are the very gracious and accommodating owners whose suggested dog-walks were spot-on for our dog. The Bothy provides a great base for exploration and it is easy to get to Edinburgh for events there. The facilities at The Bothy were exactly right for our needs for a week and the nearby Nisa shop has a surprisingly good range of the usual products plus freshly baked items and local produce. It has a good wine selection. We recommend the fish and chip/Chinese takeaway in Auchterader (its called 168). This is an ideal location for a couple who want to enjoy a peaceful and quiet escape.
    Mr Tait - August 2018
Sorry for the delay in my review. I came here back end of August for a week loved the cottage and the area. Fresh eggs on arrival the owners have done a great job in renovating this cottage and were always on hand to make the stay more pleasant not that it was needed I'll be definanlty coming back again. Fantastic home from home. Beautiful homely accommodation with everything you need. Freshly layed eggs and a pint of milk in arrival. Lovely hosts. Would highly recommend if you want to base yourself somewhere peaceful to tour Perthshire. We will be back - oh and the dog loved it too!
Mr And Mrs Tweddle - July 2017
    Everything was perfect.
    Ms Goeke - May 2017
My wife and I stayed here for a short, Easter break to get away and yet be in easy reach of wherever might take out fancy to visit. It is in the absolute best location we could have wished for. The property itself was wonderfully transformed into a two-person retreat, with mezzanine floor bedroom. Perfectly fitted-out and well-maintained, it was lovely and cosy on a chilly late afternoon when we arrived. We really appreciated the lovely, fresh eggs and milk upon arrival! Couldn't recommend highly enough, it was perfect.
    Mr Blythe - April 2017
The Bothy was lovely and the cleanest cottage we have stayed at and even given the garden situation( to follow) would certainly stay again. As staff to an old dog (who needs out sometimes during the night), a property with an enclosed garden is a key requirement, having studied the photos it was difficult to see just where the advertised garden was, so we called Cottages and Castles to confirm that there really was an enclosed garden at the property, who happily confirmed there was. However whilst the Bothy is advertised as having an enclosed garden, be aware that the garden is not this properties, but the owners garden next door, who were very welcoming and happy for us to use the garden, but we always felt like we were intruding and it is just not so handy to have to dress and go out in the wind and rain at night across the courtyard with a crossed legged dog...
    Mr Ritchie - April 2017
Had a long drive down from Aberdeenshire, (which owners were aware of). Wasn't as per, a particularly pleasant day, cold etc... Bothy not overly warm. Heating could've been increased upon our arrival. No welcome pack, only 4 eggs in fridge? First time we've ever visited a self catering property with no little tea/coffee/biscuit upon arrival, (they're missing a trick here.) We were quite tired, had to drive all the way back down to village for simple supplies. Towel rail heater in shower room inadequate, took an age to heat up. After increasing temp on heaters, pleasant enough upstairs, but ground level quite airy, especially with the wooden floors. Gap under main door didn't help. (Couple of rugs wouldn't go amiss, especially in winter.) Kirk style pub in village was great, spent nearly whole day in there... Great food/atmosphere, open fire....
    Miss Forsyth - February 2017
This was our third stay at the Bothy. As always wonderfull. Nice cottage, wonderfull situaties, Nice owners. We Will come again
    Mr Kramer - October 2016
We were in the area house hunting and The Bothy was a perfect base from which to explore. Our two dogs loved it too! Fantastic views and beautiful countryside and a beautifully restored Bothy. We ate at the Kirkstyle Inn in the village which had fabulous food. Would definitely book again and would highly recommend it.
    Ms Hensens - September 2016
Great location, very peaceful but with easy access to Perth, the Highlands or Fife. The owners very helpful and the fresh eggs they left us were lovely! We were initally worried that the Bothy would be a bit small and cramped but it is so well set out and tastefully decorated that it seems much larger than it actually is. Everything you could need is supplied - couldn't fault it.
    Mr Hawkins - September 2016
'The Bothy' was the best renovated property that we have encountered. The location was quite rural and quiet, but close enough to shops, etc. in Dunning village and only 9 miles south-west of Perth, the gateway to the highlands! The owner was kind enough to leave us some fresh eggs, which made a marvelous omelette (thank you :-). The Bothy lacked nothing we could think of. The kitchen was well-equipped; the mezzanine bedroom was comfortable and bright; the shower room was an ideal size for the property and the large (Sky) TV, DVD player and Wi-fi were most welcome inclusions. Above all, the space created in this traditional 'shepherds' bothy conversion was ideal for two visitors. I'm sure we will return here one day.
    Mr Foster - June 2016
The Bothy was delightful, perfect for a couple and more spacious than it looked in the photos. It was well equipped and the owners were friendly and helpful.
    Mrs Stone - May 2016
The Bothy is a most imaginative conversion of a shepherd's cottage to a bijou self catering facility for a maximum of two people. The conversion has ben done most tastefully making The Bothy really pleasant to stay at. The area is rich with history and things to visit. We specially enjoyed St Serf's Church, with its wonderful Pictish Cross looked after by Historic Scotland. The farm shop and cafe at Tibbermore made a great location for breakfast on our final day [Gloagburn]
    Mr Preece - April 2016
BeautifuL cottage in a peaceful area . Very clean and modern excellent to get away and relax . I loved how the owners left fresh eggs for us they were amazing I loved staying here and would defiantly be back would recommend to anyone xx
