    The Byre reviews
Lovely accomodation, good sized rooms, super king beds, good bathroom and ensuite and all very well presented. The under floor heating ensured it was warm and cosy. The kitchen and open plan living roòm were ideal for our social evenings. It is in a quiet but convenient location as it was very near to Dunkeld and Pitlochry. We were at the Amber festival so were quite focused on the Dunkeld venues, the Royal, Taybank etc. Great brunch in the Bakehouse. Great fish and chips at the chippie. Lovely walks along the river. What more can I say go any time of year...we will be back.
    Mr Anderson - November 2018
This barn conversion has been renovated to a very high standard. There is absolutely everything you need there. It is however very close to the A9 and an active railway line. The goods trains could be heard at night. We got used to this very quickly and it was no issue for us after the first night. There was a freshky baked sponge cake waiting for us and it felt very homely. The large window covering the entire front, allowed a lot of light, making it very pleasant indeed.
    Mr Shaw - October 2018
Really lovely accommodation just outside Dunkeld. The owners were very welcoming and left a lovely cake for us at the start of the visit. The house is in a really central location with Pitlochry, Aberfeldy, Kenmore etc. within easy driving distance. Would definitely recommend the Byre to others for holiday let.
    Miss Smith - July 2018
Ideally placed for access to the Highlands, Trossachs, Perthshire and Stirling. Cottage is extremely comfortable and warm if a little soul-less. Needs some thinking about shelving in bathrooms and showers, and coat pegs in hall way. Vital kitchen gear is missing which makes food preparation complicated. Left a list of the missing items when we left. Lack of internet is obviously a big issue these days particularly at Christmas when you are trying to find out what's open.
Owners Response: "We are sorry we did not see you when you left, but as you are aware I did e mail to thank you for your comments sheet. As I stated the Byre is closed for two months for some redecoration, and some of your comments will be acted upon. As I made you aware, the lack of internet was due to failings by BT which were outwith our control, but are subject to a complaint to the ombudsman. BT did finally provide a broadband service on 5/1/18. We are glad you found the Byre warm and extremely comfortable and we thank you for your constructive comments."
    Prof Jones - December 2017
The Byre is a great property in a wonderful location It is a property that is completed to a good standard and ideally kitted out for a small group or family It is immediately in a quiet and peaceful location but also set within stunning scenery and a stone throw from some classic Scottish attractions and towns Dunkeld which is very nearby has some great cafes and restaurants, and the walk along the river is excellent Hope to come back one day
    Mr Farquhar - November 2017
Excellent facilities. The property was well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a stress free holiday. The fresh cakes waiting for us on our arrival were a very pleasant surprise. It is without doubt the best rented holiday accommodation that we have ever stayed in either in the UK or elsewhere. It was the first at The Byre: hopefully it will not be too long before we can return.
    Mr Pilkington - July 2015
We had a long weekend at this property. The owners  were v welcoming and had left milk, coffee, tea and a lovely cake. There are 3 substantial bedrooms, all beautifully decorated. Place was spotless, everything looked brand new. Both bathrooms are large with excellent showers, again modern and tastefully decorated. The kitchen had all the things that you wish were there, but normally aren't eg kitchen foil / kitchen roll / dishwasher tablets etc The property is only a short drive to Dunkeld where there are some good restaurants and cafes. There are tons of walks in the area and other small villages to visit. Its a lovely area. Over the years we have been to lots of self catering properties, this is undoubtedly the best we have found and we will be returning. Highly recommended.
    Mrs Skivington - March 2015
The Byre was fantastic. Absolutely spotless and beautifully done out. The owner and her dogs Milly and Skye were very welcoming and the wonderful home baked chocolate cake went down a treat with the two children.
    Miss Macalay - August 2014
We had a wonderful week - even the weather was excellent! The Byre is very well finished with high quality furniture and accessories. The kitchen is well equipped with Denby crockery and everything you need to prepare meals during your stay (there was even a delicious cake and tea/coffee provisions!). Bathrooms were clean and included whirlpool bath and heated towel rails and the zip/link beds were comfortable and ideal for our party of three couples. The cottages are well positioned close to the A9 and there are lots of things to see and do in the area. Excellent walks on the doorstep and Glamis Castle is well worth a visit. Dunkeld is 5 mins in the car and there is a Co-op which is open late, a deli, butcher and plenty of places to eat out. It is only 20 mins to a big Asda in Perth. Only a very small problem was the poor mobile reception in the cottage (you could get a signal from the patio though!) but that can't be helped, and could even be an advantage! We certainly hope to return soon!
    Mrs Wilcox - August 2013
We had a great week. The facilities were of a very high standard and it was well kept. A great advantage was having a third bedroom on the ground floor as my father was 88 and he had a small bathroom available The kitchen had an adequate supply of equipment. The location was ideal with plenty to see and explore both internal if wet or outside Finally, we liked the professional appraoach taken byCottages and Castles
    Mr Renton - May 2013
We had a fantastic holiday the accomodation was superb we could not fault it. Miles of quiet peaceful walks on the doorstep and yet only a a short car journey from loads of tourist attractions. Owners were so friendly, we hope to be back soon!
    Mr Crilly - August 2011
The Byre is a beautifully converted barn and when we stayed there, it was so pristine I felt guilty for having brought along our six year old son, who can be very hard on things. The cottage we staid in, has three beautiful bedrooms, two bathrooms and a downstairs toilet, very handy when coming back from an excursion. The location is rural, but near enough to shops and restaurants. The family dogs living there enjoyed fetching sticks and stones my kids would throw for them. We visited a lot of the sights going as far north as Aberdeen and found the location very practical for us. All in all a very successful holiday.
    Mrs Kucher-hogg - August 2010
