Description

Is this Scotland’s most fantastic beach house for a wonderful west coast holiday? It certainly ranks up there, with one of the best locations we know and an interior that has been thoughtfully created to enjoy this lovely spot. The Estate Office is a listed building and has undergone a complete and painstaking renovation. So popular is this village that we had bookings made for this property even before it was ready!

The house sits right on the shore line so open the back door and you are on the beach. Wonderful views across Applecross Bay, stunning views of Skye, Raasay and the Cuillins are all part of your stay in this holiday house. The sound of the sea even in calm weather surrounds you, and the sea birds are a constant – you may even spot a sea eagle if you are really lucky.

Inside, the house is fresh and bright and very tastefully and simply presented. Beautiful crisp white linens and fluffy towels are what you need after a day outside and with 6 bedrooms and four bathrooms, the house is well suited to larger parties. One bedroom with en suite is on the ground floor so useful if anyone has mobility issues. The fact the house is listed means that the windows are all double glazed and the house stays snug in all weathers. The downside of that listing is the smallish sitting room – cosy and warm but compact as internal walls could not be moved. Throughout the house, it is the views that will make you gasp – simply beautiful.

Outside there is ample parking and an enclosed garden at the front which is ideal for kids and dogs. A moment’s walk takes you to the famous Applecross Inn - renowned for its food and friendliness. Other great eateries like the café and the Walled Garden are also within walking distance so you have plenty of choice if you want a break from catering.

Applecross is a gem of a spot – be sure to travel via the spectacular Beallach na Ba – not for the faint hearted but the views are magnificent.

    The Estate Office reviews
    The Estate Office is very well appointed, comfortable and ideally located to explore the Applecross peninsular. The property has been refurbished to a very high standard with items of local craft on display. The views of the islands are quite spectacular. There are several eating places within easy reach to suit all tastes.

    The house was very well equipped and attractively appointed, seemingly furnished throughout by John Lewis. It was spacious enough to accommodate four couples, each of the king-sized rooms with private or en-suite bathroom facilities although - a difficult ask - the rooms were not equally proportioned. It had been cleaned to a high standard for our arrival and the beds were comfortable. The estate manager, Mike Summers was very helpful, particularly when one of our number left her shoes behind on leaving. The downstairs facilities were very good for a person with walking difficulties, the extra height toilet being a particularly welcome bonus. The induction hob took some getting used to but meals for eight were prepared on several nights. The extra fridge-freezer space in the utility room was also a boon. The only thing that struggled to cope with sheer volume was the dishwasher. It took two to three loads per meal. A second or larger dishwasher would be an asset. It was in some ways a shame that our four parked cars cut off the view of the bay at ground floor level. There was some loss of privacy from the general public taking the track behind the house but this was compensated for by our closeness to the Inn and other facilities. Wonderful Scenery and excellent local eateries contributed to making the holiday an all round success. A beautiful property which impressed.

    We had a fantastic stay at the Estate Office celebrating our son's wedding with lots of family. The house was just right , well stocked kitchen , spacious , spotless views to die for and the wildlife popping into our back yard was just amazing. The staff at the Applcross Inn were so helpful could not do enough for us. We loved the Applecross Inn food and staff great, also the walled gardens were our son's wedding reception was it was just bliss. Highly recommend the Estate Office .

    This is a beautiful property, renovated and maintained to a very high standard. The location is excellent for those looking for peace and quiet. No phone coverage and the television reception can be dodgy, even on broadband. As for radio, forget it. On the plus side, you wake to deer grazing just outside your window and a view over the loch to the hills beyond. The pub across the road serves excellent food and beer, and has an admirable collection of whiskies. There's a handy van outside for delicious home made ice cream and fish and chips. I must also mention the Walled Garden restaurant just a short(ish) walk away. The food is very good and the cakes are delightful. The only drawback of this property is its very isolation. An ideal spot for walkers, but not so good for sightseeing. It's at least an hour's drive to anywhere, and some of that is over the hair-raising Cattle Pass. This isn't for the faint hearted or inexperienced driver. The alternative route around the coast is slightly less scary, but adds another hour on to the journey. Although we managed trips to Inverewe, Skye, Plockton and various other places, it took careful planning to make sure we weren't travelling the Cattle Pass at night. I'll also mention the helpfulness of Mike the Manager. Especially in the incident now referred to as 2 old ladies locked out of the lavatory...

    The Estate Office has recently been renovated and had only just opened as a luxury holiday home. Therefore the house was spotless, modern and spacious. Best of all it is located right on the bay just opposite the fine gastropub Applecross Inn and new cafe/restaurant The Junction. It has stunning uninterrupted views of Applecross Bay which literally borders the back garden .. waking up to it everyday was a joy. It will become a sort after holiday spot. Although a larger living room would be helpful for larger parties .. the large kitchen, large dining/entertaining area and super large laundry/boot/stuff room means there is plenty of space. We were a smaller party and the home does have the flexibility to receive less than 10+. A great home with stunning views.

    This house is in the most beautiful location. The house it's self is tastefully furnished and decorated . Kitchen well stocked. Deer wander around the house !! Good walks from the door. Great pub a stones throw away and a van that sells great ice cream also very nearby. Midges dealt with using Smidge . We'll definitely be back . Lovely welcome from Michael

    Great cottage with a perfect location. Abundant wildlife, beach fantastic (when tide out) and easy to reach pub with local seafood and good atmosphere. TV and Wi-Fi not great but plenty to do so a blessing in disguise.
