It is hard to imagine a better location for The Log Cabin, sitting in spacious grounds above Loch Tay, but with its own access to the shore and glorious views across the loch to Ben Lawers. This is a place to relax and leave life's stress behind whilst you enjoy the deer, red squirrels, otters and ospreys that are seen around the grounds. You can enjoy a wander down to the loch and fish for trout off the shore.

This is a traditional self-catering log cabin - compact, but very well equipped. It is comfortable whilst homing a welcoming wood-burning stove, attractive bedrooms and lovely gardens. It is a delightful spot in one of Perthshire's most scenic locations.

Sunday - Sunday.

All on one level:

Sitting room, dining area, kitchen, double bedroom, twin bedroom, bathroom with WC, WHB, bath and shower; cloakroom with WC and WHB; utility room.

    The Log Cabin reviews
A great place for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. The perfect place.
    Mr Black - August 2018
We first came to this paradise 12 years ago when the kids were little. It’s was they’re best ever holiday we came back this time for a revisit now they are older and boy it was as if time had stood still. Apart from some nice little upgrades everything was as it was and WE LOVE IT. The weather was great and the Dog loved it to. We will return. Thanks to John and Liz (think that’s right, sorry if not guys) for sharing they’re piece of paradise. (And if you ever want to sell then don’t forget us. As if ) And a big thanks to Emma for keeping everything exactly the same and always immaculate. (Hope I got your name right as well )
Owners Response: "Thank you so much for those lovely comments. We love to hear that we are getting it right. Hope to welcome you back soon."
    Mr Grove - August 2018
The log cabin was comfy, homely and had everything you could possibly need except for towels which we forgot to bring (Our fault not theirs). It was situated overlooking Loch Tay to the back and Munroes to the front. It was idyllic. A few miles down the road was Killin which had several shops a well stocked COOP, lovely pub and cafes', the spectacular Falls of Dochart and pleasant walks . The Log cabin was ideally situated for further exploration if you wanted or to just chill, relax and watch the abundant wildlife that visited the garden. I would definitely come here again it was wonderful. My sister and I with our 4 dogs had a marvelous time and returned home very reluctantly but fully rested and chilled. Even the dogs didn't want to leave. Truly wonderful
    Miss Shirley - September 2017
Great situation near to Loch Tay and surrounded by trees. Huge windows mean you can enjoy the views inside or out. Many walks to enjoy in the area and places of interest such as waterfalls and stone circles. Killin (15 minute drive away) is a pretty town with useful amenities and of great historical interest.
    Mrs Frosyth - October 2016
Fantastic location and really relaxing , never saw anyone it was so peaceful and the wildlife outside every window was a treat ! Great views of the loch and mountains , the gardens at the cabin was beautifully maintained and the cabin was very clean and welcoming ! Can't wait to book again . Would highly recommend !!!
    Miss Boyle - September 2016
Lovely cabin set amidst beautiful scenery, and surrounded by abundant wildlife.
    Mrs Barber - May 2016
We go to the Log Cabin each year and it is an amazing place. Somewhere to totally switch off if you want or do lots of walking or other days out in the many little villages around. The only downside for me was the double mattress, please change it to a softer one as is like sleeping on concrete. The cabin would be 5 star to me if it were not for this.
Owners Response: "Thank you to all our clients who have written reviews for us this year, and responded personally to our requests for feedback through direct e mail. We have listened to all your comments, and the overwhelming response is not to change too much. Our clients love the cabin just the way it is and appreciate the amazing setting and sense of solitude and peace the cabin provides. Having listened to your feedback, we are installing a shower over the bath in time for the 2016 season, and will also replace the mattresses on all the beds. Please do continue to send us your comments, we love to hear them."
    Mr Knight - October 2015
Everyone's priorities for a holiday are different but if it's peace and quiet, amazing views and a perfectly equipped and beautiful cabin then look no further. I just love this place. ..even when it's raining!
    Mr Anderson - August 2015
location way fantastic, private with lovely views over Loch Tay. Cabin was dated but added to the character of the place, lots of things provided for rainy days and felt like home. Garden Dog friendly. Only negatives was shower would of been better than bath and double bed was hard.
    Mrs Anslow - September 2014
we had a fantastic time, the owners have thought of everything even down to a sewing kit, we cannot rate it highly enough so much so we have booked it again for next year two weeks this time. Its so dog friendly our two dogs had ball down to the loch every day for a swim in between fishing that is.
    Mr Neri - August 2014
We honestly cannot find a fault with this lovely cabin. Set in it's own private grounds, it is completely fenced and totally dog safe. The loch is just 2 mins walk down the garden and has its own "private" bay where you can sit and relax without seeing anyone. The cabin had everything anyone could need and was by far the best equipped we have stayed in. There was no shortage of walks in the area, and plenty of info, leaflets in the cabin and also in the information centres in Killin or Kenmore. also we recommend a book called Perthshire 40 town & country Walks which we bought from Amazon before our holiday and found it really useful, and gave loads of information not just of Loch Tay, but walks within reasonable travelling distance. We don't usually return to the same property twice, but we are definitely going to go back to The Log Cabin. We have also recommended it to our friends who are definitely going to book it on our recommendation. Could go on forever more about our holiday - I hope this feedback has been useful.
    Miss Scott - July 2014
We had a wonderful stay at the Log Cabin and have booked another two weeks in May 2015, it was that nice!
    Mrs Hunt - May 2014
Absolutely marvellous cabin. Location is perfect. Facilities are basic but there is everything you could wish for in the comfortable warm cabin. The owners have thought of everything. Views are stunning.
    Mr Fester - April 2014
This is the second time that I have visited the 'Log Cabin' and as before enjoyed a restful 2 weeks. Just one point I would like to make is that a shower would be so much appreciated, few property's nowadays don't have a shower. Apart from that not much more to say, only thank you!
    Lord Stewart - October 2013
I cannot rate this cabin highly enough. We had certain expectations when booking but were totally unprepared for the breathtaking location. On arrival the cabin was clean and ready for us with freshly made beds - it felt like home the minute you opened the door. Everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable stay was provided. Someone has obviously put a lot of thought into it. The locals were extremely helpful and friendly and we enjoyed fishing in the beautiful loch which is easily accessed from the cabin. Kayak and cycle hire is available at very good rates within a few miles. There is so much to see and do in the surrounding areas that you are spoilt for choice. The nearby town of Killin has plenty of pubs, restaurants, shops and places of interest with free parking. Our 10 year old son has told us that he would prefer to come back to the cabin next year rather that go to Disney Land - enough said!
    Mrs Wallsgrave - August 2013
All we could want for a great holiday. (Did what it said on the box)
    Mr Oliver - May 2013
What a wonderful week we had! The Log Cabin was lovely - comfortable, well equipped and a real home from home. Our 2 daughters enjoyed the surrounding space - garden, adjoining field, loch and woods. Our dog who isn't' t particularly dog friendly enjoyed the freedom of being off lead and exploring. The only comment I would make that is slightly negative is that the garden is not secure! Thankfully there was no livestock in the adjoining field but if there had been we would have had to keep her on lead all the time! On the first morning we let her out we hadn't noticed the red deer in the field and she was off chasing them. After that we just took her out on lead until they left which wasn't too long as they are so shy. We would love to go back next year as long as either the garden is secured or they can guarantee no livestock in the field! Fantastic week had be whole family. Thank you.
    Mrs Kemp - March 2013
lovely setting .had everything you might need to make a stress free holiday.shame the cabin needed a clean to remove cobwebs ,also clean out log burner before we could use .
    Mr Boardman - October 2012
If you're looking for a peaceful Scottish holiday, this could be for you! The setting is perfect. Your neighbours are the friendly Highland cattle that graze the field next to the property and the various wildlife that also call this home. During our stay, we saw pheasant, red squirrel, woodpeckers, chaffinch, great tit and voles. It's lovely to sit at the breakfast table and watch the birds (and squirrel!) at the feeder, whilst the loch is in view in the background. The cabin itself has everything you need, and more. It really is a home from home. The woodburner makes it really cosy, although there are electric heaters! There's a mini library, board games, DVD's should the weather be inclement. The short stroll down to the lochside brings you to your own little beach. We liked to BBQ there while the sun set behind the mountains. Apart from the wonderful walking in the area, we hired a double canoe from the boat hire company at Kenmore, and went canyoning with Spash at Aberfeldy (hard work but exhilarating). Blair Castle is also well worth a trip. There's so much to do, a week's probably not long enough. Wonderful week!
    Mrs Jervis - August 2012
Very cosy lodge with all necessary comfort. Astonishing views, beautiful garden. Personally decorated, not an standard holiday lodge.
    Mr Bosman - July 2012
Enjoyed a relaxing holiday in a beautiful part of the world. The scenery is amazing with some fantastic walks. The log cabin is well equiped.
    Mrs Robson - July 2012
our first time at the cabin, 4 adults & 2 dogs, cabin has everything you need, make sure you are self sufficient in your food department nipping for a loaf or milk is quite a drive, location for the cabin is amazing, dogs are safe & secure within the grounds only wish could do with a shower facility over the bath but apart from that our stay was great & we look forward to visiting again, highly recommended. ps some great walks & drives all explained in visitors book.
    Mr Phillips - June 2012
Lodge was comfortable & clean....Compact & well equipped. Views from windows all round were fabulous.Plenty wildlife to be seen. Didn't make it down to the loch tho' as there were cows in the land that circles the lodge. Plenty of walking in surrounding area. Recommend Shutters in Killin for daytime food and drinks. Killin was also good to get parked and had a well stocked Co-op for food and essentials.
    Mrs Robertson - April 2012
The facilities were better than shown on the website, was a home from home place to stay. The surrounding area is stunning, with the most relaxing view of the lock. For a relaxing, peaceful and tranquil holiday, i would strongly recommend.
    Mrs Branston - April 2012
The Log Cabin has everything you could wish for. The setting is magical. We had a great time watching the birds fly past and then catching sight of a young deer near to the cabin was wonderful. We saw the deer 4 times during our stay. We would definitely go back to the cabin.
    Mrs Johal - August 2011
Having stayed in self catering cottages in Scotland for over 20 years now I am pleased to say the Cabin was one of the very best we have stayed in. It was clean, homely, cosy, well maintained and equipped. The view through the large windows is excellent and the wild life you can see includes Red Squirrels, deer and Ospreys and so much more. It is perfect for a couple. You have access directly to the shore where you can fish if you wish.
    Mr Moffatt - May 2011
We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the log cabin and could not fault any part of it. Its location was ideal for our needs right next to the Loch and proximity to Ben Lawers. The log cabin was better than expected, a real origional log cabin built in the 70's with log burner and views from the living room where great. Wildlife around the cabin never failed to impress, from deers, red squirrels, Goldfinches, Great Spotted Woodpecker etc. The holiday at the cabin was a success.
    Mr Todd - May 2011
Great for couples and families, great for walking, fishing, and every Scottish activity you can wish for. We are repeat visitors, who on this occasion travelled from New Zealand to visit the Log Cabin.
    Mr Robertson - May 2011
Looking to get close to nature, look no further, the Log Cabin provides guests with the opportunity to share their stay with deer, woodpeckers, sparrow hawks and the elusive trout - only a few footsteps from your door. Great for walking, fishing and exploring rural Perthshire. Functional and homely accomodation we have found always to be clean and tidy. Although not luxurious the Cabin sits well within it's rural context. We have stayed 6 times over the last five years and plan to re-vist this Summer. Suffice to say we would love to own such a property and visit on a regular basis - don't leave it too late, visit once and you'll fall in love with the setting, the countryside and all that Perthsire has to offer.
    Mrs Graham - October 2010
We were delighted with The Log Cabin. It was in a beautiful remote location, the place was well kitted out and the lawns were even mown during our visit! We havn't awarded 5 stars because the double bed was so uncomfortable with springs trying to make their way out. If that was replaced then we would certainly go back, especially as it is so dog-friendly.
Owners Response: "Thank you for your feedback, we can confirm that the double bed now has a new mattress."
    Mrs Rhodes - May 2010
