Description

The Old Laundry is a delightful little self catering holiday cottage perfect for getting away from it all and enjoying the beautiful Perthshire countryside. Recently refurbished the cottage is bright and fresh, with comfortable and stylish furnishings and décor. The sitting room with its wood burning stove is perfect for relaxing and has two single chair beds allowing the cottage to accommodate up to four guests. The bedroom is spacious and welcoming, and together with a small but well equipped kitchen with dining table, provides the perfect holiday accommodation for couples and smaller families. For larger parties there is the wonderful Whitehouse next door which can accommodate a further 10 people.

Surrounded by Perthshire countryside the views are fantastic from this spot and guests will often be able to see lots of visiting wildlife including deer, red squirrels and many species of bird. There is a delightful pond opposite the holiday cottage the ideal spot to sit in peace and quiet, and completely relax, or guest may wish to take some of the wonderful walks able to be enjoyed from the door.

This area of Perthshire is perfect for lovers of the great outdoors with mountain biking, stalking, fishing and shooting all available locally. Scotland’s largest ski area is only 20 minutes drive away offering an exciting range of slopes for both beginners and the experienced skier and snowboarder. Hill walkers will love this cottage with twenty one Munros close at hand, including Cairnwell, Beinn Lutharn Mhor and Glas Maol, whilst some may enjoy the lower level walks (e.g. The Cateran Trail - the route used by cattle rustlers in the 15th century). This is also a fabulous base for anyone wanting to tour Scotland with Glamis Castle, Scone Palace, Pitlochry and all the major cities are within two hours drive, and Royal Deeside and Balmoral Castle are less than an hour’s drive, over the once notorious but beautiful Devils Elbow road.

Ideal if you love the country life(which we do) as it truly is country life We we're greeted will 40+ shot pheasants hanging on the fence opposite the front door, which could upset some( certainly not us)The cottage is lovely and apart from 2 egg cups we wanted for nothing. Bret(the farmer)was very helpful on the occasions we needed help. Will certainly return again loved the place and the area.
    Mr Hutton - October 2018
A cozy and clean cottage, very good equipment. Peaceful environment and a great landscape.
    Mrs Schmitz - July 2018
The Old Laundry is a cottage with everything you need and you may expect: it´s clean, cosy and well equipped. As "our" summer was very special (warm and dry) we were out every day for long hours, but really happy coming "home" late/later in the evening. The location is quite remote which leaves the opportunity to watch all kind of animals from the house or on walks you could start from there. Our neighbors Brett and Laura, housekeeper Sophie and everybody else gave us a very warm welcome, we are looking forward seeing everybody again next year.
    Mr Walter - June 2018
The cottage was exactly as shown in the pictures. The location was very relaxing with wildlife right outside the door! The cottage was very clean and modern. Good restaurants were close by and the visit to Peel Farm was enjoyable. I would highly recommend The Old Laundry to future guests.
    Ms Lemire - May 2018
The Old Laundry exceeded our expectations with it's high standard of decor, appliances and cleanliness. It's setting in the countryside meant that we not only enjoyed the tranquility, views and fresh air, but also the wildlife. Ducks swam on the pond visible from the windows, plus we saw red squirrels, deer, pheasants and plenty of other birds (plus heard the first cuckoo of the year and an owl!). There are plenty of things to see and do locally and this bungalow is a perfect place from which to explore Glen Shee and the southern and eastern Cairngorms.
    Mr Streluk - April 2018
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this cottage, it was very clean and comfortable. We were lucky to have fantastic weather and as nobody was in the house we could enjoy the garden with the birds and the red squirrels. The views were amazing especially of the belted galloway in the fields. We enjoyed going out a few days exploring the area but we especially enjoyed walking around the local area from the front door. There are plenty of tracks and lanes and lochs to keep you busy. There is plenty good information in the guest book in the house of the local area, we climbed Ben y Vrackie, it was just the best. It was a gorgeous walk, quite tough, but if you can manage it the views at the top are breathtaking.
    Mr Hands - September 2016
Lovely little cottage, in a peaceful location. It had a very comfortable bed! Well appointed, lots of nice little touches which made the stay better. Good location, and it was easy to get to both the highlands and the central belt TV reception was exceptionally poor, not a big issue as we were not there to watch telly, but it would have been nice to have had the news on in the morning! That was the only minor gripe
    Mr Dunn - July 2016
We stayed in the cottage for five nights and were really sad when we had to leave it. The cottage was easy to find, clean and tidy. When we contacted Sophie for asking a few questions, she was really friendly. The only little (very very little actually!) shortcoming was that we had to walk outside to get access to mobile internet (O2) or WiFi.
    Mr Kluge - July 2016
    - the cottage was well prepared for our arrival: clean, heater was on .... - the rooms, the equipment is perfect - many interesting visiting points are good accessible (castles, gardens, destilleries, Pictstones, opportunities for nice walks) - very good value for money
    Mr Hochmann - July 2015
Set in a lovely farm complex, with walks straight from the door, this was a lovely cosy place for two people.
    Mr Mcgorrigan - June 2015
We loved our stay at The Old Laundry. The instructions to find it were not the easiest to follow, but communication was brilliant and we got there. The pictures on the web page do not do this stunning little cottage justice. It was very clean, modern and spacious. With everything you might need supplied. We will definitely be going back.
    Mrs Bellingham - February 2015
The cottage was very comfortable, clean and fresh throughout, when we highlighted a problem with the fridge after our first night we received a very helpful and extremely prompt resolution with a replacement within hours despite it being the week of new year! Very impressed. Would definately come back again, beautiful surrounding and very relaxing.
    Miss Mann - December 2014
We had a Wonderful time at the Old Laundry, the cottage is well looked after, very comfy, with all you need to relax. Without mentioning waking up in the morning with all those highlands landscape views. We absolutely loved it and definitely highly recommend it. Very good value for money too. And an excellent customer service from cottages and castles. Mr: Derli Almeida. Sāo Paulo Brazil.
    Mr Almeida - July 2014
Lovely cottage in a woderful location, nice and tranquill.Ideal for bird lovers.Bramer and other towns mentioned in literature in the cottage, all worth a visit.Would highly recommend.
    Mrs Malyon - May 2014
Relatively handy for Glenshee ski centre about 20 minutes drive away. We booked with friends who were staying next door at The White House - a great combination for a larger group. Modern, nicely decorated cottage. Cottage accomodates 2 very comfortably. 4 is a little bit of a squeeze as 2 beds are in the living room area. This was fine for our party of 4 as we ate & socialised with our friends staying at The White House next door.
    Mrs Daly - February 2014
This cottage is excellent throughout. Very clean and smart looking. Ideal for romantic days away. Set in a lovely area and only a short drive to the nearest shop. Be aware of the drive up to the property if, like us, you have a low sports car.
    Mr Dyke - May 2013
The cottage had very obviously been newly renovated and tastefully (we thought) re-furnished and decorated. It was very comfortable, warm, with quite spacious lounge and bedroom. The mixed fuel stove lights easily and creates a cosy atmosphere. The only downside is that the kitchen, though well equipped, is very small with really only just enough space for two people to dine in. The cottage is in a quiet location and is a great holiday base, convenient for walking in the hills and for trips into the neighboring Lowlands. The Glenshee ski slopes are only a short drive away too in winter. There are quite a lot of good places to eat within 20 minutes drive too. We thought it was an excellent holiday cottage for an active couple and we'd would be happy to stay there again and recommend it to other people.
    Mr Haywood - September 2012
