    The Old Manse reviews
Great house, great location and caring hosts We very much enjoyed our stay at the Old Manse
    Mr Chemaly - August 2018
Very attractive property; spacious and very well decorated. Overall it was very well equipped but there were some gaps such as very few wine glasses. There was a barbecue which is not mentioned in the details but will be attractive to some guests.
    Mr Jackson - August 2018
It was a lovely stay. We were with 7 persons in the Old Manse and had enough space. 4 bedrooms with 4 bathrooms an amazing huge kitchen and quiet place on Earth to relax.
    Mr Sommer - July 2018
We rented this cottage 3 nights for 8 persons (family and friends) and it was just perfect to visit the isle of Skye. All the equipment (for cooking, bathrooms, lounge, ...) was in impeccable state. The view from the cottage is fantastic and absolutely quiet ! A good starting point for visiting and going for walks. You just have to drive carefully as the road leading to it is narrow, but in good condition, with regular places to pass each other. Only regret : we wished we could have stayed there longer !
    Mr André - July 2018
Our family of 7 really enjoyed our stay at The Old Manse. Our every need was catered for and there was plenty of space for everyone. The views were stunning and the fire kept us warm and toasty in the evenings. The house has lots of interesting art on the walls and ornaments and personal touches which we loved. The kids thought the range of cuddlies on the beds were lovely too! Thank you.
Mr And Mrs Conway - October 2017
Very well equipped, clean, spacious family house with a lovely garden. The detached house is in a beautiful position in Glendale and has everything that a family or a group of friends would need. The island of Skye offers so much to do and see and being near the top of the island it was ideal to visit Dunvegan Castle, the Claigan coral beach and Stein. Would thoroughly recommend The Old Manse.
    Ms Aitken - August 2017
Wonderful lodging for whole family of 8 with sufficient beds and toilets. Big kitchen and dinning area for us to gather. Furnishings are also very well maintained. There is a good housekeeping deposit which they collect. Hopefully it'll be refunded soon :) Anyway, its money well spent for the comfort and quality of stay.
    Mrs Ping - June 2017
a group of 2 families stayed at the the cottage, we had an amazing time, it was clean and homely and the kids thoroughly enjoyed having there own space. The instructions given to get to the cottage were very clear and made it very easy to find, the only thing is the heating was a little hard to control at first, but once we got it working it was fine. If your a large group looking for a nice place to stay then the old manse would be perfect, fantastic views, lots of space and good facilities.
    Mr German - October 2016
Stayed here with 4 adults and 4 children, the property is fantastic, great facilities and everything you could hope for in a home away from home, the location is good, it's on the further away west side of Skye but great if you want to do things around Niest or Dunvegan within a short trip, there's good places to eat close by in the village or a short drive away but the house has everything you could need to prepare great food at home
    Mr Mcleod - July 2016
I would recommend this house to anyone. It is a beautiful large house with plenty of room. We were climbing the Cullin hills during our stay and despite being a 40 minute drive from the start of most walks it was the ideal base. The house has a room at the front door where boots can be left. We could sit outside for a drink in the evenings and the kitchen has everything you need to cater large meals. We loved how homely this place felt - great for our days off. Very close to Neist point where we saw orcas and sunbathed on the rocks and there are many nice places near by. We walked to Skye Weavers and loved seeing the tweed being made and enjoyed some cake at the red roof cafe. This house is in a lovely location and provided everything we needed. Thank you.
    Miss Morison - June 2016
Marvelles house with plenty of room end beautiful art. We, two couples , enyoyed our stay. It was too short, only 5 days. Kitchen and dining room fantastic. Central heating alsoo.Tv is great end easy to control. Bedrooms are great end the bed are very good. A point of improvement would be a good sound system. Also the shower drain in one of the bedrooms was working slowly.
Mr Van Dijk - June 2016
The Old Manse is a great place to holiday with family & friends, four comfortable bedrooms with four bathrooms means no queues and loads of privacy. The whole house is furnished to a very high standard, very comfortable and very cosy. Plenty of parking and wonderful views. Fabulous food at the nearby Three Chimneys restaurant in Colbost and The Old Schoolhouse in Dunvegan. Great days out at Dunvegan Castle, Uig (Pottery worth a visit) & The Fairy Glen, great boat trip from Elgol into the Cuillins and loads of beautiful walks. Local shop good for essentials, bread, milk etc but limited, we used click & collect with Tesco who have pick up points in Uig or Portree excellent for the "Big Shop" .
    Mrs Greatbatch - June 2015
It was easy to organize the keys to the house with the friendly caretaker and the instructions to get to the house were clear. The house had everything we needed. The house phone didn't seem to be working but we didn't need it as we were able to use our mobile phones when out and about (not from the house itself though). Lots of towels, lots of space, great dinning and cooking area supplied with everything we needed. Two televisions and DVD players so space for younger kids, teenagers AND adults. Entrance space for all to leave dirty boots, wet coats. A back entrance to store a bike. Space for the kids to play outside but in a safe manner (removed from the road). The heaters on a bit high when we arrived but at least we weren't cold!! And we could do a hike directly from the house up to the closest hill, and go for a run or a bike ride too Neist Point. At a comfortable distance of Dunvegan, the Stein Inn (where we went for dinner one night), the Skye tannery, Portree and the Talisker Distellery.
    Mrs Ripayre - May 2014
lovely home, plenty space for three generations of the family. very well equipped and plenty bathrooms and shower rooms. wonderful scenery great walks, and lots of geocaching sites. would highly recommend
    Ms Mcpherson - July 2013
The Old Manse in Glendale, is in a beautiful and quite remote part of Skye. It's well equipped and there's a very nice cafe and a great post office shop in the village. There a several lovely walks in the area and it's close to The Red Roof Cafe and The Loch Bay Inn. We were a mixed group of adults and teenagers as well as younger children and the house worked really well for us. (A radio and some kitchen scales were the only things we could have done with, but not in any way an inconvenience, we guessed and made something approximating to shortbread.)
    Mrs Lawrence - July 2013
Our family of 6 adults from the US were very comfortable in this home - very cozy and had all the amenities we needed. There is a long single road that leads to this cottage ( surrounded by sheep and lambs) and the scenery in this area was unlike anything we have in the US. Very beautiful countryside with lots to see. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
    Mrs Pennell - June 2013
Spacious and well equipped - ideal for 2 families
    Dr Timoney - April 2013
We stayed here in december 2012 for a week with a family of 4. The house was warm and welcoming upon arrival. Downstairs is a nice open kitchen with oven, microwave, dishwasher. The washing machine and dryer are also place in this area. The open kitchen is connected with the dining area. Furthermore there are 2 nice sitting areas downstairs. One with TV & fireplace and 2 big sates, the other one a smaller seating area with 1 couch, some books provided and possibility to watch a DVD. The bathroom with the bathtub is also located on the ground floor. Upstairs there are 3 bigger bedrooms and 1 smaller one. 2 provided with double bed, the other 2 have 2 single beds. There are also 3 bathrooms with shower on this floor. We did not have any phone signal in the house but this may have been due to the really stormy weather conditions. There is a perfect wifi though which made it possible to go online. The area is beautiful. Neist point at sunset is a winner. No comments on the famous 3 chimneys restaurant since it was closed the whole period of our stay but we enjoyed the kitchen in the house a lot. For shopping it is best to stop in portree. The house has no real garden though and therefore I would not recommend if you have smaller kids who love to play outside but are not into walking yet.
Mrs Van Den Broeck - December 2012
The Old Manse on Skye is the perfect home from home and is finished to a very high standard. The house is ideal for a family or couples. The locations is a great base for exploring the whole island. I would recommend a visit to Portree and The Marmalade restaurant, a lovely family restaurant with excellent food and great service. We like this house so much we have stayed their on 4 occasions and already thinking ahead to our next trip!
    Mrs Kerr - September 2012
Fantastic break in a lovely house. Beautiful setting and fantastic weather all week - couldn't ask for more. One of the best equipped holiday lets we have ever stayed in.
    Dr Wallace - August 2012
The Old Manse in Glendale is a beautiful, well appointed home. I say "home" because that's how we felt about it. There was plenty of room for our 3 families to mingle or to find a quiet space. The surrounding area offers plenty of places to visit within a reasonable radius, from castle to a toy museum (unfortunately closing this year) to beaches with crystal clear water. Visit the Red Roof cafe for food that's deceptively filling and a wee bit different.
    Mrs Doctor - April 2012
We had a fantastic stay at the Old Manse. As soon as we arrived we felt right at home. The property is simply stunning and the location is amazing. We can't recommend this property enough!
    Anonymous - July 2011
Property is in a great setting and maintained to a fabulous standard. It is a great place for a family holiday. The house is fitted out to a high standard. I loved the kitchen and dining area and the kids really enjoyed having their own room to chill out and watch their DVDs. My daughter loves all the soft toys in the bedrooms. We like this property so much that have we just booked it for the third time.
    Mrs Kerr - April 2011
very good quality property in lovely quite remote area of Skye. Well furnished and equipped and very comfortable
    Mr Burniston - September 2010
