The Old Manse at Farleyer is a wonderful house in a brilliant location. This Georgian building has been stylishly and thoughtfully renovated to create an excellent holiday house. With large, bright rooms and luxurious furniture and fittings, this is a vacation house to enjoy living in. With a great new kitchen/dining room for every day meals, you also have the option of a more formal dining space in the second living room. There are open fires or log burners in the public rooms and both have glorious views over the beautiful Perthshire hills.

The bedrooms have a high proportion of bathrooms making this house ideal for big parties of people. The bedrooms themselves are exceptionally comfortable and welcoming - all with TVs and two with full Sky package.

This is a glorious area - high up the Tay valley and near the charming and busy town of Aberfeldy. The house has two beats on the Tay - Lower and Upper Farleyer - where catches have doubled recently. The beats are very close to the house, have 8 rods and may be available by arrangement. Additionally, the house can be offered catered or partly catered and with a housekeeper if preferred. The house Manager can arrange a wealth of experiences for you from a stunning falconry display to distillery tours, stalking or shooting.

In the same ownership but separate and behind the house, is Farleyer Steading, with two further en-suite bedrooms and a very large open space with billiard table, kitchen, dining and sitting room. If not let as a separate unit, it makes an ideal spot for overflow accommodation or for celebrations and ceilidhs!

A fantastic house whether you are after first class salmon fishing on the Tay or a self catering holiday par excellence surrounded by stunning views and sumptuous surroundings.

For larger parties (up to 14) rent the House and the Steading

The Old Manse at Farleyer reviews
The house was impressively equipped with a wide range of necessary items for a comfortable stay. Beautiful setting. Housekeeping support was excellent. Only comments would be about the restrictions on dogs and the Sky availability didn't seem to be on all TVs (ie not the key one in the kitchen). We booked this house as a dog friendly property, but on arrival found there were signs on the exit doors from the kitchen to elsewhere in the house saying no dogs beyond that point. We earlier rejected other properties in this search in Scotland as they restricted dogs to either kennels outside (not sure how that is per friendly!?) or to one point in the house. I would recommend that, if this restriction remains, then Castles & Cottages should make this clear on the website info.
Owners Response: "Response from Cottages & Castles : Thank you for you your review and without feedback changes cannot be made so we have now updated our website with the dog restrictions after a discussion with the Manager at The Old Manse at Farleyer. We are glad you enjoyed your holiday overall ."

Excellent in every respect. Peaceful, luxurious, rural. Very helpful local staff.
    Mr Doyle - October 2018
The Old Manse at Farleyer is a beautiful, large but cosy, home-from-home. The setting is quiet and tranquil, which was perfect for our family get-together. The facilities were excellent, the kitchen especially, offering everything that we needed for our holiday. We fully intend to return!
    Mrs Jursins - September 2018
From the moment we were greeted by Yvonne and opened the door, we felt at home. The Old Manse is a fully equipped, lovely rental in a beautiful setting. The photos and descriptions on the website are exactly what you can expect, perhaps even better! We enjoyed the lovely Town of Aberfeldy nearby, visiting all the shops. The people were so friendly and helpful. The Watermill Bookstore was fantastic! We dined at the Black Watch Pub (great local gathering spot), the Three Lemons (delicious carbonara) but the finest was The Thyme at Errichel--you don't expect to find a Michelin One Star Restaurant in such a small town. We did have a bit of a problem finding the Old Manse, so we would suggest that directions be more definitive, i.e., how many miles or half miles. But once we found it, we enjoyed a fabulous week there.
    Ms Dreyer - September 2018
9 of us had a wonderful week's stay at this beautiful and well equipped house. We were fortunate to have good weather, but even if the weather had been poor we would have had a very comfortable time. The house is very well equipped and we thought it was very good value for money.
    Mr Singleton - July 2018
We had a throughly enjoyable week at The Old Manse. The house was very well equipped and very comfortable . Yvonne (housekeeper) was extremely helpful and attentive over our initial internet access and we would certainly recommend Douglas as ghillie . We are definitely considering a return next year.
    Mrs Worth - May 2018
This property is as stunning as the location. We stayed over Christmas and I truly believed that I was staying in someone’s home, it was that well equipped. The site manager (the lovely Yvonne) told us how she has furnished the location to feel like home and she has done an amazing job with everything I needed to cook Christmas dinner. The aga type oven cooked the best Christmas turkey I’ve ever done but there is also a more conventional oven to cover any overflow. The open fire in the living room was stunning and we never worried about running out of firewood. Aberfeldy is also a beautiful location with its own little cinema and fabulous shops and restaurants many (if not all - we didn’t get to try them all) ensure their products are produced locally. The Three Lemons gave us the best burger I’ve ever had and the little deli had the best mincemeat and mulled wine (Home made) ever. We also made it to the Weem Inn where we enjoyed chatting to Bernie and Michelle by the fire on Christmas Eve. They made us feel so welcome. We very much enjoyed ourselves and really can’t think of any negatives.
    Mrs Cockayne - December 2017
We wanted to find a comfortable holiday location - a home away from home. The Old Manse ticked all the boxes. And a first - everything I looked for in the kitchen in terms of equipment too! We all enjoyed a great holiday with sunny Scottish weather too, an unexpected bonus. Although, for sure, had it poured every day we could have found things to do, or simply relaxed in the house. We look forward to returning in the future.
    Mrs Homer - July 2017
We had the most wonderful family time, celebrating my husband's birthday.
    Mrs Wood - October 2016
We had a brilliant stay at The Old Manse. This large property has plenty room but is cosy at heart. Sometimes too cosy - we had to turn the heating down. The kitchen is well stocked with glasses, crockery, utensils etc. Set in peaceful surroundings with easy access to the most Perthshire has to offer. Thank you for our stay.
    Mrs Fraser - March 2016
Our expectations were more than met. We cannot wait to book our next visit to this wonderful location and people. Yvonne and Douglas looked after us very well
    Mr O\\\'dea - December 2015
--The house was lovely and in very good condition and ideal for the four couples that were staying. Couple of observations;- --The trees at the bottom of the garden have grown to such an extent that the view across the valley is now fully impeded. --The sky tv was not working properly in the two main living rooms and only intermittently in one of the bedrooms. --The local property manager Yvonne was very friendly and helpful and tried to get the Sky tv working but it needed further specialist input.
    Mrs Jones - July 2015
The Old Manse is a beautiful building and lovely grounds. It has plenty of room for a group of 10 and lots of space so you're not in each other's pockets. Plenty of ensuite bathrooms and showers and lots of socialising spaces. Close to Aberfeldy and Kenmore and would highly recommend the courtyard at Kenmore, the horse riding there and Highland Safaris (although expensive). The Manse is equipped with everything you need-loads of crockery, pots and pans etc and 2 dishwashers! We had a fabulous week here. You definitely need a car in this area as the Old Manse is situated outside any of the villages.
