Built in the 17th Century, Tomatin House sits in a delightful secluded location bounded by spacious well maintained lawns and mixed woodland. Lying close to the River Findhorn, guests can explore the riverbank with long walks in search of osprey or otters, or may even spot red squirrels and deer in the woodland. The lawn is an idyllic backdrop for a relaxing game of croquet or tennis.

Gradually enlarged and improved, the large holiday house now provides elegant and spacious holiday accommodation, ensuring a most comfortable stay. The well-proportioned rooms have been tastefully decorated and furnished to create beautiful accommodation to be enjoyed with family or a group of friends. With oil central heating in addition to open fires in a number of the public rooms, guests are sure to enjoy a warm and cosy stay in a grand setting all year round.

The area surrounding the self-catering holiday accommodation is abundant with activities, particularly those enjoyed outdoors. The property is only a short drive away from the vibrant city of Inverness and offers all the facilities and amenities one would expect to find in the Capital of the Highlands. Opportunities for cycling are particularly extensive with private drives especially suitable for children and minor roads connecting into the National Cycle Network. Fishing on the River Findhorn may be organised or guests may choose to visit a whisky distillery producing the local ‘tipple’ or some of the outstanding castles in the area.

    Tomatin House reviews
    We had an excellent week in this property. It was very well equipped and warm, plenty of fuel for fires etc. Very high standard of crockery and glassware which lifted the atmosphere at mealtimes. We liked all the family photos and the sense of place which made it a much more interesting house. Well equipped with bathrooms and excellent hot water supply, with baths taking no time to fill. Grounds are lovely with roe deer red squirrels almost on the doorstep, and quiet peaceful spot despite being so close to the A9. We have stayed in at least 16 Highland lodges and house over the last 30 odd years and this would definitely make it into our top few. Finally the owner could not have done more to make us welcome and it was particularly useful that he was able to take delivery of our large drinks delivery, indeed he suggested that we do this.

    The snow arrived just ahead of us - as did our Tesco shop, but no problem because Edward was on hand to deal with things and to welcome us. This is a great house for a group, elegant but homely with everything you need and an especially well equipped kitchen (and larder, and butler's pantry). Oodles of hot water and logs for the fire, so we were warm and comfortable as soon as we came in off the hills. Great walking right from the house: we climbed Carn A' Choire Mhoire and Tom Na Slaite.

    Very enjoyable stay at Tomatin House,a peaceful and tranquil setting,within a reasonable distance from Aviemore and The Cairngorms for our walking party. If you are a fisherman,then the River Findhorn is immediately behind the house. Facilities at the house,in particular the kitchen,and mains hot water supply are very good,and there is so much space in the living rooms.
