This picturesque cottage has been carefully renovated to create a single-level retreat that’s bursting with character, sleeping eight guests and three dogs across four bedrooms. Set in a grand estate within the Angus Glens, the property was once used as a steading: a traditional farm and its outbuildings. The secluded location makes this an enchanting bolthole to celebrate special occasions with loved ones and is an ideal vantage point for enthusiastic walkers and nature lovers to explore the spectacular countryside.

The property is delightfully cosy throughout, freshly painted with bright neutral tones and lovingly styled with traditional furniture and homely details. The addition of a roaring open fire and an Aga enhances the timeless charm, with a few contemporary touches such as ambient lighting and a very well-equipped kitchen.

The comfortable lounge is a treat for the senses, where you can curl up in comfort in front of the fire, selecting a book from the mini-library on the shelves. Even the most reluctant of cooks will fall in love with the fantastic kitchen, which is a masterpiece of design with sleek worktops, unique lighting, and a dark wood floor. The AGA-style oven, mismatched chairs and antique dresser strike an interesting contrast, making this a quirky spot for perching with your morning coffee and the papers. Dinner is a more elaborate affair thanks to the sophisticated dining room, a snug location for uncorking a bottle of good wine and settling down to a hearty meal and flowing conversation.

Weary guests will find the bedrooms irresistible after a busy day, as each one is dressed in sumptuously soft linen complete with delicate floral details and pretty artwork. The master king-size has an en-suite, and there is a family-size bathroom for the remaining three bedrooms. Depending on what suits your party, one of the double bedrooms can be converted into a twin on request.

Outside, your private garden has marvellous views across the estate, with sweeping lawns, ancient trees and glimpses of the surrounding glens and Munros, which are mountains over 3,000ft. There’s also a patio with garden furniture, perfect for enjoying a glass of something delicious as you admire the sunset. The estate is teeming with wildlife from red squirrels to various species of birds, which can be spotted as you navigate the winding trails.

Famous for its close proximity to popular golf courses, historic attractions and stunning natural landscapes, the town itself has plenty to delight guests of all ages. Birthplace of J.M Barrie, Kirriemuir has several attractions inspired by the creator of Peter Pan. The late author himself opened the mysterious Camera Obscura in 1930, which boasts superb views of the countryside. Remember to pack your camera and walking boots as the scenic trails are a real treat, particularly the walk around Glen Isla and the Reekie Linn Waterfall 6 miles away. The Loch of Lintrathen 4 miles away, is home to an abundance of birdlife and a beautiful place to while away an afternoon.

We had a lovely stay at Wellbank Cottage. Great garden and outdoor space. There is a pub 5 minute drive away. Nice walks on the doorstep and short drive away too. Cottage itself was clean and we had everything we needed. Would return. Thanks!

There's a mug in the kitchen cabinet that says: "Home is a feeling". And that's exactly what Wellbank Cottage does. You're at home instantly. The surroundings are so so lovely. The house is clean, warm, cozy and tidy. And another great plus: the beds and mattresses are excellent! We loved cooking at the AGA-stove although it does take some getting Read moreused to. The caretaker is super helpful. We're a family with 4 kids (10-16) and everyone had a lovely time. Hide
