Woodside is an enchanting and beautifully presented family cottage, set in the idyllic surroundings of Glen Sannox with beautiful views of the Firth of Clyde. Full of character and traditional charm and with well-proportioned rooms, this spacious holiday house affords the best in self-catering accommodation. The warm and welcoming sitting room with its open log fire, comfortable sofas and beautiful views makes a wonderful retreat for all seasons.

Within the dramatic Glen Sannox it is possible to find an Iron Age fort and the remains of a village, abandoned during the Highland Clearances in 1829. For golf enthusiasts, the nearby Corrie Golf course is well worth a visit.

Woodside cottage is in the perfect location for a peaceful stay with an abundance of wildlife and nature. During our week we saw red squirrels at the window, deer in the fields next door and seals very close to the shore next to the cottage. The location next to the beach is idyllic in all weathers. The cottage itself is comfortable with plenty of sofas and an open fire for the evenings. The bedrooms are a good size and everything was very clean. The downside is that there is no space for food in the kitchen due to far too many bits and pieces of kitchenware that are unlikely to be used in the cupboards. In addition, for their own safety, I would suggest that some of the ornaments should be removed particularly if they have value to the family who own the cottage. We had a problem with a radiator during our stay and Tony dealt with this very efficiently. We also had a call from both the owners, one ensuring we had all the information we needed and the other apologising for the problems we had experienced. Both calls were unnecessary but very much appreciated. The welcome wine, cheese and chocolates was a lovely touch.
    Mrs Cowan - March 2019
Woodside is a lovely place to get away from it all. A warm and cosy family home that offers wonderful views of the mountains and opportunities to explore what Arran has to offer....
    Mr Hext - October 2018
This was our second time staying at Woodside. Again, had a wonderful time. Weather was a bit rubbish so made full use of the vast DVDs and games available. Everything we needed was there. Very comfortable stay. The large garden is great for the dog and having the beach at the end of the garden is fabulous. We had a few beach barbecues and utilised the deck chairs and picnic baskets available. It’s a fabulous place to chill out and ideal base to explore Arran.
    Mrs Mckay - October 2018
So good we have booked it again. Delightful garden with sandy beach at the bottom.
    Mr Hackney - September 2018
Great cottage with a fantastic garden down to the sea. Very well equipped, quiet and comfortable. Lunch at nearby Mara cafe in Corrie was a highlight.
Dr De Caestecker - June 2018
We had a lovely stay in Woodside Cottage. The facilities were excellent and great care and attention to detail went into making our stay memorable. The cottage is in the perfect location to enjoy walks in Glen Sannox or along the beach- which all made for a really relaxing break.
    Mrs Warwick - March 2018
Woodside has always felt like a home from home. Our first holiday was around ten years ago, and we have returned on many occasions since. Great with a crowd of friends, or just a couple.
    Mrs Williams - May 2017
Woodside cottage had everything you could possibly want, from books to DVD's,games and music, plus outdoor games. The setting of Woodside was stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
    Mr Shield - May 2017
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this quirky but pristine cottage. The kitchen had everything we required with a table that we could all eat at for meals. It was a wee bit short of food storage space but we coped. The lounge is the most comfortable we have stayed in as a group with plenty of space for everyone and the fire was wonderful to come into after bad weather. Having the 'garage' area to enter the house when wet or muddy was perfect and allowed us to dry everything overnight. Great shower and in separate room a lovely roll top bath was a bonus. The room that housed the bunk beds was a little chilly but the problem causing that was being fixed as we left. Having the beach at the end of the garden was absolutely perfect for both the humans and the dog and really made the holiday for me. The cottage was a great place for spotting nature - loved watching the red squirrels and on our last day we spotted porpoises 50m off the beach.
    Mrs Cowan - March 2017
Clearly a well loved family home previously. Ideal location for great beach access and the amazing Glen Sannox. Everything you need in the house (except towels!). well looked after, great garden. Arran is amazing as well. a little something for everyone including a brewery for Dad. Get it booked.
    Mr Ruane - February 2017
Woodside is a stunning looking cottage in a beautiful setting. Loved the large enclosed garden - as did my puppy! It was great to walk to the end of the garden to open the gate and be on the quiet beach. Stunning views and loved an early morning walk along the trail. House is quite old fashioned in decor but we were more than happy with the lovely open fire and some nice unique features. Loads of DVDs to chose from and some games. Kitchen very well stocked with utensils and crockery etc and loads of fridge space. Some folks might be put off sleeping in the bunk beds off the utility area downstairs (I wouldn't feel comfortable sleeping here as easily spooked!) but it wasn't an issue for our party. Beds upstairs comfy. We didn't read notes properly and didn't bring towels so a trip into town the first day was required! Apart from walks along the beach we took the car whenever out visiting attractions and restaurants. Local chinese does deliver to the house but the chip shop at the ferry terminal does not! Fiddlers Music bar is great for food and live music - we had a great Sunday lunch here. Also had a meal in Auchrannie in Brambles which is dog friendly and very cosy on a cold day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and looking to return again later in the year. Would recommend Woodside as a great base - a wee bit away from Brodick but if you want the peace and quiet then Sannox is the place to be.
    Mrs Mckay - February 2017
Lovely, homely cottage, dog friendly and equipped with everything you would ever need. Wonderful location for walking, nestled between the beach and the mountains. Books galore for every taste. We absolutely love it x
    Miss Ridley - October 2016
Our 4th time at Woodside. The house is very comfortable and although not perhaps the most luxurious or modern we have stayed at it has everything one needs and has a very comfortable atmosphere. Being pet friendly is a great advantage. Shame that the Aga is not available to use - we would cheerfully pay more to do so.
    Mrs Floyd - August 2016
The house is in the most wonderful location right on the beach with a well attended large garden. Wildlife in abundance and the best views. Mountains one side and the sea the other. The cottage is one of the most well equipped we have been too. Warm and comfortable too. I cannot find any fault in this place at all. We do not usually revisit the same house as there are so places to see, however this home I would return to. In bad weather there is so much to do in the house you can stay in and relax.
    Mr Levitt - March 2016
This was our 4th stay at Woodside and enhanced by the very sunny weather which was unexpected in March and as it has been a wet winter. This encouraged the seals to bask on the rocks between Corrie and Sannox. The house continues to retain its charm which is one of the reasons for continuing to return annually. Being March the island was fairly quiet but had meals at the Corrie Hotel (which is being refurbished), Kildonan Hotel and the Brodick Bar which was very busy and testament to the standard of cuisine. Arran is best for walking and we walked between Sannox and Corrie and up Glen Sannox as well as along the beach. We will return.
    Mr Gibson - March 2016
Woodside is great for spotting a variety of wildlife including red squirrels.
    Mrs Richards - November 2015
This was our third stay at Woodside and as before it was a relaxing break away from work and other commitments. The house is comfortable with necessary mod-cons but still retains its character and the setting of the gardens, beach and hills cannot be matched. There are plenty of good walks in the vicinity, along the shore and into the nearby hills. The Sannox Bay Hotel, a gentle stroll away and serves great meals but be prepared for the generous portions. Overall a great stay and have already booked again for 2016.
    Mr Gibson - October 2015
We have been here before and loved it. It would be perfect for families as you can open the garden gate and release the children onto a sandy/pebbled beach. Dogs love it too. We had the benefit of perfect weather, the walks were good and varied. Riding stables not far away. Pub/hotel at Sannox within walking distance.
    Mrs Floyd - September 2015
We really enjoyed our stay at Woodside. The house is quirky and you really feel that you are in a family home. The sitting room is a lovely place to relax in the evening and the grounds with the mountains and the sea at every turn were breathtaking, snow capped and basking in sunshine, who could ask for more. The dog loved the garden and the path to the beach was a fantastic feature. The red sqirrels and an otter in the garden, and of course the deer in the field just made our stay memorable.
    Mrs Mcevoy - March 2015
All that we hoped for and more.
    Mrs Turnbull - October 2014
We were a group of up to 7 adults and had stayed in Woodside previously. As last year the weather was fortunately very good for the time of year (late Sept/early Oct) and allowed for some outdoors activities including climbing Goat Fell which is to be recommended if fit enough. Otherwise just go as far as you can. Meals out included the Douglas Hotel (excellent as ever) and the Sannox Bay Hotel (very large portions). Also recommend the sandwich Station at Locnranza which has a large range of interesting fillings for such a small place. For meals in we went to the Arran Butcher at Lochranza for excellent local lamb and venison. We have already booked Woodside again for next year.
    Mr Gibson - September 2014
V good. We were very disappointed that the Aga shown in the photograph of the kitchen was not available for holiday lets and think that that should be mentioned in the blurb
Owners Response: "COTTAGES & CASTLES RESPONSE Thank you very much for your feedback. The Aga is a feature of this house only - it is an electric cooker that we advertise for use during your holiday."
    Mrs Floyd - September 2014
The beauty of this place lies in the fantastic location. The mountains behind & the beach and sea in front - what more could you ask for. The cottage is quirky in its layout but that adds to its' charm. The only slight downside for us was that we bought my 84 year old, slightly infirm mother - she opted to sleep in the downstairs bedroom as she isn't so good on stairs & that room really wasn't suitabel for her - it was cold & she had to cross the utility room to get to the bathroom. Having said that, she still really enjoyed herself but if we holiday on Arran with her again we wouldn't pick 'Woodside' for that reason.
    Mrs Dunn - August 2014
Fantastic property in an equally fantastic location. Well equipped. Great access to the beach and walks up Glen Sannox and to be able to walk for dinner at hotel or cake at the tearoom Felt like you were away from it all but in reality only 20 minutes from the shops at Brodick We were a mixed group of grandmas, parents and children but there was something for everyone. Would highly recommend the Sannox Bay hotel for dinner
    Mrs Pack - May 2014
The house is just as the description advises with excellent facilities and the wonderful beach access. Having visited Arran many times we know the island pretty well but had not spent much time in Sannox. The access to Brodick by bike is just right and the Glen Sannox over to Glen Rosa walk was great. Heating in house more than adequate, had to override to turn off as it was quite mild the week we stayed.
    Mrs Gratton - March 2014
Woodside is set in a peaceful and beautiful location close to the shore and the hills which makes for easy and relaxing walks. The cottage is full of character but is also warm and comfortable and has modern bathroom facilities. We enjoyed eating out at the Douglas Hotel, Auchrannie, Corrie Golf Club tea room and Kildonan Hotel and bought excellent lamb from the Arran Butcher at Lochranza. A great holiday.
    Mr Gibson - November 2013
Charming house in a beautiful setting with fantastic mountain views. Peaceful and private garden with an abundance of wildlife.
    Mrs Richards - November 2013
Woodside is absolutely brilliant, excellent accommodation, fantastic garden leading on to the beach. Great pub 'The Sannox Bay' within easy walking distance which serves delicious food. We were a mixed party grandparents, parents and children with a dog and Woodside was just perfect for us all. If you want a treat visit the Spa at Auchrannie,in Brodick us 'girls' had a great pamper morning, meeting up with the rest of the party for lunch on the balcony. The children and dog enjoyed the safety of the enclosed garden and easy accessibility to the beach. There are excellent walks from the property either up to the mountains, or along the coast to Lochranza.
    Mrs Birdsall - June 2013
Woodside Cottage is the best situated cottage in Arran, off the main road, no close neighbours, complete privacy, fully enclosed garden and private gate on to lovely beach. Been here twice and hope to return.
    Mr Withers - May 2013
The best thing about this house is it's location. It is charming to look at and has an interesting history but the quality of the accommodation itself needs to be improved.
    Mrs Sangster - September 2012
I have been coming to Woodside for 9 years. I love it. The wi fi connection is mediocre, but everything else is perfect.
    Mrs Gallant - June 2012
Woodside house is a warm welcoming house. Very beautiful located, with a lovely garden and with a private beach.
Mrs Van Son - May 2012
What a truly lovely place to stay, it had everything a family could want on a holiday and more. A really lovely location.
    Mr Hext - May 2012
Property was very well presented and with an abundance og games, books, CD's, DVD's and videos for any wet evenings. Location is excellent with a very large garden area and opening on to the beach. Our dog loved it all. Property is older but with loads of character and we would not hesitate in using it again.
    Mr Mackinnon - September 2011
