Holiday homes & accommodation in St Andrews

St Andrews is a place of history, culture and coastal beauty. A seaside town north-east of Edinburgh on Scotland's east coast, it’s home to a huge variety of historic sites. It's also home to the first university in Scotland, the University of St. Andrews which was founded in the 15th century, and is the location where striking little balls into holes in the ground became fashionable in the 1400s. St Andrews is world-famous for being the ‘birthplace of golf’, hosting the oldest golf course in the world. The famous ‘Old Course’ attracts visitors from all around the world, and there’s also an excellent British Golfing Museum to look around. Take your golfing buddies away and stay in our St Andrews holiday cottages.

St Andrews has a remarkable cathedral, and although it is in ruins, it's still an atmospheric corner of the town not to miss. You will also love St Andrews Castle which dates back in part to the 13th century, especially its medieval bottle dungeon, and siege and countermines. Walk down the medieval streets in the centre, where you will see a selection of beautiful traditional buildings studded by modern shops, restaurants and cafés. Our St Andrews accommodation can provide the perfect base to return to after days out exploring.

Stay in St Andrews and enjoy everything about it. St Andrews Botanic Gardens, Cameron Reservoir and Eden Estuary are popular spots for nature lovers. For those who love walking, there are two sandy beaches to take the four-legged member of your family for a long run, and they are also the ideal location to spot sea birds, dolphins and even whales. The Fife coastal path also makes for a scenic walk; set off on the Fife Pilgrim Way which follows a medieval pilgrim trail across Fife, although at 64 miles, you might only want to do the last part which finishes in St Andrews. When you can walk no more, come back to one of our self-catering holiday cottages in St Andrews for a well-deserved rest.

We have a whole variety of places to stay in St Andrews, ranging from romantic holiday lets to large holiday homes for big groups. For more ideas on where to spend your next self catering holiday, browse our full collection of Scotland cottages.
