Ayr is famous for its associations with Robert Burns, a writer known for Tam O’Shanter. You can visit his old home and other landmarks that were significant to him. Ayr is also the home of the Scottish Grand National so if you love horseracing, coincide your holiday when the meetings at Ayr racecourse are in full swing.
From the coast, you can take in some beautiful views of the Firth of Clyde. On the horizon, you can marvel at the impressive peaks of the Isle of Arran and further on, the Mull of Kintyre.
