This stunning castle enjoys a spectacular location in the heart of the 30,000-acre Airlie Estate. Surrounded on three sides by dramatic tumbling rivers, this beautiful family home is steeped in history and retains many original features. Situated at the end of a long tree-lined drive, this secluded property is just 20 miles north of Dundee. With an extensive walled garden, tennis court (by arrangement), games room and opportunities for fishing and stalking, this magnificent castle has everything you need for a truly exceptional holiday. The main house sleeps 14 guests and also includes two hours’ housekeeping per day.  The Castle makes for an enchanting wedding venue and catering can be arranged.

Despite its grand and imposing exterior, this marvellous property has a charming and welcoming interior, with vaulted ceilings, original features, a four-poster bed, an AGA and open fires. Beautifully furnished throughout, the castle offers a fantastic mix of the stylish, traditional, quirky and modern. There are seven cosy bedrooms and a number of fresh and spacious living areas including a playroom, snooker room, library and drawing room.

Entering this fantastic castle, you will find the elegant kitchen which is kitted out with a wealth of equipment and utensils, and features a dining table perfect for enjoying breakfast or a snack. There’s also a spacious playroom with table tennis, as well as a cosy snooker room. The ground floor also features a boot room, WC and utility room.

Stepping up to the first floor, the light and cheerful drawing room is an ideal space to relax in, with comfortable seating and a lovely open fire. A further open fire can be found in the beautifully book-lined library. You can share a formal meal in the ornate dining room which has plenty of space for up to 14 guests.

The bedrooms are distributed across the second and third floors. There are seven bedrooms spread over the second and third floors.  They include a master bedroom with a four-poster bed with en-suite bathroom.  One double bedroom and an emperor bedroom that shares a bathroom.  King sized bedroom with en-suite.  The third floor has one single bedroom a king size bedroom leading to nursery room with 3 single beds, 2 family bathrooms and a WC. 

Heading outside, you can explore the extensive grounds, relax in the large walled garden, play tennis(by arrangement), football or croquet, have a BBQ, enjoy miles of walks, or take part in stalking or trout and salmon fishing.

This is a great base for exploring this lovely area, with the Loch of Lintrathen (5.5 miles) and the RSPB Loch of Kinnordy Nature Reserve (4.5 miles) both nearby. You can also visit the historic Glamis Castle and its stunning gardens (9 miles). The castle is the setting of Shakespeare's Macbeth and is the childhood home of the Queen Mother.

The local market town of Forfar (12 miles) has a range of places to eat and drink, and is home to a number of attractions including the Meffan Museum and Art Gallery, Forfar Loch Country Park and the Pitmuies Gardens. You will also be close to the delightful town of Kirriemuir (6.5 miles), which is home to the Kirriemuir Camera Obscura, the fascinating Gateway to the Glens Museum and the birthplace of JM Barrie – the creator of Peter Pan.

There are several golf courses in the area, including Alyth (4 miles), Glenisla (3.5 miles), Kirriemuir (7 miles) and Rosemount at Blairgowrie (11 miles). Other places of interest include the Redwings Mountains horse sanctuary (14 miles), the Pictish Room (16.5 miles) and the tea rooms and nature reserve at Murton Farm (14 miles). Heading north, you will reach the outskirts of the breathtaking Cairngorms National Park (20 miles).
