Situated on a working farm, this cosy two-bedroom cottage is perfect for families seeking a rural retreat deep in the heart of the Moray countryside. The soft sandy beaches at Nairn (6 miles) and Findhorn Bay (11 miles) are wonderful for a gentle stroll spotting the famous Moray Firth dolphins or head to the Cairngorms National Park (21.5 miles) for a day walking the scenic hills.

For a more leisurely activity, take a guided tour of the farm and get to know some of its animal residents up close. Your single-storey cottage has a traditional and homely feel to it, with a white-washed exterior and cosy rooms decorated in muted tones with floral accents. Windows look out over the garden and onto the rolling farmland beyond where the livestock graze in the fields and wild birds fly overhead. With sumptuous sofas to sink into after a day exploring the countryside, your snug lounge/diner is a warm and inviting space with views onto the garden. Prepare family meals in the well-equipped kitchen and dine at the bistro-style table.

Walk up Castle Hill at Auldearn (3 miles) to see the 17th-century dovecot and be rewarded with panoramic views across the countryside. The closest village to your cottage, Auldearn has a welcoming restaurant and bar. For a wider selection of amenities, Nairn (5 miles) has a choice of independent stores, restaurants and takeaways. Nairn also boast two golf courses, a swimming pool, and a wonderful sandy beach. There are some lovely walks in and around Nairn, including a leisurely riverside walk from the harbour to Cawdor Castle or spot the buzzards soaring high above you on a wander through Ord Hill woodlands.

From Nairn Harbour why not take a boat trip across the Moray Firth to spot dolphins, porpoises and seals. Discover some of the most significant moments in Scottish history with visits to the many ancient castles and historic sites within easy reach of your cottage. Explore the stunning gardens at Cawdor Castle (7.5 miles) or follow the nature trails through the woodlands, immerse yourself in the heart of the action at the Battle of Culloden Visitor Centre (15 miles) or picnic in the grounds of ruined Urquhart Castle (38 miles) as you explore scenic Loch Ness.

Cottage was lovely, nicely decorated, and well maintained. Absolutely beautiful location with lots to do within easy driving distance. Owner was very helpful and friendly, and had provided excellent information on the property and local area. Thoroughly recommend staying here!

We found the cottage had everything we needed and the location was excellent and if you want to see wildlife there is certainly plenty of that, we saw red squirrels, and lots of deer also what we belive was a pine martin early on sunday morning while driving to Nairn. We must mention how friendly and helpful all the people we met up in the highlandRead mores and were made welcome everywhere, this helped to make the holiday special. We visited lots of places but most memorable was the Black Isle. Hide

Beautiful cottage in the Scottish Highlands outback 5 mins drive to a neighbouring beautiful place called nairn which has a wonderful harbour . I drove to Loch ness and the Loch ness centre 45 mins away the drive was stunning and on my way back went into Inverness a large lovely town which you can get to if you via off the cottage route 10 mins offRead more the location of the cottage is excellent . We drove all the way from Kent to stay here. Got a little lost on arrival but the lovely owners helped us out. Absolutely beautiful home, inside and out. Every attention to detail thought off, all the little bits you would not expect to find. We loved every second of our time here. I spend a week in the cottage and loved it. It is quiet with a beautiful view over the fields with the sky, the cows that would come to the fence to see what Im doing, and the marvelous sunrises to be seen from the bedroom with the twin beds and the kitchen window. Lovely little cottage, in a nice remote area, the owner was very nice and welcoming. The field next to the cottage which had the cows in made for a very lovely view when they were all at the fence along garden and they love to say hello! We stayed for a week to do the NC500 on our motorbikes and we loved every minute of it! The was enough parking sRead morepace for a large van and three motorbikes which was ideal for safety. Would recommend as a lovely cheap and affordable place to stay to visit Scotland Hide
