This modern take on a traditional wood cabin is anything but rustic. Light and airy open-plan living creates a lovely sociable space to spend time with loved ones, and with comfortable furniture alongside tasteful neutral tones, you will feel right at home in this wonderful setting.

Kick off your shoes in the hallway and head through to the lounge/kitchen/diner, a room full of light thanks to full-height windows that drink in the far-reaching ocean views beyond. Cook up a storm in the sleek fitted kitchen, then gather around the table to enjoy a delicious meal together. When darkness falls, cosy up on the plush sofa seating in front of the fire and watch a family movie, play games or plan the next day's activities. Soak tired legs in the contemporary bathroom before heading to bed in one of two inviting bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, and both with comfortable beds topped with crisp linen. There is a handy utility room with a washing machine too.

Venturing outside onto the large patio area, you will find a bubbling private hot tub awaits. Enjoy spectacular sea views accompanied by a sundowner or two, then fire up the charcoal BBQ and dine alfresco sitting at the comfortable outdoor table and chairs. End the day with a spot of stargazing snuggled around the roaring fire pit.

Located as it is, fabulous coastal walks are a must from this marvellous home. Join the Stairhaven Coastal Circuit, a gorgeous 5-mile circular walk that takes in the area's dramatic cliff-top scenery. The beach is a 0.5-mile stroll away where traditional seaside fun awaits, as does one of Scotland’s oldest inns that serves delicious meals daily if you don’t fancy cooking at home.

Visit the historic village of Glenluce (5 miles) which is nestled in a beautiful valley and home to the 12th-century Glenluce Abbey which also features the Museum of Monastic Life. Alternatively, head to Portpatrick (19 miles), where you can take an exhilarating high-speed RIB boat trip or a fascinating wildlife cruise around the Rhin’s of Galloway.

Garden fanatics will love Logan Botanic Gardens (19 miles), a green-fingered paradise where plant treasures from South and Central America, Southern Africa and Australasia thrive thanks to the warming influence of the Gulf Stream.

The magnificent ruins of Dunskey Castle (19 miles) are picturesquely perched on a rocky outcrop jutting out into the Irish Sea and makes for a dramatic setting from which to watch the sunset after an action-packed day of adventure.
