With 65 acres of estate to explore, you won’t need to go far to immerse yourselves in the rural tranquillity and soak up the natural beauty of the local area, with long country walks or bike rides a necessity. Despite its quiet position, the bustling market town of Inverurie is only 3.5 miles away, with a range of shops, eateries and amenities on offer. Inverurie is known as the ‘Heart of the Garioch’, and therefore is full of history; you can find out about this rich history in The Garioch Heritage Centre in the town itself. Aberdeenshire is known as ‘Scotland’s Castle Country’, so everywhere you go, you’ll find castles, stately homes and ruins to discover. One such castle is Disney-like Craigievar Castle (18.5 miles) or a little further away, the royal residence, Balmoral (43.5 miles). The area is also home to ancient battlefield’s including a Roman one only 5 miles from the town. There’s also the atmospheric East Aquhorthies Stone Circle 2.5 miles away.

Surrounded by untouched countryside, keen walkers will be spoilt for choice, as will cyclists. The Bennachie Hills (9.5 miles) are particularly popular, with the Visitor Centre offering vital information about the forest and hills.

If you’re looking for something a little more cosmopolitan, the coastal city of Aberdeen (19.5 miles) is worth visiting. With historical buildings, museums, galleries, shops and eateries on offer, you won’t be short of something to do. It also has its own beach, with stunning coastal walks and views.

The rest of the eastern coastline is also within easy reach and includes a range of links courses for golf enthusiasts and towns with beaches, shops and eateries. One of these towns is Newburgh (20 miles) which is a little off the tourist route, and has an untouched sandy beach backed by dunes, a golf course and some independent shops and cafes.
