Set within the picturesque grounds of the 16th-century Killochan Castle, this detached stone house offers five-star accommodation for groups of up to eight guests. It serves as a gateway to woodland adventures and impressive private gardens teeming with local wildlife. In the surrounding area, the Ayrshire coast (4 miles) and Galloway Forest Park (15 miles) both offer excellent opportunities for walking and enjoying natural beauty.

An exquisite interior awaits at this impressive property, which boasts museum-worthy artwork, antique furniture and rich colour schemes. Large fireplaces and sash/bay windows create rustic appeal, while carefully placed lighting allows to create a relaxing atmosphere come nightfall. You won’t be surprised that its designer boasts Buckingham Palace and Harrods among its other clients. Book a multi-generational family trip and you certainly won’t be disappointed by its unbridled opulence, where every last detail has been meticulously pored over, from the elegant ornamental crockery to the tweed wallpaper and shiny bathroom tiles.

You’ll enter into an airy, open-plan hallway with a formal dining area opposite. The striking dining table is ideal for those special occasion meals that run late into the night, with plenty of wine flowing. In the cosy lounge, sink into the sumptuous seating and pop your feet on the pouffe before switching on the Smart TV for some low-key evening entertainment. This space has dual-aspect windows allowing in plenty of light, plus smooth wooden flooring that matches the rich cream walls. If it’s chilly, simply spark up the wood burner for some comforting warmth. Next to the dining room, a bespoke kitchen will tempt culinary masters with its gorgeous wooden work surfaces and apron sink. A king-size bedroom is accessible from the kitchen, with a bathroom located just beside it.

Head up to the first floor, via the dining area, to find three additional bedrooms dripping with grandeur. Two have grand king-size four-poster beds and another has twin beds. Each room is beautifully decorated with top-of-the-range soft furnishings, ornate lamps and plush cotton – as well as linens of the highest quality, to ensure you sleep like a baby. A generously sized family bathroom with a free-standing bath and walk-in shower also features on this floor.

Outdoors, the expansive private garden features a lush lawn and a patio complete with garden furniture. In fine weather, it’s a joy to relax in this serene setting, perhaps planning tomorrow’s adventures over a leisurely cup of tea and some traditional Scottish shortbread.
