  • Excellent renowned eateries and friendly country pubs on your doorstep
Property code: 83967

Treat yourselves to a truly special stay at this exquisite, period cottage. Set in the delightful village of Roslin, 7.5 miles from Edinburgh, it is just 350m from the stunning, 15th-century Rosslyn Chapel, which featured in Dan Brown’s novel the Da Vinci Code and the famous 2006 film. Sleeping four guests, and also welcoming two contented canines, the two-bedroom holiday home makes a great base from which to explore the area and walk in the magnificent Pentland Hills.

Wander into the two-storey cottage and from the hall head on into the immaculate, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with its gorgeous, revealed stone wall. Choose your evening’s viewing on the Smart TV before heading over to the kitchen area to prepare a feast with the fresh, local foods you have bought. Dine together at the table then switch on the gas fire and simply unwind. Find you also have a utility room and shower room at ground-floor level.

One of your bedrooms is downstairs too. This is an inviting twin room, which can also be arranged as a super-king if discussed in advance. This room benefits from its own TV and has doors that can be opened up on to the garden on warm days.

Make your way up to the first floor to find a comfortable, king-size room that also has its own TV. This room has more exposed stonework, as well as characterful, sloped ceilings. There is also a family bathroom up here.

Sit out at the front of the cottage in the morning, with a cup of cup of tea, to watch the world go by. Light the BBQ to the rear of the property on warm summer evenings and have dinner together in the garden out here.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 twin zip-and-link (which can be made into a super-king-size on request) and 1 king-size
  • 1 shower room with WC and 1 bathroom with handheld shower over the bath and WC
  • Electric oven and induction hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave
  • Utility room with washing machine
  • Smart TV in lounge and TVs in both bedrooms
  • On-street parking is available
  • Enclosed shared garden with a private seating area and charcoal BBQ
  • Restaurants, pubs and shops within 100 metres
  • Easy access into Edinburgh City Centre via buses every 30 minutes
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week

Enjoy staying in Roslin, where you can wander straight out from the cottage to pick up local produce or enjoy a meal out in a pub. Also stroll into the Glen Country Park, where you can follow pathways through woodlands and wildflower meadows and walk beside the river. Take time out to see the famous Rosslyn Chapel, founded in 1446 by Sir William St Clair and known for the mysterious symbolism of its ornate stonework.

Walk approximately 2 miles from the property to find yourselves on the fringes of the Pentland Hills. With its range of medium-sized hills and reservoirs providing homes for a plethora of birds and mammals, this is a great place to enjoy long walks, especially if your four-legged friends have joined you for the stay.

Head into Edinburgh to discover more about the great Scottish city. Experience the rich history and colour of the place: visit the castle, the National Museum of Scotland and the Blair Street Underground vaults. Go shopping on Princes Street and dine out in one of the many fine restaurants throughout the city; stroll through Holyrood Park, climb up to the summit of Arthur’s Seat and take the children to Edinburgh Zoo.

Lovely little dog friendly cobblers cottage. Albeit the garden needed a little bit of dog proofing. Perfect spot, quiet with good walks for the dogs. Easy to catch a bus into Edinburgh. Friendly people and excellent and reasonable places to eat and drink. Most places readily except dogs. We thoroughly recommend.

A very pretty cottage in a great location but spoiled by the following. We arrived at 9:30pm - none of the appliances were switched on so food we had bought had to go into a warm fridge and freezer - we lost the freezer food.
