Perched on the banks of the bonnie Bengairn Loch, this contemporary yet homely lodge is perfect for a family holiday or a romantic retreat. Couples, small families and one dog will love relaxing and unwinding amongst the peaceful countryside after a busy day exploring quaint villages, bustling market towns and stately homes in the borders region of Scotland.

Making the most of its spectacular waterside location, large windows and patio doors allow light to flood into the charming open-plan living space. Unique in tones of teal and grey reflecting the changing waterside hues, warm wooden floors are complemented with cream walls in this stylish home. Privacy and personal space are easy to come by with the tranquil en-suite bedrooms located at either end of the living space.

Step inside this luxurious, single-storey lodge and discard your outdoor clothing in the hall vestibule and potter through to the charming open-plan living space. Light and bright during the day, once the wood burner-effect electric fire is lit it becomes cosy and welcoming, just perfect for snuggling on the comfortable sofas or enjoying a sociable meal in the firelight. On warm evenings, open the French doors to the patio and stargaze with a wee dram or a nice glass of wine in hand. Wake rejuvenated to magnificent loch views in the bedrooms and enjoy your morning cuppa listening to the sounds of the water.

Outside, the large patio has a seating area with comfortable table and chairs, perfect for al fresco dining morning, noon and night. Relax and unwind in the bubbling hot tub soaking up the beautiful loch and countryside views, a daily event not to be missed.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The bustling 18th-century market town of Castle Douglas (9 miles) is also a designated Food Town with lots of excellent, local produce. Here, visit Carlingwark Loch, dotted with islands and great for boating, learning to sail and picnicking. Kirkcudbright (11 miles), a harbour town on the Solway coast, is known as the Artists Town, and has many independent shops alongside some great places to eat.

Kids will love Mabie Farm Park (24 miles) which has a boating pond, pedal go-karts, quad bikes and trampolines, whilst Mabie Forest is one of the world-class 7stanes mountain biking centres and caters for beginners right through to expert riders. Outdoor enthusiasts will love exploring Galloway Forest Park (35 miles), home to dramatic ancient woodland, magnificent scenery and an astonishing range of local wildlife. This first Dark Sky Park in Europe offers walking, cycling, fishing or relaxing in the tearooms.

Galloway Activity Centre (19 miles) is located by the banks of Loch Ken and offers laser tag, archery, sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding, kayaking and a climbing tower. For wildlife and bird enthusiasts, enjoy a trip to the RSPB Ken Dee Marshes (15 miles) and explore the red kite trail, plus the Southwick Coast Wildlife Reserve (22 miles) has peaceful walks in pretty scenery. Keen golfers can play a round at Castle Douglas Golf Club (9 miles), Kirkcudbright Golf Club (11 miles) or Dalbeattie Golf Club (8 miles).

The lodge was absolutely perfect. So well thought out and equipped. Wouldnt change anything. We would highly recommend Bengairn lodges. Described as luxury and they really are.

Spent a very relaxing week at this lovely luxury Lodge. The views were stunning and the wild life were a pleasure to watch. The lodge was very comfortable and well equipped. Fiona and Robin were excellent hosts. They left a lovely hamper and fresh flowers for our arrival and Treast and a nice soft towel for our Jenifer dog. If you enjoy 5* accommodation, peaceful surroundings and a variety of wildlife this is perfect. Very clean, well equipped, comfy beds. We were made to feel very welcome and the owners were amazing. Would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful holiday. The standard of accommodation, the gorgeous location and the care and attention from Fiona and Robin (the owners) were wonderful. The lodge was tucked away overlooking a loch with various bird life and wildlife to entertain us. It was easy access to the coast and countryside around. Just lovely.

Outstanding accommodation. Have been to many 5 star lodges but this is now number one on our list. The lodge, the view the hosts could not be improved. The Bengairn Country Lodges are situated in a fabulous location. The internal layout of the lodges is excellent for families and having a hot tub and Netflix all included was great. Lovely lodge in an idyllic situation - very peaceful and lots of birdlife. The lodge is beautifully finished and lovely and cosy. Wow! A luxury, relaxing and a much needed getaway after all the lockdowns and also after becoming parents recently. Beautiful cottage with lovely views, gorgeous location, facilities and many things to explore nearby. Excellent hospitality from Fiona and we hope to return sometime in the near future.
