St Andrews, Scotlands oldest university town and known worldwide as The Home of Golf, has an excellent range of boutique shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Family-friendly attractions include the Botanic Gardens and St Andrews Aquarium. To the south of St Andrews is the East Neuk of Fife, a region of quaint fishing villages nestling amongst the natural harbours of the coastline.

Crail (9 miles) has one of the prettiest harbours in the area and is well known for shellfish, whilst Anstruther (9.5 miles) has cobbled streets through a rabbit-warren of little alleyways and wynds. For more sandy beaches, head to Kinshaldy Beach (9.5 miles) or south to Leven Beach (16 miles) or Shell Bay (14 miles). For woodland walks, head to the gothic ruins of Crawford Priory (12 miles), or the house and grounds at Hill of Tarvit (12 miles). Craigtoun Country Park (4 miles) is a fun family day out and has an adventure playground, trampolines, Fairy Glen and a 30ft zip wire. Find lovely little ruins at Balmerino Abbey (13 miles), while urbanites can visit the vibrant city of Dundee (13.5 miles) with its excellent range of leisure and shopping facilities.

Further afield for city day trips, Edinburgh (50 miles) and Perth (34 miles) are within easy reach, making this a fantastic base to explore the Kingdom of Fife and central Scotland. Blown Away Experiences (2 miles) offer land yachting, kayaking, paddlebaording and surfing, while East Neuk Outdoors (10 miles) also offers kayaking, canoeing, archery, paddleboarding, bushcraft and fire-making.

We had a wonderful time. The location of the house could not be better, and it was clean and perfectly presented. Some lovely personal touches when we arrived as well. We will definitely go back again.

This property is wonderful. We immediately felt relaxed in the house, it was so warm and comfortable. The location is perfect, we walked every day to the beaches as well the great choice of cafes, bars and restaurants in the town. There's also a nice park quite close for a quick dog walk. The townhouse felt just like home. It is perfectly located, close to everything you could need. The homemade Lemon Drizzle cake on arrival was an extra special touch which got our holiday off to a great start.
