Situated in a tranquil spot in the Lammermuir Hills, this stylishly converted byre makes a lovely holiday retreat for a couple or a family looking to enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful part of the Scottish countryside. With ample space for four guests, this delightful cottage also makes a perfect bolthole for anyone wanting to spend time in the vibrant city of Edinburgh.

 

This is a lovely warm property to relax in, with a traditional wood burner in the lounge, and a spacious sheltered hot tub with Bluetooth speakers and spectacular views across the valley. This stylishly designed period cottage has been imaginatively updated, beautifully furnished and decorated in a variety of eye-catching ways. Adjoined to the owner’s house, your privacy is assured.

 

After arriving at this pretty cottage, you will find the beautiful lounge which features a vaulted ceiling, wood burner and plenty of comfortable seating so you can snuggle up together and catch up with a favourite TV show or a good book. The lovely dining area is perfect for a family meal or a romantic dinner for two which you can prepare in the elegantly designed and fully equipped kitchen. The ground floor also features a spacious and attractive bathroom.

 

Heading upstairs there are two spacious and airy bedrooms – a delightful king-size room with a TV, and a bright and cheerful twin zip-and-link which can be made up as a super-king-size on request.

 

Stepping outside, you can unwind in the enclosed garden which has a charming seating area where you can share al fresco meals, enjoy a glass of wine in the evening, or spend the night stargazing.

The property enjoys an idyllic location close to the Scottish Borders and is surrounded by beautiful countryside and farmland. The immediate area is a haven for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers to discover, with numerous country tracks and forest trails to explore. It's also a good area for anglers with the River Tweed and a number of trout fisheries nearby. You can head to Hillend which is the home of the popular Midlothian Snowsports Centre (16 miles) with opportunities for dry-slope skiing and snowboarding. The thriving town of Lauder (14 miles) has a variety of great restaurants, shops and pubs and is home to the magnificent 16th century Thirlestane Castle which plays host to a variety of major events including the Vintage Motor Extravaganza, the Scottish Championship Horse Trials and the Tour de Lauder. Heading north you will reach the vibrant Scottish capital of Edinburgh (16.5 miles). With its immense range of shops, eateries, pubs, museums, monuments and parks, the city has something for everyone. Among the many highlights in the city are the Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Park, Portobello Beach, Edinburgh Zoo, Craigmillar Castle, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Cameron Toll Shopping Centre, Dean Village and Murrayfield Stadium.

A great location for easy access to Edinburg and the Scottish Boarders but also quiet enough to escape from it all. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the hot tub was great after a day out exploring the countryside

The cottage is very clean, beautifully presented with everything you could possibly need to enjoy your stay. The hot tub, with views over the fields & hills is a real treat. It was lovely to watch the chickens having a dust bath, the rabbits running around and the horses, sheep & cows in the fields. A really fabulous place to stay. Fantastic location, little out of the way but also close enough to get places, just what we wanted. House is a good size, we had 2 adults 2 kids and 2 dogs. The outside area is good for the dogs and the hot tubs was a nice addition. Robes and towels supplied along with the bedding which is great when trying to travel light.

Cottage was clean, charmingly decorated and very well equipped, made cosy by a log burner (though you have to buy your own wood). Hot tub is lovely place to unwind with stunning views of the hills to look upon. The cottage is attached to the welcoming owners' house but they grant guests plenty of privacy. The cottage is gorgeous and situated in a beautiful area of Scotland. It has everything you could need or think of. Although only two of us went, it would easily accommodate 4 without a problem. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to visit again.

Brothershields Byre is beautiful and remote - makes for a relaxing holiday. Noreen and Ally were friendly and helpful. There were four of us (adults) and two dogs and we were very comfortable. Views are amazing!

This be is one of the best cottages we have stayed in. Its beautiful - looks even better than the pictures IMO. Its right next to a farm which my little boy loved. Clean and tidy, comfy beds and so much thoughtfulness - heated sorer, everything you could need in the kitchen, books for the little one (he loved these). A perfect hideaway off the beaten track. Rolling hills and scenery, cosy comforts inside and everything catered for. We have been disappointed in the past by some of the cottages provided, but this one was exceptional. Friendly owners and a farm setting with animals to admire. The Byre was a lovely well appointed place to stay. The living room in particular was an impressive but cosy space to be in! Hot tub was great (though make sure you bring flip flops)! Beautiful cottage placed in a great location, around 30 minuts from Edinburgh and an hour and 40 minutes to Loch Lomond. Amazing countryside views in the area and the hot tube is superb!
