Overlooking the quaint harbour in the historic fishing village of Johnshaven, this traditional detached fisherman’s cottage provides cosy, warm and welcoming accommodation for up to four guests. Full of character and atmosphere, this delightful cottage makes the perfect getaway for a couple or a family looking for a restful holiday bolthole on the breathtaking north-eastern coast of Scotland. This is a wonderful base for enjoying spectacular coastal walks, magnificent unspoilt beaches and locally-caught fish with chips.

Retaining plenty of original features including an open fire and exposed beams throughout, this pretty cottage has been beautifully renovated and thoughtfully updated to offer a wonderful holiday base which is ideal for a long weekend or a romantic retreat.

In this charming and tranquil cottage, the charming hallway leads you through to the fresh and cosy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. With an open fire, TV, DVD, Hi-Fi, plenty of comfortable seating and idyllic views across the harbour, the pretty lounge offers the perfect spot for you to sit back at the end of the day and relax with a good book or a movie. You will also find that the stylish kitchen is fully equipped for preparing your favourite meals, which you can then enjoy in the dining area. Exploring the cottage further, there are two delightful double bedrooms and a nautical-themed bathroom complete with a shower over the bath.

Stepping outside you can sit back on the bench perched outside the cottage and watch the sun go down over the harbour, or you can take a pleasant evening stroll along the harbour and waterfront.

One of a string of picturesque fishing villages set along the Angus coast, Johnshaven features an invigorating harbourside with beautiful open sea views. Outside the property are the McBey lobster and crab tanks – suppliers to many restaurants around the country. The village also has an extensive park, tennis courts, a number of shops and the popular Anchor Hotel which serves fantastic food and drink. The Johnshaven Heritage Hub Museum, which can be found in The Old Lifeboat Shed, tells the story of the village since the 17th century. Other nearby attractions include the ruins of Dunnottar Castle (12.5 miles), the fascinating Maggie Law Maritime Museum (4 miles) and the beautiful St Cyrus National Nature Reserve (4.5 miles) where you may be lucky enough to spot common and grey seals, dolphins, porpoises and whales off the shore. Following the coastal route to the west you will encounter the lovely town of Montrose (10 miles) which features a beach, golf club and the Basin – a nature reserve for wildfowl and wading birds. Montrose is also home to Langley Park Gardens, House of Dun, the Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre and Dunninald Castle and Gardens. Heading inland you can explore Drumtochty Forest (15 miles) which is popular with cyclists, and the nearby Drumtochty Castle (12 miles) – a popular wedding venue. There are also distilleries, golf courses, a steam railway and a number of breathtaking beaches to discover in this idyllic corner of Scotland.

The perfect place for a break. The cottage is beautiful and comfortable. The views are amazing and if you can tear yourself away from them, there are great walks along the coast or attractions further afield. The village shop is well stocked so no need to drive anywhere if you don't want to. The weather for the first few days was horrendous but on arrival thanks to the Lady who looks after the cottage on arrival it was warm comfortable and clean , it ticks the boxes for us as we visit family nearby, we could not ask more. Thank you.

The cottage is perfect and beautifully situated on the front of the harbour, with magnificent views from the windows. The village is quaint and friendly with everything you need for a home from home holiday. We will certainly return.

Cottage was very quaint with lovely seaside touches. Location excellent for watching all the comings and goings at the harbour, or as a base for visiting the surrounding area. It was nice that milk, tea and coffee had been left for when we arrived.

This cottage is ideally situated, in the middle of a beautiful village, where the locals are extremely friendly and helpful. The house has everything you could possibly need, a home from home with many thoughtful extras and lots of sea related decor. The perfect place for a week by the sea.

It's spot on for us to visit family nearby, the new radiators will be a welcome addition come the winter. I would like to thank the Lady who looks after the cottage for leaving tea coffee milk etc we always forget something and it's nice to sit down and have a cuppa after a long drive, as always the cottage was brilliant.

Great location (easily the best views of any rental cottage in Johnshaven). Very comfortable and well equipped especially bathroom underfloor heating. Local hotel (Anchor Hotel) served lovely food - particularly the seafood. Very enjoyable walks along the coast with a nice sandy bea h at St Cyrus. Would like to return in the summer months

Great cottage in excellent location. Had everything that you needed provided, loved the quirky bathroom with the underfloor heating! The Anchor Hotel was a stone's throw away and was a great pub with lovely food. Spent a great break over New Year and were very lucky with the weather so able to enjoy the location for great walks on shoreline. Location excellent right on the harbour. Cottage very well equiped has everything you could need was able to prepare a New Years day dinner with all the utensils and dishes needed. We thought the cottage was delightful so cosy with everything we needed. Having the open fire was such a bonus even though it wasnt needed to keep us warm. The window seat was an especial favourite of the children. It was lovely being able to look out over the little harbour.

Location is fantastic. When you open the front door, you're immediately in front of the sea. There is a hotel right around the corner which serves typically Scottish food and coffee to go. In the harbour you can buy fresh lobsters. The house itself is very basic but right what you need at this location.
