This hamlet is particularly famous for its monument marking the spot where Bonnie Prince Charlie came ashore for the final Jacobite rising in 1745. It is also home to the ancient Glenfinnan viaduct which carries the railway to Glenfinnan Station across a 1,000 ft span, 100 ft above the ground. The celebrated Jacobite Steam Train, which stops off at Glenfinnan and continues to Fort William and Mallaig on the west coast, is also the very same Hogwarts Express used in the Harry Potter movies.
